For those of you who have what I call "Lack of or little stamina"...Beware. I am in my mid fifties with diabetes and arthritis..I don't need a wheel chair to get around the parks...but, elect to take my breaks here and there. I didn't know there would be so much walking to even get to the stadium where the performance is watched...much less having to climb all the way to the top of the stadium once we arrived there....My sister and I went in May...at that time... not a lot had been written about the attraction at the time....So..I was a bit taken back...Honestly...I didn't think I was going to make it up those stairs a few times....My hips and knees hurt so bad....and the "people traffic" kept going at a constant flow..(it seemed to me)....Whew! It didn't seem so long ago..when I could have carried a baby in my arms...hopping up those stairs... :sad2:

It really sounds like you need a wheelchair if that much walking is a problem for you.

There is no reason to be in pain from too much walking at WDW, use a whelchair or ECV. You can't enjoy your trip if you're in pain. My Mom uses a w/c at WDW (we travel with our own when we drive, rent one when we fly). She gets around fine at the resorts and at home on daily life, but the parks are just too much for her after 3 hip surgeries.

Don't let pride and stubborness ruin your vacation. That stadium is a cake walk compared to some of the evacuation routes for rides when they break down.

Definitely use the wheelchair! Lights, Motors isn't the only 'big' stadium (Indiana Jones is a long walk to the bottom, Fantasmic! is huge, etc) so if the walking is bothersome a wheelchair is a fantastic relief.

My mother has a bad hip that she just doesn't seem to get around to fixing so we brought a wheelchair for her last year. The walking was going to be too much for her when it was hot or late, and certainly after a few days into the trip when she was starting to get tired. She bit the bullet, got into the wheelchair, and we were ALL a whole lot happier!

I have to agree with op about the walking for that attraction. I am an able bodied person & have no quams about walking but that set up is a bit much. The day we went they had 2 stairways open, one for fast pass users & the other for regular line. The wait to walk up the stairs was crazy. I was getting closetrphobic (can't spell sorry) & needed air! People were pushing & banging into one another. The steps are steep. I felt sorry for guests with little children. It wasn't until most of the sections were filled up did they open the last set of stairs. They should have it more organized or at least open all stairways. :confused3 :confused3

It is a long walk, but I also agree with the other posters that maybe a wheelchair or ECV might in order.

There's no shame in using one...goodness, I'm 31 and in good health..and there are days when my feet and legs are hurting by the end of the day.

I also agree that you can't truly enjoy your vacation if you're in pain. :grouphug:

My mom has no problem walking, etc but she is 70 and my sister went with her to the show and knew right away my mom wouldn't make it up those steps. She told a CM and they gave them seats down below.

The difficulty my mom had with LMA is the benches have no backs, making it uncomfortable to sit after a few minutes.

I have never had any other problems with the other "stadium" type attractions before....Indiana Jones was a breeze...Fantasmic was nothing...I think the combination of "running" to the attraction(not realizing I should have gotten a fast pass).....only to keep walking around and around once we got there....then climbing up the steps..did me in....At times..there wasn't anything to grab on to....while climbing....
I used to be able to be right at the opening of the parks and keep on going until closing...Now...I get there after 9:00...and then possibly go back to the room at 8:00 or 9:00. A wheel chair at this point and time would only make me even a bit stiffer... :Pinkbounc But, when the times goes come...believe me..I'll get one..... :teeth:

Hey, I know what you mean! I am 39 and in very good health and w/ the heat, the long walk and the hike to the top of the stairs, it almost did me in.
I'm glad they sound like they will accommodate people who can't climb to the top.
