Hi I have a question about buying. I was just wondering if I could buy a resale contract, and still buy a contract direct through Disney and still be considered a "member" that way. And if so, what is the minimum points Disney will make you buy direct? Thank you!

After your resale contract closes, and is in Disney's system, you are then eligible for the member pricing.

If you're planning to end up with a mix of direct and resale points, and have time to wait for the resale process, it's been advised here to purchased the resale first. You'll be eligible for any member discounts and with direct they can (usually) match your user year.

If you are wondering about blue card benefits, the minimum is 125. That will give you the blue card membership,

If you just want direct points so you can use them at RIV and future resorts, since resale points can not, then the minimum is 25 for older resorts and 50 for RIV and CCV...unless financing and then its 50 for any resort.

Oh, I missed the intent of the OP's question, and realize I might have caused some confusion.

As @Sandisw pointed out... you need to purchase 125 direct points (currently) to get the "blue card" benefits (i.e. discount on AP's, dining, shopping, etc.)

However, you are still eligible for the member discounts to add on direct points even if only own a resale contract.
I'm currently a resale only DVC owner, and I'm often tempted to look at the direct promotions

You're a member either way.

Qualified for all benefits is the 125 that was mentioned.

As a resale buyer you still are able to visit TOTWL at BLT, can pool hop and have access to DVD rentals at the resorts.
