Wanna hear from the wimps regarding Expedition Everest

I am not a thrill seeker and I do not like coasters. I did it twice and did not like the way I felt when I got off either time. Having said that, I will do t again when I visit the World again, but only one and only to say I did it.

I felt the pressure in my chest on the backwards drop, which, frankly, scared the poop out of me.

I love Thunder Mountain and can tolerate SM but RnR-I thought I would have a heart attack. There's a picture of me absolutely hysterical with fright -EE was not a whole lot better. I screamed the whole time. DH said that EE terrified him because he thought I was dying! My eyes were closed most of the ride. One of the times I opened them was on the track going up the mountain--not a brilliant place for that as it's a l-o-n-g way down.
I didn't experience any nausea. Actually,I guess it's a good thing that I rode those 2 coasters because now I know that there's no way that I have a heart condition. :thumbsup2

EE is so fun! DH went on it four times in a row just becuase the effect during the ride are amazing. I rode it twice myself and I am a bit leery of really scary rides, but I loved it. Go and enjoy.

I saw something yesterday on the Discovery Science channel about Expedition Everest. ...and now I'm even more nervous to ride it! There are so many technical things that need to work correctly on it...that now I'm nervous that things will go wrong on the ride! Did you know that part of the track actually has to switch over, and actually roll or turn so that the coaster can roll backwards in a different direction than where it came. And the parts of the structure that hold up the tracks, CANNOT touch the structure of the mountain...and in some cases these structures are only centimeters from each other!

Fellow wimp present... Refuse to do TOT, and I HATE splash (although I get suckered into it every time). I do like SM and BTMR, and I have ridden RnR a few times but I get nervous every time lolol.

With Everest--it's like BTMR, until the backwards helix thing. I thought that was very intense. I felt like my body was being shoved forward and to the left so I was hunched the whole time we went up the helix. It wasn't a "bad" feeling, but I thought it was pretty intense. I thought the ride was fun, but I did feel "off" for about 30 minutes afterwards, which I'm pretty sure was a direct result of the backwards helix.

How do I spell WIMP.......K A R E N :rotfl2:
Check the tag. I am such a wimp that I scare myself. I cried so hard on Space Mountain, my ds got soaking wet in the seat behind me. It was messy.

I got on line for EE and chickened out. There is no way. I get scared on Primeval Whirl and Barnstormer. Don't get me started on the Teacups. :sad2:

I'm not a whimp, I will ride any ride (except TOT which makes me sick, but might ride it if it were the last ride of the day). Anyways, we rode EE once, loved it and decided to ride again right after. It was a bad idea. I got so nausious(sp) and dizzy and what not. I have limited it down to a couple of things. You go backwards in the dark; well regardless if its backwards or not, you ride in the dark. I think this is hard on some people because they get disoriented from not being able to see where they are going. Also the ride does fairly steep helixes (sp) in which you go up and turn at the same time. That is what got me. You experience a lot more Gs during those parts of the ride. If we had done the ride only once, I would have been fine, but taking those Gs twice just wasn't good for me.

I wouldn't call it mild, but it's not as intense as RnR. It does make you a little dizzy afterwards, but only for a minute or so. At least that's how my body responded. It's fantastically themed and real fun attraction.

I screamed like crazy on EE, but as soon as it finished I said "we have to do this again".

The ride is much less shaky than BTM. I found going up in the beginning where you see everything in the park from a vantage point to be very scary, and the big drop caused me to scream terribly. However, I didn't mind going backwards at all (ecept for the fact that I know there will be a drop shortly after).

However, I am really afraid of drops, so I found TOT much scarier, and didn't mind RNR. Everyone has their thing which gets them so you will get many reactions, even from wimps.

What helpped me, was knowing exactly what was going to happen each step of the way. Where, some people prefer being surprised.

Now I just need to work up to courage to go it again in two weeks.

Here's my wimp profile, I love BTMR, like RNR, hate TOT and Space Mountain! So I guess you can say I'm inbetween. Mostly the drops bother me, hence why TOT and Splash are not two of my favs, while BTMR is since the drops are mild. Well EE's drops are curved as such that I didn't even notice them, no "drop" sensation in my stomach either. However I was freaked out by the backwards part. I was thinking Mummy from Universal where you drop backwards for a second, not a lengthy amount of time going very swiftly backwards and feeling like we were going uphill. Not cool...lol. I screamed while my little brother laughed. Go figure!
Considering the rest of the ride was really cool and not bad, I think I'll do it again. Just wish I would have known how intense the backwards part felt.

I think a lot of people just "relax" during the parked segment at the top, and don't brace for the backwards part that follows. If you just flop around in the seat, it will tend to push your stomach against the lap bar. That's just physics at work. And if you're not a flat-tummied gymnast (I'm not either!), you probably have more stomach to be pushed in and it's not very comfortable. I just braced myself against the car and that was that.

I think it's always interesting to read how many people on this board complain of wooziness, stomach problems, nausea, etc after riding EE (not doubting you guys... just stating the fact). Disney certainly does draw a different crowd than thrill-ride city Six Flags! I'm glad we have both. :bounce:

funny you should mention that...I will hang from trees...climb mountains...live outside if I have to... throw me out of a window...live in a sailboat...sure...its the things I cant control that scare me...for example...rolller coasters-I have no control over...not comfortable...I'll do it but coasters are just not my strong point...but for that matter neither are snakes and spiders...cold weather/rain....I'm your girl...fast cars-as long as I'm driving...I guess its a trust thing...I dont know...

my 5 yr. old brother went on it twice in a row and was fine..Even in the pix they take he actually looked kinda bored. I loved it. Went on it 3 times in a row . There is a backwards roller coaster at Kings Island in Cincy that is way wilder than EE. It was fun..If you like Thunder Mtn. This is about the same just a lot shorter of a ride.

also, i find thunder mtn. to be more, intense with all the jerking! :confused3 :goodvibes :thumbsup2

The flipping track thing is the best part of the ride! It's amazing!
Rest assured that the engineers have covered everything. I felt very safe on EE (as with all Disney rides). They check, recheck, double recheck, monitor, monitor, monitor.
Enjoy! :sunny:

Wimp speaking here. I've done great on Space Mountain.
EE made me dizzy and light-headed for about an hour
afterwards.

I admit that I generally like these rides, but I just got back from an adults-only trip with a friend who really doesn't like coasters or drops or anything. For some reason, she decided to give some of the rides a try. EE got a "I dont' need to do that again right away, but I'm glad I did it. That was cool." review. My take is that it's worth trying most rides once - if you/I/anyone doesn't like a ride, nothing makes us go back on. :)

As for all of the technical stuff, if we stopped to think about all of the moving parts in our cars that have to mesh correctly, that'd be reason for pause, too. The engineers at Disney know their job a darn sight better than I do. As I told my daughter when she started trying bigger rides, Mickey and his helpers really don't want you to get hurt. My bet is that they'd much rather make a safe ride so that you can come back and give them more of your money. :-)

That is way too cool. You sound fearsome, able to live life on the edge. Just hold the coasters and your fine. I on the other hand, am the true definition of wimp. Look up wimp in the dictionary, and I guarantee you, you will find a picture of me. If there's no picture, your dictionary must be abridged :teeth:
