Want VGC points- what would you do?

VGC is the hole in our DVC holdings. We have plenty of points, well, I mean is there such a thing as enough?, but we do go to DLR frequently and though we’ll have been lucky a few times with the 7 mo window I don’t expect that to last after SW. SO, questions:
In the last downturn, how did VGCs resale pricing fare?
Do we think there will be a DVC option in the new resort (personally I do)?
If yes, how will that effect VGCs pricing/ avail?
What do we speculate the new prop would cost? With VGC being $235 direct ...
After SW, will there be any 7 mo left at all even 1 bed with the inevitable rental requests surge?
What is the likelihood a viable DVC exchange marketplace? Say, I have X VGF points and would like to easily match with folks who have VGC holiday or BCV F & W...

If you didn’t need points but you wanted to def stay at VGC when you wanted to, factoring all of the above, would you buy at current prices? Wait for the next downturn? Wait to see if there is a new offering and buy direct/ better, easy way to swap points?

There will not be DVC in the new 5-star hotel. The city of Anaheim would have to approve a Conditional Use Permit to allow it, within the cap of 150 total timeshare units allowed in the DL Resort Area Plan. The 150 cap includes the units already at VGC.

Anaheim would require public hearings and a vote on the CUP. It could not be done quietly or quickly or unlaterally by Disney.

And the current Anaheim leadership are not happy Disney is using the tax credit on thenew hotel. Odds on them okaying a new CUP are low, either for the new resort or for conversions at DLH or even GC.

Even if you think they would approve the CUP, you are looking at a Max of 70 or so new units, so I would not expect availability there or at VGC to open up.

And to go past the 150 cap requires a lot more than a CUP. So.

What a shame. Originating from So Cal it’s easy to look around the vicinity and see what Anaheim would be without DLR.

Well, okay, so the questions begs then to buy VGC now or wait for an inevitable economic ebb?

It would be great if members had a members only exchange mechanism to swap points. It wouldn’t harm DVCs business I wouldn’t think.

You can transfer from one member to another, but you are limited to one transfer in or out each UY. You'd have to transfer into one UY and then transfer out of the next UY.

Right, but you have to find and coordinate that out in the world and trust and arrange etc. I’m talking about a facilitated online exchange. Points are changed hands simultaneously.

That would be so nice! I just did a transfer for cash and it was a little stressful. I own VGC resale ($140 pp almost 2 yrs ago) then was lucky enough to get 50 direct off the waitlist in the fall while it was still $185 pp. I would be interested in swapping for highly desirable WDW points in the future, and 2 transfers (in/out) would be fine because I have 2 UYs. I guess that’s considered a trade on the R/T board? Would be less stressful than paying cash for a transfer... just one 3-way call to MS to do 2 transfers at same time. What WDW resorts do you own?

The potentially tricky thing about this is I believe you’re only allowed one transfer in or out per UY. So although you can transfer from one UY account and receive points into your other UY, you’d need to also find someone with two UYs so they can do the same.

Right! Unless it was in different years? For example if they wanted my June 2018 points and I wanted their Feb 2019 points. Then wouldn’t require 2 UYs I think, a person with one UY would be fine. I believe you can transfer in the current UY and next UY.

I think what you are getting at is an agreement to book for one another. A BCV owner books 6 nights during F&W and a GCV owner books 4 nights in March, both in the other party's names. Any point differential could be made up with cash transaction.
That would make me nervous to have a total stranger staying on my points, as my responsibility, but I guess it would be the same as renting out points. It seems doable if you could ever find the perfect match.

I just closed on VGC at $149PP... A steal considering what it is direct now. If you can get close to that, I say do it and do it fast. Reasonable is still out there.
