Saturday 24th December 2005.

Woohoo! Today is Christmas Eve!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

We awoke to another mild, sunny day and after breakfast at the hotel we bussed over to the park and had a lovely day. First we rode Peter Pan, then the girls had their photo taken with Cinderella and then we went to Frontierland where we rode Big Thunder Mountain, collected fastpasses for later and explored the Legends of the Wild West which we had not been in before.

We then watched Mickey’s Christmas show at the Fantasy Festival Stage. This was a lovely show and we all enjoyed it.

After coming out we wandered through Belle’s Christmas Village which was so pretty and quaint. I thought all the park looked lovely with its Christmas decorations but Fantasyland was especially pretty.

We had just missed Belle’s Musical Medley but managed to get our photo taken with the Beast!!! paw:

Back to Big Thunder Mountain to use our fastpasses and we decided to have lunch at Fuente del Oro. I was really impressed with the quality of the food here considering it is fast food and it was a lovely setting. Some little birds had flown in and we had a great time watching them pluck up the courage to peck some crumbs off the tables!

After lunch we wandered through Adventureland, and went in Le Passage Enchante d’Aladdin. We noticed that the park was definitely getting less busy and went over to Pirates of the Caribbean where we rode in a boat on our own! :sail: We decided that as we would probably never get to ride all by ourselves ever again we would treat ourselves to the ride photo. Of course, someone always has their eyes shut or has their head blocking someone else so we ended up riding it three times in a row just to get a half-decent photo!!! This was the end result and we have bought a fun POC frame to keep it in but unfortunately I couldn’t scan that!

After that it was time to watch the Christmas parade on Main Street. We sat down on the kerb outside the Boardwalk Candy Palace and my goodness, the weather may have been very mild but the pavement certainly wasn’t!!! :cold: We soon found some carrier bags and sat on them which did help a little!!!

The parade was fantastic, especially Father Christmas being pulled by real reindeer and when it snowed it was so magical! I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming and really was at Disney for Christmas!!!

The floats looked really great with all their Christmas decorations and I just love the tin soldiers, one at the back was very naughty and kept waving to people!

The girls had their photo taken with Father Christmas in his sledge and we then went to stake a place out for the Enchanted Fairytale Ceremony.

We stood between the castle and the stage on Central Plaza and had a fantastic view. It was a really lovely ceremony with beautiful music, very fitting for Christmas Eve, and when Tinkerbell lit the castle it was just so so beautiful. :tink: I tried to take some photos of this but none that truly do it justice. On their way between the castle and the stage, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Chip, Dale, Donald, Daisy and the Princesses and Princes were greeting people and shaking their hands. On the way back to the castle Minnie spotted the cuddly Minnie that Francesca was holding and came and took it and showed it to Mickey. They both danced around with it for ages and then kissed it before giving it back to Francesca. She was almost speechless with delight. It was one of those moments you want to treasure for ever and all I can say is thank you Disney for making one nine year old girl’s Christmas so very very special. pixiedust: :cloud9:

We all thought we had done enough waiting around today what with the parade and the Fairytale Ceremony so we decided to leave watching Fantillusion to another night.

We made our way over to Big Thunder Mountain and rode it again and again. This is the first time we had ever ridden it in the dark and wow! what an experience!!! It is like a different ride at night, there are so many things that you do not see in the day that you do at night! Each time we rode it the queuing time was less and less until it was down to a complete walk on! Unfortunately all too soon it was time for the park to close and we had to leave.

We had not arranged anywhere to eat that night and wandered over to the Village but there were huge queues spilling out of every restaurant. To be honest, none of us were hungry so we caught the bus back to the hotel, had a drink in the bar and then bought some tortilla chips, crisps, popcorn, marshmallows and coke in the shop and had a little snack in our room. Not very healthy I know, but well, we were on holiday!!! :teeth:

Then time to sleep, for tonight is Christmas Eve and Father Christmas will be very busy!!! As Francesca said earlier, “We met him today, he knows we are here, he won’t forget us now!!!” :santa:

I really enjoyed reading your trip report. :thumbsup2

Your photos are beautiful. :cloud9:

One question, how steep is that drop on Pirates of the Caribbean? I would like to take my boys aged 5 and 3 on, but not sure if it is suitable.

Thanks. :goodvibes

Thank you. :)

There are two drops and they are both mild ones. You don't have to be strapped in at all on this ride so I am sure your boys will be fine.

My daughter was 3 and the drops were the only reason she went on the ride. They are very tame and for a younger child i am sure they are very exciting.

Ware Bears i am amazed that you managed to get such a good photo on POTC. All the ones of ours had mostly other people in and you could hardly see us in the photo at all.

I love your photos of the parade, brings back lovely memories of our tripin december, apart from the cold. I like to forget that.

We were amazed it was just us in a boat, that's why we had to buy the photo! Mind you, it still took us 3 goes to get a decent one! We were humming the song in our sleep that night! :rotfl: "Yo ho ho......!!!" :rotfl2:

I can relate to that. I was walking around humming "its a small world" for days after we came home. My daughter did not help. She's got a disney album with the song on and inisits on playing that one song over and over....

(Not sure if this is the place to admit this, but i can not stand "its a small world".)

Great report and photographs.
Laughed at your antics for POTC photograph as we were the same. Took a while to figure out where we all had to be on the boat, although not as lucky as you with empty boat.

I thought I'd load my photo to show DD7, DS5, DD3. DD3 is sitting on mum's knee :)

Isn't it great when they still believe in Santa

Another brilliant trippie- I know what you mean about BTM in the dark- we went on it in the evening for the first time in October and it was amazing!!!!!!!!

I think this is one of those songs that you either love  or hate! :furious:

Personally, I love it but I fear I am in the minority! ;)

Excellent report Elaine ~ Thanx for sharing :goodvibes
