Warm Summer Nights & Cold Dole Whip - live dining report ~ just arrived~ 8/22

Hi all,

Just landed at MCO , smooth flight out of NYC.

We are staying at Wildernesses Lodge, got free dining via last summer’s Bounceback.

Will update with pictures for all my DiS boards foodies.

Lunch was poolside at Geyser Point. Bison burger (DH said tasted like frozen patties). Waffle fries were good

Tonight was Epcot. It was no problem getting in (I had heard with the construction it had been bad lately, but we got there at 4:30 and had no problems getting in).


It was brutally hot waiting for the Epcot bus at 4:00, like 97 in the shade! But it got cooler later which was good.



Here was the shrimp cocktail, it was just ok. The texture was better when I had it last year.



My son got the lobster bisque (note, that’s what’s so nice about being on the dining plan, my 14 year old gets to try different dishes). This only had one teeny piece of lobster and tasted more like a cheese sauce as opposed to a true lobster bisque. He only had a little of this.



My DD loved the garden salad with ranch dressing (kids meal).



I got the swordfish over arugula and white beans. I did not like the sauce at all. I would not order this again.

DH was very happy with this cedar salad and steak. He also loved his Jack Daniels mousse dessert. Overall Coral Reef is a hit or a miss and tonight for me was more of a miss. But where else can you get a view like this when you eat;


I’m off to bed, I’ve been up since 3AM as we had A 6:30 AM flight to MCO. Night all! Will update more tomorrow.

Today was our first full day - the day I feel we always overdo it! We did 7 straight hours of touring , with us exhausting in the summer heat - but got a ton of fun experiences st 2 parks!

Started out by sleeping in. I picked up quick service breakfast at roaring forks and brought it up to our room, just Mickey waffles and scrambled eggs then we swam an hour, this was

A picture of the quiet pool at 7AM it’s very crowded throughout the day. What I can’t stand is all the ball throwing in the quiet pool - sorry pet peeve of mine. Got hit with the ball and the kids could have cared less. Definitely not enjoying the pool as much this year unfortunately.

We toured Epcot first and had a late lunch / early dinner at Via Napoli



Everything was fantastic. (Although DH was very underwhelmed with his chicken parmigiana).

I loved the spinach ravioli and the kids loved their margarita pizza





I was full and skipped dessert but my DH and sister had the tiramisu and cannoli which they liked.


After this we were off to AK, had a second dessert. There’s a soft serve ice cream big food truck right before Everest , it was fantastic! One of the better soft serve ice cream we had.

Loving your report so far! I completely agree about the ball play. And it's not always kids. I was hit in the GF courtyard pool when three men were playing.

I've been wanting to try the bison burger at Geyser Point ... bummed to hear it wasn't a hit. Margherita pizza at Via Napoli is a perpetual fave! Looking forward to more.
