Warning about pizza delivery

I realize that this is happening at many of the resorts.
We just became DVC members, but the one reason we did not purchase at SSR is because of the easy access from Downtown Disney. To much public access.

I was concerned with the nightclubs and outside influence there on the weekends. I have 2 pre-teens who will want to have more independence soon and didn't want them to have access to Downtown Disney, and vice-versa.
A previous post quoted a security guard saying they sneak in from Downtown Disney. That's too bad.

PS - Yes, I have the Giordano's # also.

Thanks for the heads up but most importantly thanks for letting me know there is a Giordano's near Disney. I rarely venture out of the park but I'm definitely going to get a stuffed crust!:cheer2:

thank you - of course since I can't touch pizza in the first place - don't know why I am replying.

thanks anyway.

I think non-resort "visitors" is a big issue at the EPCOT resorts, SSR, and will be at BLT. OKW, VWL, and AKV are more remote - you have to take a special trip to get there. SSR is across from DTD, BWV and BCV get all the EPCOT/Swan/Dolphin visitors and the pools are very tempting to "crash" (and after staying at BCV and being wrist-banded - it seems like any KTTW would get you a wrist band). CR draws all the off-site guests via. the monorial and the ever-popular Chef Mickeys. The only time I've ever been creeped out at Disney was when a very disheveled and clearly mentally ill man got on the CR bus at DTD.

It's always wise to keep your wits about you at a busy resort.

We have used Giordano's several times while staying at OKW. We always pay at the door with cash when they deliver. They offer not just pizza, but sandwiches, soups, pasta etc.

It's great for resorts, like OKW, that have pretty much no food options after 10 pm. I am hoping they will be able to deliver to AKV (Kidani Village) as well since there are no plans for a CS place to eat.

But thanks VERY much for the head's up about the fliers. I'll be heading down to WDW in a couple weeks and this is good to know.

Would you care to spill the beans on the number and do you have a review to share?

Review:
how about NY Times: "The Ultimate Pizza"
or many awards in Chicago like "Giordano's Deep Dish is by far the Best In Chicago"
While I might give a slight edge to Gino's East as the best Pizza ever, Giordano's is a darn close second. not only leaps and bounds above anything at Disney, but better than anything where I live, too..

Now all I can think about is our first trip home and ordering Giordano's. Thanks a LOT;) :earsboy:

Thanks for posting this! Just received one of the flyers under my door at BWV. I phoned the front desk and they confirmed, "Don't order from the flyer." They are sending security out and about.

This may have been posted before, and if I'm repeating something I apologize.

My friend was staying at SSR over the weekend and when she came back to her room the first night there was a pizza delivery menu shoved under her door. She didn't think anything of it, just stuck in on the counter. The next morning she had a problem with her door lock, and called the maintenance guys. When the repairman came in, he saw the ad and said: "You didn't call those guys, did you?" My friend said no, and he said: "Good, because it's a scam. Notice there is no address on the page? The number goes to a pre-paid cell phone. They take your credit card number for the pizza order, and you never get a pizza. We're trying to crack down on them, but they keep sneaking in from Downtown and shoving these things under the doors." He asked if he could take the ad and give it to the office. Of course, she gave it to him.

Bottom line-don't order pizza-or anything else from a menu shoved under your door!

We were just at SSR the first week of January and got a pizza flyer; we almost ordered from it, too! Thanks for posting :thumbsup2

You can get onto the property of any Disney resort, regardless of location. SSR is not any less secure.

With the economy in the tank the low lifes are everywhere including Disney World, everyone just has to be more proactive in being careful. If you get a questionable flyer notify the Front Desk immediately so hopefully they can catch them on the property.

Order pizza from a known local or use Disney, I actually find their pizza to very good.

Hello. We are staying at OKW this next Monday for 6 nights and we are going to try this pizza. How long do we need to allow for delivery so that I can judge when to call. We arrive MCO around 5 ish....get bags, we use a car service and are doing a grocery stop. I was thinking of ordering on our way to OKW since it will be after 4....our viilla should be ready. Any suggestions??Thanks. Oh and we plan on ordering the chicago style too.

It's a substantial pizza that takes a while to cook, I'd guess around an hour for delivery near that non-peak time (you could call now just to see what the current wait would be?)
The potential problem with your plan, will you have the room number? They would deliver to your room #, not the lobby..

Oh good point....need that room number. Hmmmmmm I will need to work on my plan then.

We were at POR and received a flyer.
It was red and shoved under our door around 7:00 p.m.
Scared me to death, because they actually tried the door and then the flyer came through.
I looked outside and I could not see anyone.
Plus we had one on our rental vehicle.

And proactive doesn't just mean ignore it... Just like Internet spam and viruses you have report things immediately. That is the only way the authorities can catch these people. Yes the cell phone number might connect to a place that our authorities have no jurisdiction, but someone placed that flyer under your door and time is critical to catch them. Just like the show 48 hours. If you see a flyer slipped under your door and call the authorities immediately, there is a chance they can be caught before they are even done doing their job.
