Warriors exploding with pride in July.

8.25 miles in 1:11. Knocked a minute of our time from Tuesday.

Happy Aloha Friday peeps!

TGIF Warriors

I've been keeping up with everyone on face book, so sometimes I forget to check the boards.

I've been running and at the gym, not as many miles as I should be getting in...considering I have a 1/2 marathon next weekend. But at least I'm still plugging away, no PR here. :)

I did finish my Goofy training schedule, and that I will start July 27th! Yikes

Have a fun filled day!
Marcia

Hey Warriors!

I don't have enough time to respond individually to everyone, but just know that you guys are rocking my socks this month! You guys are coping with a lot of heat, and still putting in the miles! I have even more respect since I got to Ontario and the heat/humidity is just about knocking me over. I got in a 5 mile run at 7:00 this morning and I had to walk the last mile or so back. Didn't help that I got lost at one point (I only lived here in Kitchener-Waterloo for 4 months, 3 years ago) and actually had to use the "Navigate Back" feature on my Garmin to get home. Lucky I had it or I would still be out there; as soon as I turned it on I realized I had been going in completely the wrong direction!

My hair and make-up trials for the wedding are in 3 hours, and then I'm driving straight on to Toronto for my maid of honor's bachelorette party - she's getting married two weeks after me! I'm not having one of my own because of the time crunch issues, but it's nice that at least I'll look super awesome with professional hair and make-up for her party tonight! :lmao:

Rock on, Warriors, and have a great weekend!

WARRIORS!!
Tearing it up huh?? July is here and I think most of us are just trying to get in some miles without completely melting!:lmao:

Jim: Sorry to hear about your Tri!

Jennifer: Fort Wilderness - Cool! Stayed there a lot as a kid when my family had an RV. I remember going over to River Country also (which isn't there anymore :-( ). Great memories though!

Michelle: Yeah! Staying with the pushups and situps! I am repeating Week 4 but doing column 2 this time. Its really kicking my butt or I should say arms :rotfl: even bothering my wrists a bit. Oh well. Situps I am on Week 3 column 2.

Jen: Kid in the office - Kudos to you! Neat that you created another runner.

Stacey: Hey Amiga! Walk with DD to the rec program sounds like a great way to get the miles in!

Marcia: So you got your schedule all set for Goofy? I guess the DL 1/2 will take care of itself? hehe:rotfl2: It's almost time for you to start!

Sarah: Yikes girl - glad you didn't get lost out there! Have lots of fun!!

Kate: Switchin gto new brand of shoes can feel like you are "breaking up" with your old shoes. GOod luck though and if they help you out, then welcome them with open arms.

AFM: I put together my training schedule that gets me to the Spacecoast half in November and then the half in January. I "officially" start 8/16!.
I did 4 miles this morning and then of course I had to try out my new bike!! UPDATE: Ok, so I was told by a few people that my calf issue may be from using too much of the lower legs when jogging. I was told to run more with my butt. ?? Then I had my boss and another runner lady say what they mean is to use more upper leg when running. Think of raising the knees and hitting your butt with your feet, this way I use more upper leg when running. Let me tell you that I am glad there was NO ONE around to see me trying to figure this out this morning. I must have looked very hilarious, however when I looked down at the Garmi I was in the 8s for the short amount of time I was using this "technique". hmmmmm JEFF - I may someday get to be as fast as you!! hahahahaha. Just for only a .12 of a mile here and there, but better now then with my "other" technique. Just very different than racewalking. Racwalking takes pretty much the entire leg, from the hip down to the toes.
So I did a first bike run of 6.66 miles. Nice ride!!
So totals for today are 10.66 miles and time total of 1hr:33min:19sec!! Whoo Hoo!!!:woohoo:

Have a good weekend everyone!

Beach camping, fishing, stargazing. The north shore sure feels like vacation!

Oh, and while I swam 1,500 meters in the clear blue Pacific Ocean, I was escorted by a green sea turtle for 15 minutes. He was more interested in me, than I was at him. Too bad I didn't have a waterproof camera with me. You would have loved to see what he looked like from about 14 feet away.

Aloha Jeff!!

As always love the photos!!

Very cool about the turtle, at first I thought you were going to say you hitched a ride with a dolphin, hehaha. Sea turtles are very cool, wonder what his/her name was ,.... maybe Crush or Squirt??

Tracy

Jeffyour pics are fantastic as usual! Can't imagine how wonderful it feels looking over when your swimming and seeing a sea turtle!

Tracy i laughed at the fbook comment about you doing 6.66miles! Have you noticed any little horn like tufts yet in your hair? So excited for you and your new bike tho!

Marcia lovely to see you and very pleased your still doin so well. Can't wait to hear all about your half next week.

Stacey it's great that DD's eager to walk along with you too. I do the opposite and walk my mum when i can!

Climbed a big hill in Wales with DBf yesterday, it was 4miles return and v steep in places. I'm counting it because my heart rate was def raised! This morning i went out feeling a little sheepish in my new trainers- 8.11miles in 71mins and it felt ok actually. Used Heart Rate monitor for first time and it seems i'm running a little too hard for my heart's liking :rotfl: it'll get over it!

Adding my own photo- have bought it too so don't feel bad about temporarily stealing it! There's not a single one of me and boyfriend together, but that's his right arm in the grey t-shirt!!!!

Hey everyone - sounds like everyone's doing great and hitting the pavement- even with all the hot temperatures! Keep it up- it's great!

I truly haven't been on the boards in a really long time. This may be my 2nd time this month. I'm just keeping busy and not really looking at the Dis. I wish I could say I was getting more accomplished because of that, but no. :) I'm trying to keep up with running- but i'm in another show so it's hard. But no whining! I'm good and it looks like everyone else is! Keep going Warriors!

14 miles, 2:05. Wogged miles 12-13 due to the heat. Got it done :thumbsup2.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Hey Warriors!

Got in 3 runs over the last week, with little IT band pain. I have been doing tons of stretches!! Also started the push challenge, as well as the squat one.

We are jetting off to Vermont today for 2 weeks, but I hope to check in here and there. I have a 8 mile race on Sunday! Free beer and ice cream at the finish! I also plan on lots of hikes while we are up there. I will keep the spreadsheet up to date for sure.

Have a good day Warriors!

Amy

Hi all.

Quick pop in... DD and I got out and walked to rec again this morning and she did great - no complaining and did a "faster" pace. :thumbsup2 Finished the walk after I dropped her off and then did the mowing.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Another 8.25 miles, 1:11. I had very little energy or drive in my legs, yet still managed the same time as usual.

I received my refurbished Garmin 405 in the mail today. They replaced my original due to battery charging issues.

Hope you're all logging your miles and reps.

Hi Warriors!

Sorry I've been MIA around here. Just had a very bad training week. Had family in from our of town and then went out of town ourselves!

Was back out at the track last night for speed drills, but my body did not want to cooperate in 103 temperatures. I couldn't get my heart to stop racing and my hands started to swell up after about 2 miles. I walked one more mile and then gave up. Oh well...there is always next time. When hopefully it won't be so HOT!!! Back at the lake tonight for another swim! I love swimming now!

Have a great week everyone!

Hello Warriors!

I guess you can call me the Wounded Warrior. I woke up this morning on my day off from work and went to take the first step and my right lower leg was hurting again after a 3.5 mile the previous night.
I was thinking to myself that its been like that for about 4 weeks and I have to officially start "training" for the Spacecoast Half towards the end of AUgust and don't want anything to get in the way.
So I made the call to the podiatrist so he could check out things, check out my shoes, my orthotics (been wearing orthotics for sometime now since I had PF issues). He was feeling around the inner calf shin area and then found a very sensitive spot and a knot. He was concerned I may have a stress fracture. Xrays taken and no stress fracture. So I was diagnosed with pretty good posterior shin splints. I now am fashioning the latest in a compressions sleeve. Looks great on me. Naproxen 2 times a day. Stretching and no flipflops/sandals/ or bare feet. I also am starting therapy next week. No jogging he said would help to heal better but I can still walk and just not add miles at this point. Ice after my walks. Seeing as how about 20% of my miles is joggin I won't miss it much. I also have my new bike so that helps me to keep active.
I did some miles on my bike today when I got home from the Doctor and my massage.

Keep at it Warriors!!

Michelle: to be honest I would have proabaly finished like you did but not have been happy out there in the HEAT!! We all have those yuk moments, so just keep at it and summer will be over soon enough!

Racey Tracy

So sorry you are a wounded Warrior, Tracy! Take care of yourself.

Back out at the lake last night for another great swim! The state idiots keep letting the water out of the lake, so I think our swim was only about a mile this time. Had some major wakes and chopiness to contend with. Especially when two boats decided it would be a good idea to sandwich us. Wakes from all directions!!! I swear I wonder sometimes if people just forget to put their brains in.:confused3 At least I feel safe out there. We have two kayaks (bright green and orange) that go along with us.

I hope to get out for a short run tonight, but we'll see how the heat is. Not sure what happened on Tuesday, but I don't want it to happen again!

Happy training, Warriors!

Wounded warrior! Tracy that sounds awful and very painful. I'm sure you've got excellent advice though and I know being the obedient wonderful example to us (ahem) that you WILL follow it. Then you'll b back on track before you know it.

Amy-so sad to read IT badness! Why don't they make them looser so don't get inflamed?!?! Yeah I kno there's more to it than that :-) have great trip.

Michelle-I'm not in slightest bit surprised ur body didn't want to do speed work.not sure mine would leave the house in that heat so big well done from me.

I kno I haven't mentioned everyone but iphone's playin up so can't see messages and my dory memory is not helpful!

1hr spin yesterday,1hr weights and 3.2 mile run today-bit sketchy earlier in week as had nasty infection. Speakin of which how's America coping with swine flu? Seems to have kicked off over here.

Keep well and keep wonderful, mighty warriors

8.25 miles by feet, 1:14. hmm, cruiser run.

14.5 miles by pedal, 1:06. good ride.

Happy Aloha Friday WISHers.

Jeff! you are on fire!!!! really pleased you had a great ride.

Stacey well done on fitting in a no whingy walk with DD.

Kat i'd love to hear all about your show. What is it? What's it about? I can really see how that would take over!

Tracy how are you!?!?! hope thing's are feeling better.

so i toddled out today and did 9.3miles 1hr 20mins, but it felt like i had a whole herd of children hanging on my legs!
More excitingly, we've started looking for somewhere to rent! I might actually be leaving home (again i guess- did go away from uni). eeeh. This will be the real relationship test i think! :rotfl:

Hope you're having a great weekend warriors.

I picked up my race packet today. Laid out my gear for next week. Is it just me, or is that a lot of stuff for 3 hours???:lmao:

Where the heck are all the Warriors?

Checking in with 14 miles done in 2:13. Walked part of Diamond Head with my training partner, who was having a flare up of back pain.
