WARRIORS Sizzling into September

Tracy thanks for the photo- our warriors look ready for action don't they! It's a lovely photo too.

I managed an 11 mile run today- it helps so much being inspired by others. I knew so many WISHers were out battling in the magical 1/2 so felt compelled to keep moving. Took 1hr 34 on a nasty route where the first half was very hilly. Had to stop twice to breathe!!!

Looking forward to the reports guys :surfweb:

Roxy! Congratulations! This is wonderful news.

When I did the Chicago half some years back we walked for a bit with a runner who was pregnant. She had said she promised her team she would walk and meet them at the end. Her sign was cute about walking with her little one. She also said that she was going to hang the medal near the crib since the baby earned it too. I love that.

Hope your pregnancy is easy. I'm sure since you are planning to remain active that you will be enjoying every moment.

DL half was better than I expected--for me. I did it in 3:22 and was worried that since my last 3 LRs were ugly that I may not make it if it was too hot. Well cloud cover helped. Sun came out last few miles and I was able to sustain a pace that was just under limit. I'll take it! I'm feeling better than I figured. Hips are screaming though. I guess this means Goofy training is a go!

I didn't take many pics during the weekend and none during the event. I really was not figuring I had any time to spare.

Congrats LIly, jeff, Michelle adn Marcia!!!! Way to do us proud!

Congrats to Jen for her tri!!! That was awesome!!!! You really did us proud too!!

Kate - wTG on sticking it out on a tough run!!!!

I did a 6-miler Saturday. Not great, but at least I got the steps in adn not too horrible for first run post race. Walked 6 with the family yesterday.

Not sure if it's a bike or yoga night ofr me tonight. Have one more tri on Saturday and then it's all marathon all the time.

Report of my August Miles:

Better then July but not great

76 miles - 12 hrs 30 min

Also you can add my name to the Goofy list and I plan to attend the Warrior meet.

I also ran in the Hendersonville, NC Apple Festival 8K this past weekend. Coming from GA I was not ready for the altitude and the hills. My legs were rubbery the whole way. I finished in 46:23 and took 3rd place in the Clydesdale division.

Great Job Ken!!!

And all the Warriors that went to DL for the 1/2, looks like everyone had a great time and congratulations!!

I went out and did 4 miles after work and now I am supper pooped. After staying up watching my Hurricanes beat FSU and then getting up early for work, I am one sleepy Warrior.

Have a good evening everyone!

-Tracy

Carrie, good luck on the tri this weekend! You rock!

Ken, congratulations on taking a place at your event. Great news!

Today has been a Pilates day so far. I'm not sure if I'll get in anything else yet or not.

Wow, it's been a busy weekend, Warriors!

Ken: Hurray for placing in your event!

Carrie: Good luck getting ready for your tri this weekend!

Lily: Congrats on finishing the DL half, despite the heat! And good luck on your half this coming weekend! Yikes! I'm definitely not at the place where I could even IMAGINE doing consecutive halfs!

As for me, I got 5 miles in with Jack today, but am having a bit of calf/ankle/knee pain on my left leg. I did an ice bath (brrrr!) after my run, and it seemed to help a lot. I'm going to skip my run on Thursday, as I'm doing the Iron Girl 10K on Saturday (it's my birthday gift to myself - I couldn't turn down a 10K with bling on my birthday!) and then I have 8 miles planned for Sunday. I'm looking forward to my first race since June! It's supposed to be hot this week, which is kind of disappointing. I did 8.5 miles in the POURING rain on Sunday, which was actually really nice for a change - Seattle hadn't seen rain since May, so it was actually pretty great. Jack was a complete nutcase the entire time, though, he was just so excited to see the water. When we got back home, all I could say was a quick "I'm sorry" to James as a black and tan muddy and wet bullet bounded into the apartment, paws above his head. :lmao:

We also have our first class in our yoga series starting tomorrow. I'm looking forward to some different cross training!

Sarah - Hope you have a great yoga classs! It can be wonderful for the body! Good luck on that b-day 10k! :wizard: for cooler weather!

Lily - WOw, B2B halfs. Youa re an amazing woman!

Ken - Huge ocngrats on your 3rd place!

Tracy - Hope you have more energy today! If you do, please send soe my way! ;)

Hey everyone -
I just wanted to come onto the thread and say... well not goodbye, but see you real soon! I talked to Tracy about this and I'm really sad to say it, but i'm not able to finish out the year on the time. Time is just a huge issue for me right now. Thank you everyone for all your support so far- It has been amazing getting to know all of you. I wish you nothing but the best for all your future races. And believe me - I will jump at any chance to come cheer for you guys. I may be around for the Marathon Weekend in January, so hopefully I can come be an awesome cheerleader! haha Thanks again for everything!!!

- Katarina

Sorry Katarina. I know that there are times when something's gotta give. Hope you find the time to keep putting in some steps. Hope to meet you at an event some time.

Better late than never! Phew!

HI!

Wow, lots of congratulations to go around, I see!

ROXY--WOW! So exciting! You'll have to keep us in the loop on all of the developments!

DisneyLand Halfers--WAY TO GO!

I will post my August miles and minutes as soon as I calculate them! They are low, but steady. I think...dare I say...I am injury free, finally! I already have some good miles in for September.

Let's go, Warriors!

Hi Erika,

Thanks, and also I don't have a records anywhere of your July numbers. Please post when you can.

I still need numbers from a few of you busy little Warriors out there....
Marcie
Jen
Michelle
Jennifer
Stacey & Jeff
Brandie

I know that life takes over and it is hard to keep up. But its hard to keep up with everyone also. If we could try to make it a thing to post our miles and times pretty close to the beginning of every month, it would help me out A LOT!. I feel bad trying to chase people down week after week to get miles and times together for the entire team.

I hope everyone's training in coming along smoothy and injury free!!!

Go Warriors!

Tracy

erika :dance3::yay::woohoo::banana::cool1: to being injury free. Fingers crossed you stay that way! A steady month is still something to be very proud of though.

Tracy Think i'm up to date as would hate the wrath of noodle thrasher! Have you got over slight greeness of not being at DL half yet? :rotfl:

Katarina so sorry that things have become too hectic for you to stay in the team, but that doesn't mean you have to say goodbye- please pop in every now and then and be sure to come and say hi at any events!

Sarah aka irongirl! I like that! You have a new nickname :) bling on your birthday is definitely an must have! I love reading your stories about Jack- he sounds... bouncy! ha ha.

Ummm i've been keeping up with training- spinning on wednesday (with a shockingly uncomfy seat!), then a 6 mile run yesterday that wasn't especially fun with heavy legs but it all counts right? Tomorrow.... is moving day for me and my boyfriend! We are moving into a rented house and he's the only boyfriend i've ever moved in with so it's a big deal for me (actually and him i think!). Very exciting and my mind's all over the place so sorry if i've missed some things recently! Uni work also started today so that's unfortunate timing :rotfl:

Catch you all soon

Hey Warriors:

Quick update from me: Was on my way to the 10K this morning, but didn't get any farther than the driveway out of my parking garage. It's a dangerous exit because people park cars along the road on both sides, making visibility almost zero for incoming cars, and and it's located just after a blind corner. We've had a few near misses in the past, but have always been lucky. Today I wasn't so lucky. The car is totaled, but I walked away with a sprained wrist and wrenched shoulder from the impact. The other guy was totally fine and his car just had the passenger's corner caved in. The part that really sucks? It looks like our insurance won't cover our car at all - it's a long story, but apparently someone screwed up when we bought our car 2 years ago and although collision insurance was supposed to be put on the car, it was never added to the plan. And we.... stupidly never read our policy documents, but just kept paying the plan and putting the cards in the glove box when we got them every 6 months.

So.... I'm not having a good day. Most random thing? I was wearing my Road ID (because I was heading to a race) when I got hit. When James was taking everything out of the car so it could be a hauled away, he found my Road ID on the floor of the car. The force of the impact was so strong that it tore my Road ID from my wrist - no wonder it's sprained!

Anyway, it could have been much worse. I'm lucky I walked away. And we're going to be having some financial trouble for awhile (we were planning on buying a house this fall, but that's going to be put off for 2-3 years, now. Also, our honeymoon in Hawaii has been canceled.) but we'll still have a roof over our heads.

And my lesson for the day: read every piece of mail that comes in to the house, and don't assume that just because you asked for something, it was done properly!

Sarah: :scared1: eek! Sorry to hear about this incident.
I want to send out a big hug  to you!! I am soooo happy to hear that your are doing well even with all that happened. Someone was looking out for you today!! Hoping your injuries heal quickly. YUCK about the coverage and the financial woes, ugh.

-Tracy

Sarah,

So glad that you are okay. Sprained wrist beats anything worse. And look, you're still typing. :thumbsup2

Sorry your plans and finances took a drastic turn. But you are alive, and that's what matters most.

Sarah
I am so sorry to here about your accident. I am glad you are safe. Will be saying an extra prayer for you.

We are off to the doctor today to here the hearbeat. We have seen the heartbeat twice on ultra sound never heard it though. Keeping my fingers crossed I get permission to run the half from the doctor. Wish me luck>:thumbsup2
