Warriors Irish Eyes are a Smiling

:welcome: Britney!!

Just back from the Princess Half. All the things that were plaquing me before the race I was all set to feel and if they started hurting to slow down. Had the 2:45 time in mind, but figured if I couldn't get it, that was all well and good.
The WISH meet at POR, sorry to say, was not well attended. IMO with all the people that were posting on that thread, not many showed up. I was happy that I did get to see some WISHers and a few new WIShers.
The start was great, the WISHers that showed up at the W tent in the morning moved into the portapotty land and hung out waiting to go into the corrals. There were 2 other WISHers that made it into Corral B with me. Jen and Kathy. I made sure to get us right up in the front. Corrina who made it to the A corral hung with up right across from the netting.
Jen and I were sooooo excited about being in the front of Corral B and standing right under the start sign, we even made the My FOX 35 Orlando news!!!
Pace felt good and I planned to try to stay ahead as by mile 1 I realized I was going to need a potty break by MK. So I was about 1 min and a half ahead of time. Hit the restroom near the noodle station and then found I was about a min back or so. Oh well just kept on moving on. BTW, the ITB never said a word, I was totally amazed. Big toe, never said a word. However, the front hip flexor of the left leg was started to grab my attention and then around mile 8 the outside of my right foot had a knot feeling, strange and never felt it before. I just tried to ignore it as best as I could. I finished just 24 seconds shy of a PR, but I did PR that lovely WDW Half course.
Found the familiar WISHers at the W tent, we waited some but my foot was bothering me so I moved into the long line for the All Star buses.
I found out I have acute tendonitis of that outside area of the foot and up the the ankle area. Another injection, anti inflamatories and some rest.
All, in all I was happy with the results of the race and Half Marathon #12 is in the books. My roomate Corrina did great also with a 2:10 result.
Had lots of fun with lots of racing friends from WISH and ROTE.

Kate: How is the tonsils
Jim: Once again, I didn't see you!!!!!!!
Carrie: Great seeing you again and loved the skirt!

Lily: hope you had a blast in NOLA!

Keep up those steps everyone!

-Racey Tracy

I was so sorry to miss you and the meet, Tracey! But I had a great race nonetheless.

I was in Corral A but dropped down to C to start with my WISH friends. I still can't believe that I was in A--how the heck did they do Corral assignments? My proof of time was 2:22. And while that is good for me and respectable overall, I wouldn't consider it "A" material. Thoughts?

My running stupid results:

Yeah I don’t know how but I too got placed in Corral A. I submitted a time of 2:45 and thought I was being generous… Usually when I am trained I have about a 8min pace, but figured I’d stay at about 10min a mile… WRONG! Haha! Running stupid? Yeah that was me! I thought doing a 10k weekly would do it, nope! I was too busy with school and midterms the week before…. My time was HORRIBLE! It took me 25min alone to go through Magic Kingdom…. 25 minutes!!!! I took forever! First I was so excited to strip my pants in the backstage area of magic kingdom, I had the medic guy take my pic… Then he watched me struggle for 3 minutes until he offered his scissors to aide me…. Then I stopped at every photographer about! Oh and played photographer for people too along the way. BUT, as I was about to take a picture w/ Cinderella and Charming… Another runner was in the act of tripping… But she regained her balance, on my right toes… Deff toes were bleeding after the race, and I;ve never had that issue before. But I didn’t get too upset cause the castle was right in front of me!!! Then waiting at the bottom of the castle ramp (after more photographers, which yes I waited in line and took pictures with on their camera, my cell, and my camera) was my prince charming! So I had to run over and say hi… Then let him take pics! Lol! So with my addition of 25min for about ½ a mile… I finished with 3:16…. I was getting nervous of being swept about! Lol! But I finished! And pathetically for starting in corral A… But I finished my first ½ marathon, I did it, and I got my princess medal I’ve been wanting… Next year… I train! And skip all the photo stops! Haha!
Me taking off my pants:

Stopping infront of the castle for the first time out of 8:

Wishing I was dead after my toes were crushed:

Me w/ my prince charming aka personal paparazzi:

And I’ll save the rest for a rainy day but there’s another 10 pictures from inside the park… WHY do they smash all the characters mainly into the same space?! See what happens! Lol!

Hey Warriors!

Britney: Welcome! Looks like you had a great time at the Princess!

Tracy: Congrats on #12, but sorry to hear that your foot is complaining again.

Lily: You really are a Warrior! Congrats on your back to back halfs! How many are you going for this year? 50? ;)

Erika: Glad to hear you had a great time!

Me? Haha.

I went out for my second Joints in Motion group run on Saturday and I very nearly died. We did the same course late in training last year, and I don't remember it being nearly that bad..... of course, I wasn't 5 months pregnant then... :rolleyes1 The course has two options - either stay on the bluffs in a relatively flat (but rolling) loop, or deviate down to the beach. The beach path is much nicer and I was feeling pretty good so I decided to take it... and then I had to come back up to the bluffs. I thought I was going to need a rescue helicopter to come get me! :rotfl2: I did really earn those 4 miles, though!

Other than that, I've just been plodding along, getting in my miles. I've accepted that speed is something that I'm going to have to give up for awhile. I have my first prenatal yoga class tomorrow, which should be a nice break - I've started getting some lower back pain, so it's time to start doing something about that. I also started coaching again with Girls on the Run this week - it's so much fun watching those little girls go from couch to 5K!

And lastly, I got told by my doctor this morning that I need to be eating MORE. :lmao: Which is hilarious, because I've been eating non-stop for the last few weeks - it seems like I'm always hungry! But I've only gained 5 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. My theory is that because I've cut down my mileage so much since I ran the Goofy in January, that right now I'm just converting my muscle mass into baby weight. But, the doctor says eat, so I'm eating! On that note, my large Cheese Lovers pizza should be arriving any minute now.... Wait, is this WISH? Do I need to move this paragraph to a different forum? :rotfl:

Good Morning Warriors,

Thursday is double dip fitness day for me- I will have a 4 mile "regular" run after school then a Core stability ball class after that. ( I hope I get the milage done before the class since I'm at a "late ending" school today - flip side of that is it's also a late starting school.) Then tonight I have to stay up late to watch Ace of Cakes (can I say that on this forum?) Tomorrow thought (luckily) is only a half day in the afternoon- cause I have house cleaning to do since DD#3 is bringing a roomie home for part of Spring Break

Pam - Your double-dip days sound killer to me. NOTHING goes with my core class. Heck, I'm lucky to get out Saturday for my run after Friday core. great job!

Marcia - WTG on the shoes!!! Hope tehy are the inspriation you need!

Jim! I looked at the shoe laces of every biker I saw. no lime green. :-( Actually, I think teh same 3 bikers were with em the whole time. Still, I kept checking. NOthing else to do. :-p

Princess B - Welcome!!!! WISH we coudl have met this weekend. Glad you had fun! great pix!!

Erika - SO sorry I didn't get to meet you or Kat. I did meet Goddess Nancy at about mile 11, though. very nice!

Kate - Thanks for teh support. Hope you are feeilng better!

Tracy - Good ot see you thi sweekend. Funny, I think just dressing up the little bit I did really made more people cheer fro me. Fun.

Kathy - Good job on teh run! Is ethe FR60 a pod one? It's not the fun pink one is it?

Princess was a blast! ind of annoyed me that there iseems to be more done for Princess than marathon, but it was fun. The commaraderie was awesome. It was funny to see that a large portion of the crowds cheering were men. It was fun to watch teh Princes run with their princesses. Just a cool feeling.

Crazy week. Flew home Monday and went ot my first swim clinic that night. OMG, I wanted ot die. Huge kuidos to dh for managing to tell teh instructor I look a bit stiff because I ran a half on Sunday. She was impressed. :cloud9: SHe must have thought I was just relalyout of shape.

Best part, though? My ankles weren't flexing right (did I mention I was a bit stiff). So she had me go to deep water adn kick my legs to hold myeslf upright. OMG was that hard! Then she says, "It doesn't even look like you're working." I told her I was working hard. The male HS life guard there says, "Wow, I wish I could make a vertical kick look tha teasy." That was oen of the biggest compliments I have ever gotten. I am so slow and out of sync swimming and feel like and old whale in the pool. Getting a compliment on my leg sstrength jus tmade my day! :cloud9:

Yes Carrie,

The FR60 is a pink one with the pod. I think since I only can walk, when my stride changes I think the pod does not read correctly. I will wait untio I really get the pace better and then re adjust it

Kathy

I love that one! I just know that my stride will never be consistent enough for it to work for me. I'd have to shave settins I coudl change. You know, Feeling Great; Yeah, I'll Make It; Whoa, where'd teh legs go, and Bite Me ZOne. :upsidedow

Happy Wet Thursday Warriors!~

It's been a few days, but we are back from the Princess 1/2. Ya'll looked great!

It was great weather for a race. A bit cold at the start, and with my bicycle-inflicted wind chill, it was REALLY cold for a bit. A pedaled from generator to generator until the sun came up. No medical issues on the course that I know of except for one poor lady who took a dive about 1 1/2 miles in and messed her shoulder & hip up. Bummer. Felt bad for her, esp. that early into a race. Ya' gotta' be careful on the Disney course, there are lots of places to trip up on the shoulders of the road.

My luscious DW & I walked the 5K. I gotta' say, I was kinda' disappointed in this race. It was nice going through Epcot, and the support was fine (as always), but it seemed like it was just a big "Princess and the Frog" commercial. The "medals" were very cheap (I know the untimed races only have plastic ones, but they are usually multi-piece well crafted items. In this case they were just silk screened slabs of plastic. Ugh. May not do any more of these if this is how they are done. Ditto with the shirt.

I have had an issue with foot pain rear it's head in the last few weeks. Went to a podiatrist yesterday. We are in the initial stages of attacking this problem. It may require a shoe change, custom insoles, prescription topical meds, etc. I am supposed to run really hard this weekend until my feet really hurt so that I can pin the pain down more specifically. Sounds like fun. :scared1:

If anyone saw a bike medic take a header between the TTC and the CR, yea, that was me. Front tire got pinched between 2 parking blocks. It's always nice to provide some entertainment on the course. You're Welcome!

Carrie - I left the lime green shoelace shoes at home. I was in a dark green "medical" jacket with a light green helmet.

Yepper, quite a wet day here also.
Tendonitis on the side of my right foot has pretty much said goodbye. I haven't done any miles since princess, so may go out and do a 3 tomorrow just to see how things are feeling. I really want to work more on my joggin and my stride - so that is my plan for the Disneyland Half. I wanna get my 2:45 or maybe even a 2:44. I am also, really, going to try and lose the rest of the weight I have been working on for the last year and a half. I started the time I went to DL around a year and a half ago, so would be nice to have it all off by then.

JIM!!! You need to give us an idea of what you are going to be wearing while EMT-ing! Come on and give us a heads up so we can say hello!!!

-Racey Tracy

(Oh I am signing up for a 10K in April!)

Britney, Welcome! Love the Princess report.

Jim, yeah, ya nee to step up and say hi. We'll have to get you an arm band, scarf or something a bit more telling.

Tracy, glad your princess went well.

Sarah, what are you eating? I can live that part vicariously through you. I'm not interested in living the pregnancy vicariously ever. Having my 2 was plenty "living" for me.

I think it's supposed to be rainy all weekend so I'm not sure about the timing of the virtual 5k/10k event.

Be healthy everyone.

Oh yeah, I'm looking to get 25 halfs in 25 states. At my physical this week the doc told me it might be getting time to consider moving my training into the pool instead of on the pavement. I don't want to hear this. This getting old stuff is not a happy thing some days.

Hey there!

Sasha and I had a fantastic 5 mile run yesterday at a south Seattle park, with the Joints in Motion training team. I really love having a group to force me to get up early on Saturday and get my long run in! I even ran 1/3 of the time, which was really nice - I have been mostly walking for the last few weeks, but I felt like running a bit yesterday, and went with it!

I'm also definitely getting in my workouts packing and cleaning for our move in a couple weeks! I also have my first ultrasound (20 weeks!) on Tuesday, so I'm incredibly excited for that! I can wait to "see" little Pudge!

Good Morning Warriors!

I got my 7 miles (and the virtual 10K done) over the weekend, and took DD#3 and her roomie shopping (I needed her to pick materials to finish the quilt I'm working on for her- just in case we didn't get a chance before I'm ready to start finishing). Today I have a "regular run" and a dentist appointment- think they'll mind if I come sweaty to the dentist LOL. Obviously the run will be later today. This week I'm doing my runs Mon/Wed/ Friday since my long is 4 miles (same as a regular run) and I have to spend at least half of Saturday at church getting stuff ready for major pie baking the next friday, for our Fish Fry.

Have a great day Warriors and enjoy the runs!

Pam How was the dentist? I bet he would have been very pleased to know you're running after the appointment! How exciting that you're nearly finishing the quilt, that's awesome.

Sarah oh my word!!! 20 week scan!!! That is the most exciting thing in the world :) You seem to be thriving at the moment, especially with the joints in motion group. Hope you feel extremely proud of yourself. How is Sasha shaping up these days?

Lily now let me think- Lily wants to to do 25 halfs in 25 states, doc wants a slight wind down... i wonder who will win :rotfl: If you're careful and sensible then surely age doesn't come in to it- you're only as old as you think you are. I met someone today who ran London Marathon aged 67 and was annoyed that he'd missed the 4 hr mark by 1 minute- ONE!!!! Amazing.

Jim you are hilarious- i think you secretly love being our mystery warrior! Sorry you took a tumble, i am hoping you didn't hurt yourself at all. Very pleased to hear that there weren't many serious incidents throughout. Great work and thanks for your support.

Carrie what a perfect time to hear that compliment, it sounds as if you massively deserved the praise. It's seems to be difficult for us to praise ourselves at the moment, but never forget how brilliant it is that you can achieve and take on this level of activity. It really is phenomenal.

Britney welcome! It's lovely to meet you and read your report, it looks like you had the most wonderful time (despite the clock time!). Looking forward to watching your progress and have a feeling it will be speedy!

Erika your event sounds perfect and great that you supported other members too.

Tracy you did fantastically as I know I've already said :) Very pleased you had a great time and was thrilled when saw that you stayed with Corinna as she was such an inspiration to me way back at the beginning.

Me got new antibiotics on friday as was still feeling rubbish and they seem to have worked. Took myself to the gym this morning for a very cross run as my virtual 5k and managed a good treadmill time of 27:14 which is pretty good for me. It was an angry run as I had a phonecall on sunday from a work colleague and there are a lot of unnecessary stresses going on there right now. It worked for my running tho, there's always one positive in everything.

Hi Warriors!

I still haven't come down off the high from the Princess! It was my first Disney race and I have to say that I don't know how I will ever do another non-Disney race of that length. I have done two other Halves and man, they just don't compare!

I am going to drop distance for a while and get my speed back up (or down, I should say!). I have a 5k in May that I want to PR with a 9:30 pace. My Princess pace was SUPER slow (at 12:30) but I knew it would be. I trained to run/walk it, plus I was helping first timers, plus I stopped for pics. That race was all about FUN for more (and it sure was that). Now I get serious and work on time.

All that being said, I haven't run since the Half. I went into the Princess with a pretty shredded lateral quad, and even with one week's rest it is still sore. So I have been doing the elliptical and weights. Just fine with me since the New England weather is AWFUL right now. Wind-swept rain and bitter cold. Gross.

Train well, Warriors! :goodvibes

Just signed myself and husband for the Wine and Dine relay. I will do the 8k and DH can finish the rest. :cool1:
Did not do much this weekend. Was at my DD this weekend and the 2 of us walked 3 miles. Will be babysitting the grandkids when she goes to China to adopt another daughter in a couple of weeks. Both girls have spina bifida but K is doing great and hopefully C will be great too.

Kathy:banana:

Happy Tuesday Warriors!

A BEAUTIFUL day in sunny NE Florida. 40's this morning, but now in the low 70's.

I did 7.6 miles today. Probably my best "feeling" run in weeks. Don't know if it was the weather, the pre-run caffeine, the fact I decided to take water with me or what, but it was ................................. nice. I could have easily run farther, but I'm still trying to take it easy on my foot.

Tomorrow I think I will head out on my bike (wind permitting). I've decided not to waste my energy fighting to 20 mph headwinds out of the west that we've had for the last few days.

Went into the 56º surf yesterday for some water rescue refresher at work (in a wet suit). The water was so cold that when it hit my eardrums I felt like I got stabbed in the head. THEN when I got a mouthful, my teeth hurt and I got a surf-induced brain freeze. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. The things I do for money :crazy2::crazy2:

I will probably be working the EE in June. My DD & DW are teaming up for this, so it's a good excuse to bike around & take some funny pictures of them. If it does not get flooded by a Monsoon like in October.

Looks like the weather has finally smiled on my training plan- supposed to be in the 60's with calm winds this afternoon for my run! I'll be heading outdoors as long as the weather guy is right! I can't wait. (Unfortunately there's a class of third graders waiting for a sub before my run LOL.) Then it's off to the airport to pick up DH who should be coming home from Egypt this evening.

Did my iWISH 5K Saturday enroute to a 5-miler. Just was not feeling it, so did not go fo a 10K. Swam Monday, still have a long way to go, butgettign better already. Yoga nd Bike ride yesterday. Was awesome to get myy bike on the road!!!

Jim - :sad1: I only looked fro shoe laces, not at helmets. SOmeday, I will find you. I'd say I'll make you pay for all teh times you didn't seek WISHers out, but tehn you'd go into hiding. Plus, I'm really not this obnoxious in person, at least not until I've gotten to know you nbetter. 2nd meeting, maybe. ;) Sorry about the cold swim. I hope people around you appreciate what you go through to be ready for their mishaps! Good luck with that pain identification run! :scared1:

Kate - So sorry you've been sick and have work issues! Hope it's all better soon!

Pam - You are rockin' those workouts! Way to go!

Kathy - WOw, what a wonderful DD you have. SOmeone must have taught her well. ;) :goodvibes

Tracy - How's the foot doin'!

Erika - SO glad you are still flying frm Princess! Awesome!

Sarah - So glad you are enjoying your JiM time so much!!

Lily - Please be careful with yourself. I know it's not what you want to hear, but htink about what you would tell others. :grouphug:

I am now signed up for Martian Half MArathon (April 10) and Flying PIg Half (May 1).

Today I'm subbing in a PE class - the aerobic classes will be power walking- Hope it helpsthe walking/recovery part of my races! LOL Actually I hope I can keep up all day with the HS kids.
