So last week we booked a 3 night stay at CR for Feb. celebrating my college graduation and because a great Florida Resident rate. I called dining and received the very last CG before fireworks time at 7:55 pm. May we get there a bit earlier and just SEE if there is a table open or will we be escorted out until 7:55? I REALLY wanted to see the fireworks from there the first night of our trip because the next two we plan to be in the parks. Maybe have my graduation cake there as well! Thanks!

You don't need a table. Go out on the observation deck and watch. The odds that you will get a window table with an MK view aren't good, anyway.

We got one last time. I prefer to think positively.

Fine, think positively - but if you have the last reservation before fireworks time that narrows the odds, so you might need to think practically. Get there a bit early, if they don't seat you in time you can get outside in time to get a front row standing spot on the deck. The view from there is better than the view from inside at any rate.

I'm a positive person as well but TDCNala's advice was good. Think about it this way - If it was 7:40 and you were just finishing your dessert would you hurry to get out before the fireworks or would you eat really slow or order another cup of coffee. Thankfully Cali Grill will allow you up to the restaurant and out onto the observation deck before you are seated. They don't make you wait on the second floor until your table is ready

We've eaten at CG numerous times and have had a window table view of the MK two times. The other views are incredible and even if you aren't at the window you still have a great view. We ate there on 11/9 and were disappointed with the dessert selections. They have scaled them down and quite honestly the dining plan killed the great desserts. When we questioned the waitress about the desserts she said " we are serving desserts that are easier to prepare in advance", Enough said, the rest of the meal was wonderful. Try Todd English's Blue Zoo if you are a foodie.

Thank you all for your advice-greatly appreciated. Not making any excuses but I'm in my final internship so I am extremely tired! Sorry if I was snippy.

:grouphug: Hugs to you. Congrats on graduating - its a big accomplishment. I have one more year before completing my Masters. Have a great trip

Get there a bit early and with an ADR, they will let you up early even if your table is not ready.
We always have reservations at CG at 8. We usually arive about 7:40. They invite us to go right on up to the bar/lounge, which we do. Unfortunately, on Saturday nights our table usually isn't even ready until 8:30, or after. And there are no seats at the bar or the lounge!!

Thanks so much. I am going to keep calling to try and snag a better time. This is on a Thursday so maybe we will get lucky!

1) The fireworks view from the deck isn't bad.
2) But, you book a table to see the show while sitting.
3) Your ressie time guarantees a deck.
4) People will no vacate their table that close to the fireworks.
5) I would grin and bear it.
6) Chances of another time are slim.
7) But, keep trying.

I think either way, it is a positive for you! You'll be celebrating your graduation at WDW! :woohoo:

On the one hand, you check in early, your table isn't ready, but you'll be able to see the fireworks from the deck, then enjoy a fabulous meal.

OR

You check in, get seated right away and get to see the fireworks while relaxing and waiting for your meal.

Sounds like a win-win to me. :goodvibes Oh, and congratulations on graduating! :thumbsup2

You sound as though you would be exceedingly disappointed if you don't get to see Wishes from a window table. At the ADR time you have, it sounds like you may need to have another plan in mind. Anyone who is already sitting at a window at that time is going to stay right there until the fireworks are over. Doesn't mean you can't see the show - just that it's unlikely you will be able to see it from a table, much less a window table. Having a backup plan may cut down on the disappointment, which you don't want to have on a special occasion.

The show's the same whether you're sitting inside or standing outside. (I'd think if the weather was bad enough that you couldn't stand outside they wouldn't put on the show anyway)
