....but don't want to be in long lines for either! Yeah, spoiled brat, I know...but I hear that if you attempt to see the lights, you should go during the first Fantasmic showing, which I would love to do. My problem is, I want to do the Fantasmic dinner package, which only allows VIP seating for the FIRST showing (at least that's what the CM told me when I booked). So, do I

a) go to the Fantasmic first showing, and hope that the line to see the lights isn't ridiculously long later that night?

b) cancel my Fantasmic package, go to the second Fantasmic show without the package, hope the lines for the second show aren't ridiculously long, and try to see the Osborne lights during the first show?

c) wait until park hours and the second Fantasmic show are officially announced, and see if I can get a package for the second show, making this whole conversation moot?

Always see the last Fantasmic! showing of he night, so I'd go with B

When are you going? Makes a difference. If before the huge Cristmas week crowd plan b makes since; (c) will not work because there is not a dinner package for second Fantasmic. If you are going during the huge crowd time, best time to go to Osbourne is night they have the three hour extra magic hours at MGM and go at midnight by which time the crowd thins out.

I am planning to go c the osborne lights thanksgiving nite after the last show of fantastmic, is this not possible? Should I plan on going to see the lights the night b4 thanksgiving, but thats the first nite they r there, who thinks it will be more crowded then?

I'm going during the huge crowds, so I guess I'm leaning towards b myself. I guess I'm hoping against hope that they offer the package for second fantasmic show, but I guess they never do that? Still, I have to wait for the hours to come out, so I know for sure which night is EMH for MGM. I probably already have something booked for that night somewhere else, though...ahhh, the perils of overbooking!

We were there for Christmas last year and there were 3 Fantasmics that week. We went to the last one and walked in to the theater not even 10 minutes before the show was to start and had our pick of seats in lots of different sections. My youngest isn't always great with fireworks so we figured we would do it if we could get in without a lot of waiting. I didn't want to pay for a package and have him flip out and have to leave and I didn't want to stand in line for an hour and a half and have it happen either. So this option worked beautifully for us! BTW, my little one LOVED it. :)

We have never seen the Osborne lights, and I've been searching for a suggested time to go to the lights to avoid crowds, but haven't found one. I have an ADR for the Brown Derby at 6 p.m. the second week of December. Will it interfere? What is the best time?

Tia!

We seen the last Fantasmic show and then went over to Osborne lights. Hardly any crowd at all.

Any more suggestions? I'm trying to avoid all parks on their EMH, which makes it difficult now that they have them a.m. and p.m. Should I drop the Fantasmic package, which has me eating at a ridiculously early hour anyway (who wants dinner at 3:50?)? My DH wants dinner at HBD, but I can rebook a more reasonable hour for that, probably, but I'd have to do it soon. All the ADRs for that week are getting increasingly difficult to make. And I hate to double-book...it's just not fair to everyone else. The date I'm trying to do this for is Friday, 12/30.

That's what we did last Dec. 23rd. We did have a package for the second showing though, for Mama Melrose's. We had to wait a while to make the reservation, as they try to sell out the first show before opening the second.......at least, that's what they did then.

Hang on... are you trying to plan this without knowing the hours or if there's a 2nd show at all?? You gotta know what the options are before you plan.

What if there is only 1 Fantasmic showing? Then do you go to lights at 6ish and get to Fantasmic only 20-25 minutes early? Or do Fantasmic (at 7:00pm) and rush to the lights before closing at 8pm? :confused3

If I could expand and piggy back on the OP's question, on the night we'll be there, 12/7, there is one viewing of Fantasmic scheduled for 7 PM. We'd like to catch the Osbourne Lights before Fantasmic (we're going to be in a private viewing area for Fantasmic, so no need to get there early), what time do the lights come on? Dusk? Or at a specific time?

I will be going on Dec 27. My plan: H&V, then go to Fantasmic at 10 p.m. (there are three shows), then view the Osborne Lights after. From what I have heard, there is much less demand for the last Fantasmic show and virtually no one left in the park afterward, so you can view the Lights easily. I have seen on other posts that they keep the Lights on after the park closes for those who want to view them.

... but is this true for the slower times? That's what we're concerned about, when there's only one showing of Fantasmic. Hopefully you're right! :)

We've always walked through the lights after Fantasmic, the latest showing or the only showing. Several CMs will 'lead' the crowd at a slow and careful pace to the lights. Sort of like they do in the mornings down to RnR and ToT.

great! so you recommend this rather than seeing them before hand?

Thanks!

This sounds perfect for us! Are there 3 shows every night the week between 12/25 and 12/31? This would take so much pressure off!
