I am a FL Resident and had found out that I could get a credit back for my cruise that is coming up in 7 weeks (due to FL resident discount). So, I called in on the 16th of this month and was supposed to get a credit of $340 back to the card I have been making payments from (which has been the same from payment 2 on).

Well, here it is the 28th and I haven't seen the credit. So, I called DCL and what has happened is the "system" automatically uses the first card that was ever used on the reservation and gives the credit to that. In my case I made my deposit a year ago on my MasterCard, but since then I have paid off that account and closed it. So, my credit is in limbo. DCL won't do anything about it. So, I had to call my old credit card and they are going to be cutting me a check for the amount they received (thank goodness).

My warning is to make sure to tell the CM each time you make a payment and/or if you are to receive credit back which account you want to use, otherwise the system will "assume" the first one that was ever used.

I think that the system needs to be changed. I used the MasterCard only once and ever since I have been using my CheckCard. In my opinion, it should take the last card you used and even at that they should verify with us on what is going to be used before making the transaction.

Sorry to go on and on. I just needed to vent my frustration.:(

I can understand your frustration.....I booked a cruise 2 years ago and then decided not to go for this July. The card I used then has since been closed out. I was not sure what would happen, but in the meantime we decided to go in May and was able to just move the money over to the new reservation.

Good luck.

I didn't realize you could use your check card. Will Dreams accept payments from your check card?

Your check card is different then the debit card. Check Card has the Visa logo on it and any place that accepts Visa Cards has to accept this card.

So if Dreams accepts Visa card then yes you can use your Check Card.

Yes my card does have the Visa logo on it. Thank you so much for that information. From now on that is how I will be making payments on our December 18 cruise.

It is a nice tool. I don't carry cash around with me as much anymore. I use it at the grocery store, Target, gas stations, etc.

I Luv Disney Cruise - that's a shame. Hopefully it will be straightened out before we sail. Would be nice to have some extra money.
Where did you get the info on the FL Resident? I'm at work now; but plan to call DCL as soon as I get home.

I'm also interested in info on the FL Resident. We booked our May Western Cruise with Disney Vacation Club points for my DH and I and paid cash for our DD and her friend.

Can we get FL resident for the part we paid in cash?

Thanks!

We had this exact same problem...I thought I was the only one!
Our cruise price dropped, so DU changed our ressie. The card we had paid with had been issued by Nextcard, which went broke and was taken over by the FDIC. We had to write to the address for Nextcard inquiries and eventually got a check, but it took quite a while. I sure wish they wouldn't automatically credit the money back to the original card...seems like a bad policy because I'm sure there are lots of people who close an account, switch to another one for a lower interest rate or points, or whatever. It was very frustrating, especially since Disney credited it to a closed account without checking with us, but then we were stuck with the onus of getting it straightened out.

I found out about it on the thread I started for the May 17th Eastern Cruise. Someone had written saying they found out that during our cruise time there is a discount going on for FL Residents. You might want to call and check.

Barb: Sorry about your problem you had. I called the card today and they said they will cut a check today and have it out in the mail by Monday. I hope they hold up their end of that deal.

Using a check card to pay for vacations, etc. might not be the best idea in case of disputes. It is better to have a "middle man" to sort things out if things go bad. This happened last year on my non-Disney vacation. I'm glad those jokers didn't have access to my checking:rolleyes:
