We just left DIS last week. Tues we joined DVC. Now we are starting to think about how to plan our first 420 points!!!

Since my daughter is special needs (she can't control her body temp among many other things) we can't go to FL in the summer. So we will bank our first 160 points. So we will have our 2 yrs of points and the 100 developer points.

I am thinking thanksgiving week 2 studios and taking along family.

I can't seem to think much beyond that. Wanna help?

With 420 points at your disposal, you had better think beyond two studios!

Just remember there are stipulations on the developer points, they can't be used until the 7month window, that might be tricky at Thanksgiving. The beginning of Nov. is really nice.

Well my family (2 aunts and cousin) is going and my cousin has school. Thanksgiving week he will only have to miss 2 days of school to go with us (we homeschool so we are more flexible).

We also got an Aug use year. Thats why we will bank this yrs points. First, we don't have time to really plan and 2nd it will be too hot for my daughter before our year is up in August. Could we reserve in the 11 months and then change it to developer points within the 7 months? I want to use those first.

I guess the other option would be his fall break, but I think he has band state final practice. We could opt to invite friends, but I think my aunt would really be upset if we went without her *again*.

You can't just swap points. You actually cancel and rebook. And if there is a waiting list, the first person on the list gets the room you just cancelled.

You might be able to get OKW or SSR at 7 months. And the two bedroom at OKW is fantastic.

I *think* we may just use this yrs points we are banking for our November trip. Then we can go in Jan/Feb sometime (we are flexible) and use developer points and the remaining 30 points from this yr.

We can then bank next yrs points and plan a cruise which would be Oct09-Feb2010-ish timeframe (again we are flexible), but we need to get planning!

I was also informed today that the family members we had planned to take in November may not be interested.... which I totally DON'T understand! Apparently my cousins grades are *bad* and she is thinking he maybe can't miss school. She said she could leave him with his older sister, but she wouldn't want to leave them for a holiday. If it turns out in the next week she decides not to go we will either A) invite someone else for the same week, or B) we may invite a fellow homeschool family, which would leave us more flexible and we could hopefully go around halloween (our favorite time) and go on and use developers points then.

While I really loved the halloween time (it was so nice and empty!), I *really* want to see Christmas Decorations. We always get a small glimpse of them, but never really get to see them all at halloween. Its such a tease.

This seems like so much!! Here I just signed up for how many yrs of this? Does it get easier to just *know* what/when you want to plan?!

Developer points cannot be used until the 7 month window, also you have to use them within a year.(or loose them).
I just booked a 2 bed standard view at BWV on Sunday with mine.

There are tons of horror stories out there about DVC members inviting families and friends to go with them and backing out at the last minute leaving the member with loads of room and no one to fill it. And using up borrowed point and not getting anything out of it. Be careful inviting others.
