Wanna hear from the wimps regarding Expedition Everest

I think I read on these boards somewhere to keep your head pulled just a bit forward during the backwards part to avoid nausea/dizziness. I did that and had no problems. DH, a huge rollercoaster freak, was nauseous after each time he rode EE. :confused3
You just gotta do it. Just once. You don't have to go again if you don't like it! :sunny:
(That's been my mantra for every WDW ride except for RnR and M:S--haven't worked up the chutzpah for them yet.)

That is way too cool. You sound fearsome, able to live life on the edge. Just hold the coasters and your fine. I on the other hand, am the true definition of wimp. Look up wimp in the dictionary, and I guarantee you, you will find a picture of me. If there's no picture, your dictionary must be abridged :teeth:

Sometimes I'm on the edge...other times I look at the edge and think ....um...no maybe not...some maybe I'm a semi-wimp...but I'm always willing to back up anyone willing to try anything just once...and if you're not willing to try it once...I'm willing to stand there with you and admire the task at hand..baby steps!!!

I am the personification of ride wimp.... and I LOVED EE!!! I rode it 4 times on my last trip. Prior to that I had never even rode Space Mtn, I was too scared (I did ride it that time and it was fun). I have still never rode Splash Mtn, TOT or RNR. The backwards part on EE is very cool, it makes you feel almost as if you are going upside down because you go down the hill a short way backwards and then start going up and around at the same time (Like a reverse corkscrew) and then you stop briefly and go forward in another direction. The one real forward drop is over really fast and not too bad because it curves before you get to the bottom so it's not as big a drop as it looks.

I have to agree with several others, it's riding it more than once that will throw you. I have a very delicate sense of balance (I get motion sick on an escalator, no kidding) so I have to take extra care to go on rides; that said, I have to ride EE at least once each trip to AK. What works for me is making sure I'm not over heated, overly full, or already unsettled. The turns and swoops and going backwards parts are all part of the fun, truly, and as long as you're mentally prepared you should be fine. I think being closer to the front is also better for the rattling to be lessened; the bit going back isn't too long (maybe half a minute?).

I won't do ToT. Just can't handle the concept of a dropping elevator. Can't do the teacups either, can't spin. I will ride everything else!

And my DS who is 7 can ride EE without any trouble. He loved it. And he rides SM like a banshee...he'd stay on it the entire time if he could.

I love SM too!! At last year's MVMCP, I rode SM 4 or 5 times back to back. Thank to the party, there was no line and I just kept getting on it. I could have kept going but the people I was with had enough at that point.

OK!! I have this wonderful DS (7) that up until last DEC would not ride SPLASH MOUNTAIN!!!! HE was scared. Was sure that he would HATE it!!! Went Labor Day weekend with my cousin and her family (they were with Make A Wish). WE--yea I said WE--BEGGED him to let his dad ride it first!! He insisted that he ride RIGHT THEN!!!! When they got off I expected him to be upset---NOPE!!!! He wanted to ride again. (someone had to sit with DD 3 is why we didn't all ride it to start off with!!!). He rides again--tells me when we start to get on that if I need to hold his hand I can--That's it not scary!!!!

rode EE last week - threw up into my mouth - ugh - never again....

it was that backwards part that did me in.

I admit it-I'm a wimp whose stomach "flip-flopped" when the ride went whizzing backwards then around and round. Oh, my gosh! I really wanted to love EE. I'd seen the shows on TV about it, and I so admire Joe Rhodes and all the attention that was put into the ride. And when I got to EE, I grabbed a FP and then got in the stand-by line. Great, I thought, I'll get two rides on this baby! Well, we went up and it wasn't too bad. But then all of a sudden we whipped backwards, then forwards, very fast, whipping around curves. When I staggered off the ride, I handed my FP to someone who wanted to go on the ride himself, his wife was wimping out (smart DW). Then I didn't ride another ride for about 2 1/2 hours. The next day, DH went on it (he'd been golfing the day I attempted it) and after listening to my stern warnings, he got off and told me I was definitely a wimp.
