Recently I have received two emails both headed:
RE: QUESTION FOR SELLER-- Item #xxxxxxxxx
The emails appear to be a misdirected question regarding auctions that are not mine. Both emails ask for costs of shipping to different states.
The first impulse is to reply and to say that the email has been misdirected.
DON'T DO THAT!
By responding, or clicking on the enclosed link, you may open a virus, or possibly the beginning of ID theft.
Forward the email to eBay Safe Harbor. They will quickly let you know if the email came from within the system.
In both cases, the eBay auction number in the email contained ONLY nine digits. EBay uses ten digit numbers!
Safe Harbor believes that it is an attempt to launch a virus. I think it's more than that.
Be advised eBay sellers...
