Warning...Warning...Warning...Expedition Everest!!!

I LOVE EE and it's probably my new favorite ride, just barely edging out Tower of Terror for now. I think it's a pretty smooth ride, MUCH smoother than BTMR and Space Mountain, which pretty much rattles all my teeth loose. The backwards in the dark section is very disorienting, but really cool. I've ridden it many times and never seen anyone get sick.

And that is important in a ride. So many coasters are bumpy and to have a ride that smooth, it must be nice.

Sorry to hear it wasn't for him!

It was my favorite ride this trip, I loved it! My girls (9 and 7) loved it too but for them it was a close second after Rock N Rollercoaster!

I love Everest- but I agree with your point on parents dragging unwilling kids. I went on it first and did not let my 6yo dd on it. Way too intense for her. (So I used her fast-pass and went again - Ha!) :lmao:

Let me get this straight. You didn't ride EE, buy you are warning everyone that it is the most horrible ride ever by the reaction of your father. That's kind of like a nun telling you how bad *** is. I've been on many of the coaster rides at WDW with a raging hangover, and can say I've never had the reaction your father had.

Everest isn't much different from BTMRR, except for the backwards part. I would think that's what rattled his brains, since I can't imagine calling it a 'rough' ride.

I did not ride EE when I found out about the backwards part. ( I have some issues with motion sickness).

My dh rode it with my g-daughter twice, back to back, and he didn't feel right the rest of the day. He wouldn't even ride soarin for fear it would trigger a sick stomach. He has ridden soarin plenty of times before.

Like another poster said, people react differently to things.:confused3

It is a very smooth coaster but the backwards part gives you a very different feeling. You can tell yourself that you are not upside down but you really feel like you are!

Personally I would rather ride it than BTM. I rode EE twice in a row once and I did feel a bit shaky when I exited!

I hope your father was OK and didn't need to sit the rest of the day out. This thread is a great example of how different people are affected by different rides. I don't go on coasters that go upside down and oftentimes chicken out on riding coasters that have a drop of more than 100 feet. I very willingly and eagerly rode Everest after watching a ride video on youtube (I do that for every ride I think I might want to ride to see if it's OK ;) ) and loved it so much that I rode it 5 times on the day I visited AK a week ago! It's now my #2 ride ever, with only The Raven at Holiday World ahead of it!

OK - I need some help. I have heard that BTMRR is really tame and there are no hills, that it is just fast and a bit jerky, like a fast train and the EE is more like a traditional rollercoaster with big hills. Posters here seem to think the 2 rides are very similar. I thought that I would ride BTMRR but not EE because I like speed, but I cannot do big hills - I get sick going down big hills in a car! Can someone enlighten me more about these 2 rides? TIA:goodvibes

Personally...I don't think they are alike at all...except for the fact that you go inside on both. EE is MUCH smoother than BTMRR will ever be! BTMRR has plenty of hills as well as three chain lifts...but no huge hills. EE has the one big hill but again...nothing huge. I'm used to the big coasters but really enjoy both rides.

Wow, and I thought I was a wimp! I get pretty motion sick but I found EE to be really tame...

Just goes to show how different everyone is!

My husband and I have talked about this, and he thinks that different things make different people motion sick.

For me, it's a sudden onset of acceleration, so the sudden drops and overall banging around I get on Big Thunder Mountain is more upsetting to me than any motion I feel on Everest.

I find Everest to be very smooth, and I could ride it repeatedly. Big Thunder Mountain batters me, and I absolutely can't look off to the side/turn my head when we go around the curves or I'd get really sick.

We all loved EE. Rode it three times the same day, twice back to back.

First time I rode EE, I got queasy, I think from the unexpected backward in the dark moves...I rode it again, immediately after the first time, and I was fine. I have no problem on THunder Mountain RR, unless I ride it more than 4 times in a row without getting off the ride (did this once on e-ride nights)..then I had to stop.

DH and I love BTMRR, and we usually ride it multiple times if the lines aren't too long. Before our early December trip, I read here that EE is comparable in intensity. For me, EE was a one time only experience. I felt sick for a couple of hours afterwards. DH didn't fell well either after the ride was over, but he recovered more quickly than I did. I think the backwards part was what did me in, even though I knew it was coming.

or at least I think so--I read your post and then I thought wow the title was kind of dramatic and then I read your user name!!!:rotfl2:

I also thought that EE was 100 times smoother than BTM. I would not ride BTM again due to the jerk factor! we loved EE, BUT non of us get motion sickness, I can see it though with the directional change of the coaster!!

I find BTMRR to be more rough and jerky, but there is nothing scary about it at all. I don't feel like it is much of a thrill ride.

EE is certainly a thrill ride, but smoother. I was light-headed and felt like I was bouncing for about an hour after I got off. I rode it again a couple of hours later and tried the left side. The effect for me was not as bad, but my friend thought the right side was worse. I think it is the helix. Also, the backwards drop hurt my chest the first time and I thought I was going to pass out. :(

Either way, I did it (twice) and don't care to do it again.
