Well, we had a plan of going to NYC this Sunday (driving from Toronto). I was so looking forward to the World of Disney Store and the kid's were so thrilled. We are now worried because of the flooding. Heard parts of I90 are closed. Do you think we are crazy to still drive to NYC if the roads are opened on Sunday?
Anyone else going this weekend?

I am just outside the city, and there should be no problem coming down to NYC this weekend. The flooding shouldn't effect your drive at all.

Safe Travels and have fun at WoD!

I'm leaving the city this weekend, heading to my sisters in NJ. LOL

If you do take the trip make sure to stop by the South Street Seaport. They're having a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Jamestown, VA. It's pretty neat, they've got this old ship and lots of tents with things to see and do.

I'm driving up to NYC from Maryland on Saturday to go to the Metropolitan Museum for the Hatshepsut show. So far as I know everything is ok on the roads now.

Actually, a huge portion of I-90 was closed as of this morning and, although now reopened, has possiblility of being closed again if we get more rain. If you plan to use the Thruway, double check on any possible alerts before you leave: http://www.nysthruway.gov/index.shtml

Have you also checked into using Rt. 86 (17)?

We always go that way to New York from Buffalo. It's REALLY easy driving - provided it isn't flooded of course. We make it there in no time. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone!
I really hope we can go to NYC. The children love Madagascar and are very excited.
Thanks for that amazing link to the highway info. I will look into it for sure. I hope NYC does not get too much rain this weekend.
We have been to the US hundreds of times but never for 4th of July. Thought it would be a really fun party!

That route cuts through some of the worst hit areas around Binghamton. My husband works for one of the Syracuse TV stations -- the video he shot was unbelievable.

While the Thruway (I-90) is reopened for now, state and local officials are still asking for no unecessary travel south and east of Syracuse. So anyone heading across Central and Eastern NY may want to keep checking the updates (www.9wsyr.com)

We are driving to NYC from KY tomorrow-looking forward to it. Will hit the WoD store on Saturday. All routes look clear from here at this point.

Everything's fine in the City and the main roads getting there. DFam and I will also be there. B and the B Sunday, WofD Saturday.
