warning for any one who has booked a package deal with Thomson

Hi everyone recived a phone call from my friend yesterday that has just retuned from her first visist to Disney , she booked in 2008 through Thomson a package which included staying at the all star resort , when she arriaved at the hotel she handed over all her documnets to be told that they had there names but they could not provide them with a room as Thomson had not paid Disney for the acomodation . It transpires after many frantic phone call back to the uk and to Thomson Florida office( which after two call to them they turned there phone to answer machine ) that they use brokers to buy there acomodation and the broker that they used for my fireinds acomodation was travel city which as you all know went bust last year about the time she booked the holiday . They wanted her to pay for the acomodation and then claim in back when she got home

After two hours of standing at the counter Disney where fantastic finding them a room for the duration of her stay becuase at the start they said they could only acomodate her for one night as it was spring hols , they gave her money to go and have a meal and deliverd a food basket to there room . All I can say about Thomson is that they where so un helpful and they runnied what should have been a magical start to the holiday arriving on Disney property . So my advice would be to any one who booked last year maybe you should make a quick call to Disney and make sure that your acomodation has been paid for .

PS she did have a fantastic holiday after this and has well and truley caught the Disney bug .

Shame on Thompson staff in the Florida office switching the phone to answer machine makes you wonder if your friends were'nt the first to arrive to in Florida to be met with the shame problem and trying to get help from these Thompson Reps

What a terrible start to a dream holiday! Im glad they had a good time in the end!

I feel sorry for people who get hit with nasty surprises like this, when you book a package holiday you expect to get looked after by the TA and assume everything is being taken care of.

This is one of many reasons I don't book packages, I like to be in 100% control of my holiday planning!
