Want to go to Disney for free dining...would this trip be crazy???

I would go sooner--meaning before you deliver.

The caveat with an infant sub-6 weeks are....

You are still healing

Infant may have typical newborn issues that get more difficult when trying to establish routine and interupting it with a vacation.

My daughter developed jaundice after she was born--and it was a PITA for 2 weeks as she went for daily blood work. It wasn't until after then that we could finally begin to get settled and I couldn't imagine going on vacation--and we are only 90 minutes away.

Leaving a newborn. No way--no how. I do not recommend it in the least. It's a new baby and baby's change so much in the first 6 weeks alone. If I had to take a trip--the bambino is coming along for the ride.

edited as comment I posted would be interpreted harsher than intended. My apologies to the OP.

Thanks for the opinions. I knew I would get the whole NO WAY thing fro most..lol I am sure I would feel the same should we really go and plan it. I know I could have never left my son like that at 3 weeks old. I spent 4 hours away from him for the first time when he was 2 months old and missed him like crazy. I guess I have just not been factoring that in since he is not here yet and I just want to go so dang badly..lol

Nope I am not going to be breastfeeding b/c of complications from my first. So that would not have been an issue.

My hubby will be in school next year b/c the place he works is closing down the end of the year so no time next year will work at all b/c he will not be able to miss those days from school so that is another reason we have wanted to go so badly this year b/c it will be a couple years before we get the chance again.

I know it is a crazy idea to begin with. I would love to take the baby with us but I would not take a little one out in that heat at that young of an age anyways. That is just too much. My mom and dad would LOVE to keep him. They are more than willing. I know he would be in as good of hands as he would be with me so that again would not be an issue

My biggest issue would just be being away from him that long and like another poster said..that whole gross factor..lol I too bled for a good 4-5 weeks after my son was born. That was so hard and I know walking theme parks would have been the last thing on my mind then. That was something I brought up to my hubby. Also he does not realize it now but I know when the baby comes he would never be able to leave him like that..lol He hated being away from Ethan for 5 mins..lol He will not realize what a bond he will have until the baby gets here.. ;)

So I guess I am just being ran over right now with the huge want to go again. I know we can not afford the trip without the free dining and having to budget really cheap food the whole time would really not be as fun anyways. My hubby is a real DEAL guy. If there is not a good deal being offered he won't go. You gotta SAVE some money to spend it. :lmao:

Anyways, thanks for the opinions. I just wanted to see what some other thoughts on it were..and no there is no need in thinking I am a bad mom for even considering in the first place.. ;)

I, for one, do not think you are a bad mom for trying to figure out a way to do it. Hope you didn't get that impression. Hey, it's Disney and it's free dining....I'd think about it too!!

Yes, it's a crazy idea to leave your newborn to go to Disney OR take him/her with you. They're too young. Disney will always be there. Your newborn is just that once. Enjoy your time with the little one.
