Want to use DME & get cheap car on WDW - How?

I'm getting in kind of late on a Friday night to pick up a car, and besides... I like the fact that Disney handles luggage back to the room on DME, so I'll take DME and let them carry the bags.

The next day, I want to rent a car for the week. What's the best way to get an inexpensive car for nothing but 5 passengers? (not transporting luggage). Alamo onsite seems expensive... but I don't know the tips

BTW, I got a great email PIN that let me get 40% off room rates. Now I don't want to give all that savings to the car rental company!!!

I should also say I booked a MYW vacation w/ dining (they were able to convert my pin to a MYW code) so I am eligible for DME

Travelocity dot com gives a variety of rental companies and their rates when you specify the city and dates you want to rent.

Mousesavers dot com often lists a variety of discount codes you can plug into the various rental companies' own web sites.

From time to time people on these boards suggest a discount code or two.

After you make a reservation, keep checking back. You can often make a new cheaper reservation with a different company and a minute later cancel the reservation you last had.

I just need to ensure that the rental company will they deliver or shuttle to a WDW resort. The hotwire or expedia routes seem to give me airport choices, or other rental agencies w/ a physical address that shuttles to/from MCO. Can I get one while on resort?

When we were there I rented a car at the Dolphin from National for a few days.

You could use the shuttle to get to the Dolphin by using one of the theme parks as a transfer point.

We were at the YC so I just walked over.

Enterprise is the only company I know of that delivers the car to you (some limitations apply). Although picking up a car from the Dolphin or other on site location where rentals are offered does not incur various airport related surcharges, the total price of a rental from the airport is still competitive or even lower.

Dollar has a local agency at the Grosvenor Resort in Lake Buena Vista. According to the website, they will pick customers up at a local hotel. It says to call the location for details.

Just FYI, you don't need to book a package to be eligible for DME. You just have to be a Disney resort guest. Room only or package, 1 night or 10 nights, dining or no dining -- makes no difference.

For convenience (as long as it's not lots more expensive) one or two of you could rent a car at MCO on the night you arrive, and the rest of the party can take the DME bus and still have ALL of the luggage automatically delivered. As long as at least one person on the reservation number rides the DME bus, all luggage related to that reservation number will be delivered by DME.

Even if it is a little more expensive, it may be worth it if it saves you wasted time the following day hunting down a rental car when you'd rather be enjoying your vacation instead.

Make sure you pack a bag for your night stuff. It is nice that they handle the luggage but it can take up to 4 hours to actually get your luggage in your room. It isn't like the luggage actually rides on the bus with you. So make sure you pack for that night in a carry on luggage since you will be getting in late!

National/Alamo came & picked us up at WL took us to the Car Care Center & we got our car. We did make an appt 24hrs ahead of time.
