WARRIORS Sizzling into September

Kate - While the name didn;t thrill me, the warriors themselves always have. DOn't want you to think I dsiliked being a warrior. Yay for things seemin gmore homey. Hope you get internet soon! We miss you!

Tracy - Thanks for all your hard work!

Marcia - Hoosmi and Erika are also tri Warriors. yup, decent amount of them. Hope you get more time for the longer miles soon, but I know you will be fine even without as much trianing as you'd like.

Had a yucky 6-miler Sunday. still too hot for me and I don't liek ot run Sunday unless it's a race. Body just pooped out on me, though, Friday. Last night, I got new shoes. Mine were beyond done. Hoping that helps my next run.

Roxy, glad you're a go for Goofy. There will be quite a party at the back of the pack. You'll see many WISH members there.

Sarah, sorry you are feeling banged up. Glad for the new car and that DH is able to get some time out there with you.

Carrie, glad to hear you are embracing the warrior in you. You are amazing.

Jeff, yep, wings. You really fly.

Tracy, hope your jogging intervals are not messing up your racewalking. Didn't you compete in that event at one time? I definitely feel a muscle difference between the walking and wogging I do.

Kate, glad to hear everyone is adjusting well. Hope your internet is connected soon.

I've done a few steps and this past weekend had an ok 6 miler, then got sick on Sunday. Have not done anything since. I'll be back at it properly tomorrow.

Lily: Glad you're feeling better! Don't rush the workouts too fast, though!

Carrie: Yay for new shoes! Sometimes they're just what you need to make everything better!

Kate: Glad to hear that things are feeling a bit more homey in your new home. It's amazing what furniture can do for a place. :lmao: I'm doing my internet hookup dance for you, btw!

As for me... brutal stonker run, this morning. Ugh. It was 86 degrees by the time I finished at 9:30, but I did get my 6 miles in. I walked a lot of it, though - Jack and I just weren't feeling the run. I also stopped and threw him in Lake Union near the end; I wish I could have joined him, but.... Lake Union is kind of gross and slimy this time of year. Isn't it supposed to be fall, now? And don't I live in the Pacific Northwest? What is with all this heat!

Went for a massage this afternoon to work on my tight neck and shoulders from the accident - it hurt like heck! But I have a pretty good range of motion in my neck and left shoulder, at least, now. My right arm is still asking for some babying. We also picked up the Prius this evening - it's going to take a bit of time to figure out all the crazy gagetry on that car!

Happy Wednesday Warriors. Hope it's a great day for all.

Cranked out another 8 1/4 miles. Something clicked, and all cylinders were on full throttle.

Hope everyone's training is going well.

Aloha!

Lily and Carrie: Wow you both had yucky 6 milers, hehe. Hoping its not contagious? I'm sure it'll get better. Lily- hope your geeling better soon.

Kate: UGH! No internet, that for me is like torture, but hoping it gets hooked up soon.

Jeff: Nice run!!

Sarah: First day of Fall was yesterday right?? hehe, the only difference here in S.FL is that it was a bit breezy with the remnents of Fred passing by so we had a really good wind yesterday. Kinda nice with the high of 90.

AFM: I am dealing with a congestion thingy, nose and a bit of a cough. Not feeling bad or down and have kept up my training. I have a 5K this saturday so will see how that goes. Lily, the wogging hasn't bothered me too much with my racewalking and is helping my times. My intervals are 1 1/2 min joggin and then 12 min racewalking so that is working out so far.

Have a great Wednesday Warriors!

BTW: Anyone need a WISH hat or visor please see the link in my sig to order one!

Howdy, Warriors. Happy wednesday to you all. Well I have some bad news. After putting my heart rate monitor on I found my heart rate going over 150. The doctor told me I have to keep it below that. I am only 11 weeks along in my pregnancy and at a 14 minute to 14.5 minute mile it was at 146 sometimes it would go up to 153. I worry the further along I get the quicker my heart rate will go up. I will be 24 weeks at Goofy and far from my dr. So I am not going to participate this year but I will be cheering you all on. I am cycling now slowly and walking. I will return in 2011 with a new little W.I.S.H.
member. I still will log miles and keep moving just at a slower safer pace. Happy training to you all. :)

Roxy - Very wise decision. WOuld it hurt to put the steps in at a 15:30 and just see what it gets you, just in case? Maybe you will be leasantly surprised? If not, we will all appreciate your cheering and your baby will be worth more than 100 Goofy Medals.

Tracy - lol. Just never know about thses contagious runs. Hoep you feel up to snuff soon!

Lily - Make sure you are well before worrying about the steps. HOpe you feel even better today!

Jeff - Congrats on teh full throttle run!

Sarah - Take it easy on that body. It's been through a lot. Give it time to recover and don't worry about pushing. lol, yeah, hoping the shoes make all teh differnce. I didn't feel like I put many miles on tehm this summer, but they were pretty bad when I looked at the bottoms.

Just a 3-mile walk last night. DH had to take his bike in to get a new seat to try. WHo kknew they let you borrow seats and try before buying. So, we had dinner adn walked theboardwalk now tha tall teh tourists are gone.

Carrie, I tried that. My heart rate would stay at 145 once went up to 153. What worries me is potty brakes. Being that far along I would not be able to run and make up the time. I am afraid I would get swept. Maybe I am being paranoid?

Roxy - Forgot about potty breaks. If you start in the inital wave you signed up for,o that might give you enough cushion. After I posted, though, I just kept thinking about how it culd be hot out again. Maybe your body needs time to adjust to a new plan and that's why your heart rate's up. I so want you to be able to do it, but even if you do make it through trianing, if race dday conditions are bad, you may want to make it a no go. Maybe it would just be easier on you to resign yourself to not doing it now. Scream teaming is a lot of fun. the look of appreication on some of the faces is priceless. You know we'll do what we can to help you through whatever decision you make.

Hey Warriors-

OK, my miles for August are 95 and my hours about 20. Sorry, Tracey!;)

I did my 5k on Saturday night. I was hoping to get near a race time from the Fourth of July. I've been doing so much cross training that I've sort of neglected my running. :rolleyes1 I ended up finishing about 45 seconds slower than the other race. It worked for me, and got me an Age Group trophy!

I just forced myself to run 5 slow hot miles-- the weather channel said it was 75 degrees with 94% humidity and fog. I could actually feel the fog at some parts- I kept thinking it was the lightest drizzle ever! No wonder I'm happier at spin class or in the pool! ;)

Roxy- How about a compromise position? Maybe aim to do the Donald and cheer for the full? You still get the fun of going through the Castle and getting your medal, but it's obviously not as grueling and you'd probably be fine timewise. Just a thought! We'll support you no matter what!

Ok everyone... i am officially posting from our sofa in our shiny bungalow on our very own internet connection. Yep I'm back!

Roxy absolutely understand your reluctance and def agree doctors orders come first, but i have to admit Jen's suggestion of seeing how walk goes and maybe doing donald sounds good. Don't know if you can defer your place to next year, but if not then nothing to lose! So pleased to read that you're wonderfully sensible tho.

Jen congratulations for the age groupd trophy! that's awesome. It sounds scarily hot, really don't beat yourself up about such a tough run. i think you're fab!

Tracy congestion sucks! Glad you're not feeling poorly, does it feel like your head's in a glass bowl? love that... not!

Carrie thanks for your comments and I knew you always loved being a warrior! You didn't get a choice once you'd agreed to lead us! :yay: I'm loving the idea of trying seats before you buy- wish they did that for spinning classes :headache:

Jeff sounds like an almighty smooth run- good work! Don't you just wish you could figure out what made the difference?!?!?

Sarah happy new car day! (obviously i have the internet just because of your dance!) So sorry your neck and arm are both so sore, you're being very brave and you deserve double miles for the extra hurty factor!

Lily how are you feeling? Few steps is a whole lot better than no steps!!!! Keep them coming when you feel ok

me got my long run after work done. 13.1 miles 1hour 52 and a LOT of shin pain! Very happy with that time tho as that's 5 mins off princess time so fingers crossed for my race in a couple of weeks. I swear the camelbak helps support my lower back. Ok random question- i may have iced my leg and forgotton to put a layer between the pack and my skin had ibuprofen gel on already..... ended up freezing my skin. Is there anything i'm meant to do? It has slightly reduced sensation but nothing massive. oops.

So pleased to be back on internet, think i'm getting a bit attached to the wonderful world wide web!

I am trying a new training approach. It was really hot here until recently. So today I hopped on the treadmill and walked a 14.37 minute mile om a 1 incline. My heart rate stayed down 137-142. I am wondering if the heat was getting me? So I am going to aiming for Donald right now. If all goes well Maybe Goofy. I think more cycling traded for walking might help. Thank you all for your suggestions. I will take any advice I can get.:)

Roxy: Just putting in my two cents for ya. I strictly walked my first Half Marathon. It was the Disney Half. I was assigned the last corral. I started in about the middle of the last corral. I finished in 3hours 17min. There was still hundreds behind me. You most likely will be starting way in front of that, so I would think with you walking at a nice pace and maybe a few potty breaks (best is right off Main Street on the right heading towards the Noodle Station) you should finish with not a worry of Sweepers. Morning are pretty nice and a bit cool, so that may help also.
Good luck and only you will be able to tell if it is something you can do.

Tracy

Kate - Yay for being back on teh internet!!!! COngrats on that 13.1 too! Youre smokin'! Awesoem progress. Fun to think back to when you were just starting out. :goodvibes

Roxy - The heat coudl have been a husge factor. Glad it's going better! Sounds liek at least teh DOnald is very attainable.

Did a 40 min run last night. My legs have been so unhappy though. Just don't knwo what my deal is.

Hey Warriors!

Did a spin class today instead of running. Just realized we will be in Orlando tomorrow night- got to pack! Emma is going to spend the night at SeaWorld with our church's youth group. The rest of us will be at a hotel! ;) I'm being a grown up and sacrificing running EE even though I'll be in town. I think I'm going to have to tell my family about my sacrifice all weekend!!

Carrie- hope your legs are feeling better! I can't wait for the heat and humidity to get better so we can all feel perky again!

Roxy- I forgot to tell you that I was utterly miserable in all my pregnancies right about where you are now. By the second semester I felt soooo much better. You're doing great just getting out there!

Kate- your 13.1 was crazy fast!!

Jen in GA

Jen - Wow, first you hold back on a tri adn now EE??? What is the world coming too. (I know, I have it backewards but that's teh order i read them in.) Yes, make sure the family knows how much you scrifice for tehm! :rotfl:

Good Morning Warriors!
Just back from my lil 5K this morning....

The Sickel Cell Sprint. A 5K run/walk event at a park near my house, Brian Piccolo Park.
Got up around 6:20am, left my house around 6:45pm and rode my bike to the park. It's only about 1.6 miles to the park so I considered that my "warm-up". Checked in, made pit stop and over to the start line. Race started at 7:15am.
I finished with a time of 36:26 which is PR for me. Beat my last time by 18 seconds!! :woohoo:
Not too bad for not being sidelined a bit with shin splints on my right leg for about 2 months. My jog/racewalk intervals went fine, but I am thinking about changing the interval times.
So all in all a nice local race. Was humid out so early this am, but it had rained over night.

Also feeling good with the weight lose. As of today I am down 28 pounds and feeling good! Slow but progressing nicely.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Tracy

Tracy: Congrats on the new PR! Looks like the (careful) jogging intervals are really paying off!

Jen: Have a good time in Orlando this weekend, even without EE! Make sure to constantly inform your family just how much you sacrifice for them! :rotfl:

Roxy:  Hope everything is going well, no matter what you decide is best for you and your baby. I just think it's awesome that you have the goal to stay active during your pregnancy!

Kate: Frostbite? Oh, the dangers of RICE-ing! :lmao: Hope you're feeling better!

As for me, this is my week of Cheshiahud Loop runs. The loop around Lake Union is somehow EXACTLY 10K - it's a really nice run on wide paths most of the way, but it's getting a bit old. :lmao: My Goofy training schedule has a lot of 6 milers in it, and this week there are 4 (it's a low mileage week, so no real long run), so me and the Cheshiahud trail are very familiar. Had a nice diversion on the Fremont Bridge, though, today, when they were testing out the new art installation, which features sounds recorded from the bridge (it's a creaky old drawbridge) mixed into a musical piece, that plays as the bridge is lifted and lowered. It's a nice diversion as you're waiting.
