Warriors Irish Eyes are a Smiling

Jim - Sorry you have to wait longer for wahat sems to be the inevitable. Still going ot hope like heck that this works for you and you end up not needing the surgery. I totally understand your doubts, though.

Michelle! SO good to have you back! SOryr you've had such a rough time. Dh just got over bronchitis. No hospiutal visit for him, luckily. Do take it easy while you are getting your strngth back. :grouphug:

It was 75 when I got home yesterday. 75! in MI! :yay::yay::yay:

Dh adn I went fro our longest ride of the season. First 11 miles were awesome. beautiful course around a lake. My effort adn cadence weere really consistent fr ome. yay! AT 11.3, we stopped for dinner. Our favorite way to work out. :rotfl: Usually, though, we take teh 3.5 mile route there. Was rreally happy with the great work out. Nothing stellar on teh way home, but it's also a more corwded area of bike path and an area where we don't like to eb on the roads. So, all in all a very good night. I could tell that yoga adn core are really helping with my neck and shoulders. A results I never thought about. Yay!!! So good to have beautiful weather adn a great work out!!!!

Oh no Michelle and Jim! I hope you're both feeling better soon.
Kathy - I love your confidence! I need to hear that!!!
Carrie - My kids know that I need to practice for my race so they can go to Disney! :thumbsup2 Your ride sounds awesome.

I managed 2.3 miles in 35 min today. It was a little easier than my last run. One problem is that I'm starting to get a little bored. Not good when I still have 11 more miles to go! Any suggestions? I listen to the Dis podcast which are entertaining and maybe the podcast today was less entertaining for me (a lot about SeaWorld which doesn't really interest me). :confused3 How do y'all get through the long runs without losing interest???

How do y'all get through the long runs without losing interest???

Man, I was trying to come up with a fantastic answer to this question.... and then I realized that I actually have no idea. None. I run with my dog(s) and chat with them while I run, but I don't listen to music because I am worried about not noticing a bike or a car coming up behind me and one of my dogs getting hit. I've done up to 20 miles, by myself (well, with my GSD running buddy Jack), no music, and just myself for entertainment. I guess I just enjoy having the opportunity to just zone out and not have to think about anything but my stride and my heart rate and my posture. Which is strange because I HATE yoga, because I hate just sitting there having to concentrate on my breathing and my heart rate and my posture. :confused3 :lmao:

Jim: Take care of yourself! :goodvibes

Michelle: Glad to see that you're still alive, though just barely! :rotfl: Hope you're feeling better and getting back out there!

Carrie: I love workouts that have food in the middle! They're the best kinds of workouts! Second to that is workouts that have yummy food waiting at the end. :thumbsup2

Lily: That sounds like a really fun half marathon! I'm trying to justify running a similar one on Saturday morning when we have a u-haul booked for the afternoon! :rotfl:

I'm taking a quick break from my painting workout (who knew dragging a pregnant whale body up a step ladder over and over was such a workout!) to have lunch and check the DIS. We got the keys for the house yesterday and I'm painting the laundry room before the washer/dryer are delivered on Monday. Who knew that having a grass green laundry room was a big priority to me? :rotfl2: I picked up some raspberry bushes this morning and want to get them planted this afternoon, as well. Man, this whole owning a house thing is FUN! :rotfl:

Hope everyone is having a great week, and is looking forward to a nice Easter weekend!

Amanda

Talk Radio (hey before you throw stuff at me) it keeps me much more involved than music does!

I got my 6 in Wednesday morning at the Y (still to cold for me to go outside to run at the hour I needed to get it done.)

Todays run though will be on the road (finally) 4 miles out in the lovely country side of Huntington county LOL. Actually it'll be intresting to see if there are any changes since cold weather set in- I don't run on the roads I drive on if I can help it. LOL AFter the run it's yard work day before the rain comes tomorrow.

It's good to see more and more people getting back in the swing of working out! Have a great day all !

Sarah I am so excited that you're already in the house and decorating! Somehow I'm not convinced you're whale size, but I bet it is one heck of a workout. Still can't get over Jack running 20miles with you, it really is incredible.

Amanda Awesome news that your runs are feeling easier, boredom wise I have to listen to songs that i can sing along to. Anyone who saw me in either the Minnie 15k or Princess half will have seen that I mouth the words as I run! Helps me to regulate breathing too (oh you will look a fool if you do what I do tho- small detail!)

Carrie it's great that your neck and shoulders are feeling the benefit- makes it even more worthwhile. Breaking for food sounds ideal... wonder how many pubs would mind if I stopped mid run :rotfl: i think most!

Jim You have the perfect attitude- do as they say and you'll get to where you need to be quicker. It's all about the system in health care isn't it! You never know a different PT may have a different effect? Anyway, with a fever and poorliness you should be taking it easy!!!!

Michelle SOOOOO good to see you. Was worried when I saw you'd been in hospital. Thank goodness you're on top of the lungs now, that's because you're a strong and mighty warrior!

Kathy then that should be your mantra- you can do the half marathon and you're absolutely flying at the moment. Maintaining a 17min mile is a briliant walk.

me I've been inspired by Sarah and on wednesday went to help out at a local beginner runner group. I was terrified. Especially as right now I haven't run more than 4 miles since shin splints. Actually it was a lovely group- usually of 5 women who had all started from nothing and were building up amazingly well. I went out with the faster lady and she ran 3 miles at a really good pace!!! Not what i was expecting at all. I'd love to work with some brand new runners, but we'll see who comes through. i also learned a lot about how not to behave as a coach/helper as one man was ao arrogant- had feet on the table and was bragging about his personal bests and awards, it really intimidated some of the newer runners.

Anyway was great, will be back and hopefully it'l push me to keep raising my own fitness. Also did a 4 mile circuit today in just under 34 mins so feel pretty good about that (Admittedly a lot of it was downhill!).
