Warriors exploding with pride in July.

Hey My Warriors...

I am hanging in there on the wounded warriors list. I have not done any jogging, been wearing my compression sleeve, taking my naproxen, etc. Feeling a bit better. I see the PT on Tuesday so I will see how that goes. I walked 3 mile on Sat with a bike ride of 4.65miles. Basically I rode to the bike shop. I needed the kick stand adjusted, a new helmet and a silicone cover. They also put air in the tires.

Today was a nice steady 6 miles walking. Ice the shin and stretches.

Hope everyone else is hanging in there this summer.

Jeff - looks like you got all your stuff going there... can't wait to hear all about the event.

Tracy

Hi Warriors.

:grouphug: Wounded Warrior Tracy!! You're doing great by following the doc's instructions and will be out there training for Spacecoast in no time.

Jeff - it looks like a lot of stuff now - but I'm sure you'll get use out of all of it. :thumbsup2

Katie - way to go with the miles and workouts!!

Got my butt up and out at 6 this morning so I can get in some miles before Jeff left for work. Got in a nice walk. Will be walking to library with Alicia in a bit. There's "talk" about us (me, Jeff, and Alicia) starting the push-up/sit-up/squat challenge tonight... stayed tuned - schedules look like it might work out. :rotfl2:

Happy Monday Warriors!

This weekend...I finally got on my bike to explore my neighborhood. I rode down the street about a mile and noticed a trail that ran along the water. The Bay Trail, which runs around pretty much the whole SF Bay Area! Whoo hoo score! I rode it out a little over 5 miles, which then I decided...I'm running a half marathon tomorrow I better not go to far. So my total ride came to a little over 11 miles round trip

Napa/Sonoma 1/2 marathon - This ain't no Disney run! They ran out of water the first 2 stops, had some sort of Electrolyte drink called HEED~YUCK! I didn't see one first aid tent, but the run itself was beautiful...the first 6 miles were rolling hills, the weather started out about 60ended up about 80..no winds and very dry. It was HOT! The expo at the end was great, wine tasting, plenty of freebees, and did anyone know that Cliff made wine? All can say is....no wonder we didn't know, it needs improvement. LOL I didn't run with my camera, but I'll post a picture of my medal and wine glass..you'll get a laugh at the medal.

Sorry, I have no idea how to post a picture, but you can cut and paste this link....http://picasaweb.google.com/mjt94502/NapaSonomaHalf#5360722650214306530

Here's a little info about the medal: Each medal is made from cork and painted with the event poster artwork created by French artist Jean-Pierre Got, my question is why is the sheep jumping on the girl with it's tongue hanging out? LOL

Marcia - SCORE! What a great thing to have that trail so close to you! And great job on the 1/2 even though it was lacking...

Tracy - Keep taking care of yourself!

Jeff - You'll do great on your tri! I would say take lots of pics, but look who I'm talking to! The king of taking pictures!

I just finished week 5 of Goofy training. Well...kind of. I started will LR's of 5 then 6 miles. Was supposed to do two weeks of 7 milers, but missed both. So this week (after only one run) I jumped to 8 miles. I was a very slow 8 miles in the heat, but at least I got it done and am back on track! Good thing this is just the beginning of training!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Hi Warriors! I've been away longer than I thought. Sorry. Got super busy here; Mom is not feeling well and I've taken her to doc, got meds, keep company, and do what I can. Training has slowed a bit, but she is now better and I'm good to go again. DH has this week off and I've been keeping company with him. We've done a ton of walking!

I see Tracy is IR. Hope you are healing well.

Sarah, congratulations on your becoming a Mrs.! Many years of happiness together.

Jim, sorry about the tri being canceled.

Marcia, what's that about the medal! LOL!

Kate, Jeff, and all, good job keeping at it!

10.5 miles, 54 minutes. Nice cruise through Waikiki on the bike.

Happy Tuesday WISHers.

Last brick workout, I think...

8.25 miles in 1:15. Garmin must be off, since we were running faster than last week. Felt sub 1:10.

800 meter swim in the rolling seas.

Can't wait for Sunday. Let's get it on.

Hey My wonderful Warriors!

Yes, Wounded Warrior Checking in...hehe

I had my first appointment with the PT yesterday to eval my right posterior shin splints. Lots of, "walk over there, stand like this, stand on one foot then the other, stand up on tippy toes, go back on heals, push down against my hand" and lots of measurements. Then I got some Ultrasound on the area, then the torture began where she just went to town on the areas on the shin where there were knots and stuff - OMG!! I was about in tears!! Then a nice and easy ice massage followed with electric stem with ice. So all in all, lots of fun. She said I can still be doing my reg miles walking but no jogging/running.

So my WISH warrior self got out after work and did 4 miles at about a 14:30 pace which is pretty easy for me, but I got the miles in and there is not way someone is gonna get me to not do it!!!

Marcia - Great Job on that Half and Bonus for the trail!!!

Jeff - Now take it easy (I know that is hard for you)!!!! hehe

Stacey: Great Job getting out there early to get the walks in!!

I am still doing the Push Up and Sit Up Challenge. I do the first column on the Push Up Challenge and then I got back and do the Second Column. The Sit-up Challenge I do the Second Column. Doing oretty well with that.

Tracy

Hello Warriors!

Been a crazy week! Can't believe it's already Thursday! Did 8 miles on Sunday, 3.9 miles worth of fartleks on Tuesday night and a 1.25 mile swim last night. It all seems to have gone by so fast! Oh well...sometimes that is a good thing!

Happy training!

Hey hey wonderful warriors.

I can't believe it's thursday- really haven't stopped until..... now! After birthday fun and 80 pool lengths on monday, running club 6.5miles tuesday, spinning for an hour weds and running lesson this morning 6.2 miles of hills I am exhausted!!!!!

Running lesson was awesome :goodvibes he warned me it was time to tackle my confidence, particularly around hills so we did 5.2 miles of rolling hills followed by hard last mile when averaged 7:30 pace :rotfl2: i don't run that fast :scared1: he is fab and just what i need.

So...

Tracy really pleased you got to physio and they found the knots. Guess you weren't quite as pleased at the time! Electric steam with ice sounds very odd tho. Fab job getting your work in too.

Michelle you're week sounds a bit like mine... but harder! You're amazing, i must pick your brain on mental strength some day

Jeff Garmin being off? I never even consider that! It's great that you're so aware of your pacing tho.

Lily very pleased your mum's better- sending a couple of squidgy cuddles just in case she needs them! You're fantastic for being so much help for her and I'm certain she appreciates it.

Marcia running out of water that early is a bit shocking but all the more credit to you for getting it done and loving it in the process. Who needs such luxuries as water and energy drinks anyway ha ha ha. Medal sounds stunning- hope it goes somewhere special.

STACEY! whoop whoop for your super early six! Did you end up starting any of the challenges? Have to admit with all the warrior hype i did sneak a look at the push up and sit up challenge :)

Next 3 days are assessment days for the gym course so not sure i'll get a whole lot done. Legs might thank me for that tho! So proud of you all :woohoo:

Hey kids-

I haven't checked in for awhile. The kids were all at the office with me for a WEEK while their sitter was on vacation. Then we went on our own vacation trip to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, Tennessee. It was really fun- two days at Dollywood, which we really, really liked; 1 day hiking (with a backpack carrier for the baby- just call me sherpa). Then we drove Emma to camp in Northern Alabama and left her for two weeks.:scared1:

The baby and I are driving back to Alabama at the end of the week to pick up Emma. It's really strange not having her around- they post pictures, so I stalk the camp site constantly and analyze each picture to death.:rolleyes1 So far she looks happy and her latest letter said that "on a scale of 1 to 10 her homesickness level is a 4." ;)

I didn't run much at all during that two weeks. That of course, spiralled into a running funk. I'm trying to get back into it this week- I had two miserable, just get it done kind of runs; than 2 better ones.

Jim-- our climate is great in the winter and all, but it was 75 degrees for the HIGH in Tennessee. I joked around before about how it was swampy and horribly hot here; now I have felt the difference and it's killing me. (I just keep thinking about driving in snow and how we don't have to deal with it...)

Tracy- I'm sorry to hear you're on our wounded list! Sounds like you've got it under control though. Hope you're back to full speed soon.

Marcia- Good work! Sounds like you really earned that medal!

Kate- thinking about that workout with a 7:30 mile at the end makes me hurt. LOL You are so fast!

Got to get out of here before my plans for a lunch run turn into "let's go eat Mexican instead!"

Hello Warriors...
Shout out to Jeff who has his TRI tomorrow!

GO JEFF!!!!

I am still a wounded Warrior but starting to feel better after Friday torture PT session, things are feeling better and I am trying to get in my homework and stretching. I have another PT on Monday.

I was up watching the Tour de France early this morning and when it was over it was STORMING outside. So, I was not able to get out and do my walking miles, I had to leave to go to CanesFest at Land Shark Stadium for a bit and it was still raining.
So later when it cleared up a bit, I got on the BIKE!! Yay! I did 10 miles in 58min. So more miles for the Warriors. I hope to get out and do like 5-6 miles for the old walking legs tomorrow morning and hoping it won't be raining then.

I know some of you (Marica and Jeff) are training right now for the DL 1/2, some have started training for the Goofy and some of us will be along shortly to get going on our training for January. On next months thread I will have everyone try to post what they are doing for training. Any Warriors not doing the Full in Jan??? I am planning on volunteering for the Full at the waterstop around the TTC or the MK, anyone want to join me??

Take care everyone!!

Tracy

Go Jeff! Hope you did as well as you wanted!

Tracy, I'll be doing DL in Sept and will be doing the Goofy so will not be working water stop. Hope you are healing.

Had some training this weekend and lots of fun doing it. We did a bike ride with my friend on Friday then we walked the perimiter of her farm afterwards. Put in a lot of steps and enjoyed everything about the weekend. Now it's back to basics this week.

A picture paints a thousand words...so here's a novel. :happytv:

My video site was hacked, so please go to my Facebook profile page, and look for my video's there.

Way to rock that Tri Jeff! Love the video and pictures!

WTG Michelle, when's your next Tri?

Lily & Tracy - I love cross training with a nice bike ride! Keep it up

Kate - when's your tri? with all the cross training, you should be ready!

I haven't been out running since the Napa/Sonoma half, but I offically start my Goofy training this week. The first few weeks will be easy, since I've already built up a base. I think I'm going to make a chiro and massage appointment to kick off my training...might as well pamper myself now!

Jen i have a wondeful image of you sat at your computer with lines of empty drinks cups watching emma's camp website! Did she have a wonderful time? well done for sticking it out through the 2 evil runs to get the good ones. Doesn't it make it all the more satisfying though :goodvibes

Tracy how are you doing poppet? Been thinking lots of positive and mending thoughts. How was PT yesterday?

Jeff Wahoo for your wonderful tri

Marcia now i can swim in a gym pool and cycle on a stationery bike so I could def do a mini gym triathlon, but definitely not in real life!!! I can't indicate on a bike without falling off :) How exciting that you're actually starting goofy training!!!!

lily that sounds like a fantastic weekend. Don't you just love having such a great time AND getting those steps in too.

Sorry i've been a bit hit and miss lately- absolutely wiped out. Was doing my gym instructor exams over the weekend so haven't had a day off really. Passed my practical which was absolutely terrifying and just waiting to hear about the theory, but think it was ok.

Managed to squish a 4.5miler and 3.1 mile run in on sunday and today, but so tired my contacts wouldn't stay in my eyes this morning- glasses day for me :headache: Been out for 2 meals already this week- so it's a very good job i'm committed to a running programme! :yay:

Not much to report. It was a lazy day for me.

Kate, glad you are getting through the exams.

Jeff, you amaze me with the tri. Wow!

Have a good day tomorrow!

Go team Warriors!!!

Checking in with 8 1/4 miles of lactic acid on the muscles of fun. 1:18, so slightly off our normal weekday pace.

Good training everybody and Happy Wednesday.:thumbsup2

Hey my Wonderful Warriors!!!

It is that time again...
End of the month!!
Time to find where you have put your times and miles information and either post it on the spreadsheet or post it here at the end of July!!!

We will be having a new team member in August, Brandie, and I will let her introduce herself when August rolls around. She will be joining us in Jan. for the races at WDW.

Shin is coming along nicely. Have had 3 PT sessions and 3 more to go and then another checkup with the doctor.

My WaterStop for the full has been taken over by a group so I think the rest of us are going to try and sign up for WS #7. So anyone wanting to volunteer for the FULL or HALF, individual registration is now open. Go to the volunteer thread for the link to the sight to register at.

Tracy
