I have never used my points for a cruise, so I'm in the dark here.
I have a few question.
1) Do I pay the $95 non-refundable transaction fee at booking.
2) Do I have to pre pay any dues if banking points.
3) Is transportation included with cost of trip or travel insurance.
4) Is a Members cruise less points or more.
5) Will I need a credit card for charge things or can I pre pay.
6) Are there any other fees that are due atvthe time of booking, besides the $95 non-refundable transaction fee.

I know I'm forgetting something, but I can't think of it right now :), please help. TIA

Yes. You will also pay another $95 transaction fee if you make a change to the reservation.
2) Do I have to pre pay any dues if banking points.
No.
3) Is transportation included with cost of trip or travel insurance.
No. Gratuities are not included either (except for the DVC Member Cruise).
4) Is a Members cruise less points or more.
More.
5) Will I need a credit card for charge things or can I pre pay.
Just like Disney Resorts, you can place a CC on file for on-board purchases. You apply cash instead of a CC. You can also have the balance from Gift Cards added to your on-board account.
6) Are there any other fees that are due at the time of booking, besides the $95 non-refundable transaction fee.
No.

At the time of booking. As erionm said, you will also pay another $95 fee if you make any major changes the booking. These include changing the sail date and/or changing the category of your stateroom so make sure you know exactly what cruise you want to take and what category room you want before you book.

2) Do I have to pre pay any dues if banking points.

No.

3) Is transportation included with cost of trip or travel insurance.

Neither is included.

4) Is a Members cruise less points or more.

More points, but the cost includes gratuities. The suggested amount for these is $12 per person per day and they cover your dining room servers and stateroom host/hostess. On non-Member cruises the suggested amount will be charged to your on-board account on the day you board (if they have not been pre-paid). You can go to Guest Services to adjust the amounts, or you can simply put extra cash in the envelope if you feel the service warranted it.

5) Will I need a credit card for charge things or can I pre pay.

You do not need a credit card, however the ship is run with a cashless system. This means that you will use your Key to the World card for all purchases. If you opt not to attach a credit card to your account you have a few options for payment...
  • On Board Credit - You can add on board credit to your account before you sail via a credit card or Disney gift cards.
  • Cash Account - You can also set your account up as a Cash Account. This means that you will have a credit line of a few hundred dollars. Once your account gets to that amount you will be expected to pay it off. You will then be able to charge again, until you get to the limit. You can pay off your balance with a credit card, debit card, Disney gift cards, Disney Visa reward dollars, traveler's checks or cash.

6) Are there any other fees that are due at the time of booking, besides the $95 non-refundable transaction fee.

Some cruisers have reported that gratuities were added at the time they made the reservation. When you book, ask if the total price includes gratuities. If it does, you will be all set once you sail. If not you will need to either add them at that time or pay them during your cruise.

Hope that helps. If you think of any other questions ask away or feel free to PM me. I have sailed on all four ships and on many of the itineraries (3-, 4-, 7-day...Transatlantic...Alaska...etc.).

Thank you both :thumbsup2
And are there Gov. Fees and Port charges to pre pay?

Do you pay insurance for each year of points used(banked or in your uses year)??

Do you think there will be more member cruises in 2015 or 2016?

When using points, all taxes and port fees are already included in the point amounts.
Do you think there will be more member cruises in 2015 or 2016?
Yes. There are two cruises that are currently rumored to be chartered by DVC: 8/24/15 on the Dream (4-Night Bahamas) and 5/25/2015 on the Wonder (7-Night Alaska).

To add, IF you're planning to do part points and part cash, you must pay at least one adult on points and each entire person the same way (points or cash). If you do any cash it's based on a mildly discounted contract rate and is normally more than the early booking rate all else being equal. Any cash amount is due at booking unlike a cruise booked otherwise. IF you make ANY changes, you'll pay the $95 fee each time. IF you cancel, any points are severely restricted. I'd suggest you look at the specifics of your cruise using points or points plus cash as you are thinking, then compare to cash only. Often the return is between $6 & $7.50 per point when you adjust for the additional fees but there are exceptions both up and down.

You can change staterooms within a category without paying another $95 fee, but if you change categories you will be charged.
I've seen people charged for changing a name in the same category with no other changes.

A name change is considered a major change to the reservation. A room change within a category is not.
