We bought SSR without taking the tour (or even going to WDW) and now I'm seeing SSR pins on eBay and hearing about them on this board. Is there any way to get them other than to go to eBay? What are the odds that my guide would send me one? Anyone know?

Thanks!
Dawn

We went on the tour and didn't here about the SSR pins until we came home and viewed it on EBAY. I called our DVC guide and she said she would send one to us. That was a couple of days ago. Have not received it yet.

We took a tour and didn't get a pin. We bought and didn't get a pin. I bought a pin off of ebay.

I got a SSR pin off ebay, too. They are on there often.
Last DVC pin I need is Vero Beach. I'm looking for one without a date on the front of it. Seems alot of them have 2000 on it. They are not easy to find.

After not receiving a pin when taking the tour and buying, we called our guide as well and was told they were used as an incentive to those who take the tour but don't buy so she wouldn't send us one.

I was a bit disappointed with this answer. How about also using them as a reward or thank you for buying?

You're kidding poohj80 ? That is lame.

When we bought BCV by phone I called backed and asked our guide if we could get a pin. I was told he'd try, but he thought they didn't have any. I never heard back.

Next trip we took I went to Member Day and behold there was a BASKET full of BCV pins for the taking.

Course, I had already bought eon on ebay at that point.

I think they are cheap enough they could give you one for buying , not vice versa....

I wish I was kidding. Needless to say, I have been less than impressed with our guide.

After purchasing SSR in October, I read on Disboards about the SSR pin. I received a call from Quality Control about the contract and he asked if I had any questions. I asked about receiving a pin and he forwarded one to me in about three days! I'd ask again because I think they are give pretty freely. It is a shame they don't just send one with the Litho and Backpack!

At Christmas I went to the sales area and asked to see the SSR layout- told them I was already a member (OKW, BCV & SSR). After taking us back to the rooms the guide then gave us SSR pins. Guess it just depends on who shows you around. They did confirm my membership in the computer before taking us back to see the rooms. Don't know when your first trip home is but take a few minutes to stop in and ask to see the models. There was no sales pitch just a here they are , are you having a good trip , where are you staying etc. conversation while we looked around.

There's a reson they like for you to come take the tour -- I recall hearing from a guide once that the peak time to convince a current member to buy more is during, right after a trip "home".

I was in Orlando on business but stopped by BWV and BCV early one morning before my conference. I wanted to compare the two resorts (without my kids clamouring around me!) and decide which one we should stay in for our summer trip this year. Well, they took my name, then told me my guide wasn't in, but did I want some pastries and coffee, and would I like to look at the models again? I began chatting with a gentleman who was waiting also. When they came to take me through the models, I told him to go ahead and join me, so he wouldn't have to wait. So I checked them out, etc, then left to go to BCV. Lady there (who I should add, as has been discussed on a prior thread, wasn't especially cordial) did in fact give me a BCV pin, just for stopping by. Well, back at BWV, I guess my guide showed up later and was told I had stopped by, and took a tour along with this man. He called my home, thinking now's the time to pounce on extra points! But I was not there (I had to go to another city on business). So he chipperly says to DH, "Well, I just wanted to see how things were going, see how you're enjoying your DVC, if there's anything you need or any questions I can answer, since you guys were down here visiting WDW!" DH says no, we weren't. And he had no idea that I had been there. DH says the guide then got all flustered, asked DH "Are you sure? But they said that you and your wife... or that your wife and another man...but... Ummm, Ohhhhhh. Well.... Ok, well , if everything's alright, fine then, uh, enjoy your DVC, and, uh, good night!!"

Our guide now thinks he caught me cheatin'... he's probably waiting to see our contract up for resale in a divorce settlement! He's never called us since, even after we added on!

We bought before seeing the models in person. So for our past December trip, we made an appointment with our guide to meet her at the models and she'd walk us around. I was excited to finally meet her after we spent so much time on the phone. We got there at our scheduled time and she wasn't there. They called for her and she said she'd be there in about an hour. It was our first day and we weren't waiting -- besides, I only wanted to see the models. I was with my Mom, btw who was really excited for me and my husband. She was perplexed as to why our guide wouldn't show up for our appointment. SO (this gets better), they gave us someone else to just show us around and let me tell you she really acted like I was BOTHERING her and taking up all of her precious time. She kept emitting body language stating that I was not important and whenever I would ask questions, it would see very labored in answering me. Well I was very embarassed in front of my Mom. Here I am spending almost $20,000 on DVC and just wanted a glimpse of what I was buying. I am still apalled that I was treated so poorly.

I got my SSR pins in today that I had called my DVC guide for. Thought I would pass that info on. She was more than happy to send them to me.

When we were at BWV in January we went to the Members Update and then the tour at the Sales Office showing the SSR theme. The tour person was handing out SSR pins like candy.

I suppose that makes up for the fact that our guide never got us Lithos or DVC License Plates, even though we bought BWV and VB through Disney.
