Warning! Disney Dining CM's a bit testy today!

Just got off the phone with Disney Dining. Was trying to make the long awaited CP reservations. After calling right at 6 a.m. CST and being on hold for 15 minutes, a young man answered and asked how he could help me. I said I would like to make CP reservations. His answer was "I'm sorry, we are not taking them today, you can try back tomorrow." I told him I realize he doesn't make the rules, but I am disappointed that Disney changed the date for making the reservations. This is what he said.

"Oh, I'm sorry, did Disney officially announce on our WEBSITE you could make your reservations today? I don't think so, but here, let me check it for you." (insert sarcastic tone)

I explained the information I had was from various CM's at DD. He went on to explain they (the CM's) just walked into "this" 15 minutes ago, any information I was given by any CM was their effort to help in the best way they could and was there anything else he could help me with. I said he could help me by letting me know when I would be able to make my reservations instead of "TRY back tomorrow". He said that was the best he could do.

I did tell him, at the end of our "conversation" that he sounded a bit testy, especially when his day had only started 15 minutes ago. The lack of CP reservations being taken was going to make his day a long one, there would be many people upset, but his attitude and sarcastic tone was not going to help the matter.

I'm glad I don't work for DD today! If by 6:15 a.m. (7:15 their time) the CM's sound at the end of their rope, can you imagine what they will sound like by noon?

What reason would a person be not able to book a reservation for Crystal Palace on a particular day?

If someone was that sarcastic and rude with me, my words would have been a good deal less "encouraging" than even that. :rolleyes: Good thing I didn't get that CM when I called! :)

CP is also Candlelight Procession Dinner package for Epcot during the X-mas holidays

I made ADRs this morning, just after 7AM. And the CM was as polite and helpful as I could hope. :thumbsup2
 
Charleyann... Candlelight Processional, not Crystal Palace (in case you weren't joking)

Robo... He may not of appreciated my telling him he was coming across testy and sarcastic, but I do think he needed to know that is what he was doing. It gives him the opportunity to change what and how he is saying to people. Trust me, if he continues speaking to people the way he did to me I'm not sure others would be as nice as I was. And I was nice.

Just for the record, I do feel sorry for the CM's today. It will be a looooong day for them. Here is to hoping tomorrow is better!

Biker... you obviously weren't trying to book a CP :rotfl: Seriously, every other time I have ever called DD they have been great. Hope you got all the reservations you wanted, perfect times, perfect places!

You never know what is really going on in someones life that prompts behavior. Last week I called my daughters guidance office to make a schedule change and the woman was extremely rude. Instead of getting upset, I was as nice as I could be to her, and even said "Wow ...you sound stressed...Are you OK?"

The woman then told me about her difficult morning, dealing with screaming parents.

Sometimes people just have bad days. Instead of perpetuating the bad day, just try to make it better for them. :)

I agree that you never know what is going on in someones life. I would like to point out I was not perpetuating this CM's bad day, I was polite and nice, but after his continued unwarranted sarcasm and testiness, I did tell him how he was coming across.

I deal with the public on a daily basis. It is my job to accept each customer as they come, to help them to the best of my ability, and to do it with a smile. Do I always succeed? No, I wish I did, but I am human too. But I have always looked at my job as a place where my personal life does not enter. If I am having a bad day it is not my customer's fault.

The whole point of this post was to warn people who are making reservations today that the CM's might not be at their jolly best. That is, of course, if the CM I got this morning just 15 minutes into his shift is any indication.

Due to system difficulties, bookings of the Candlelight Processional packages will go on sale 1 day late, on June 16th at 7am, EST. Not June 15th, as originally planned

I guessing TP meant August instead of June.
