Hi all,

We're heading to disney in 3 weeks time, and usually we're pretty limited to where we eat, especially as I'm quite fussy with food.

We usually do Mickey/Rainforest only in repeating order, we did try Inventions last time but were severely disappointed for what we paid.

My question: To me, the only thing I may even come close to liking is the "Chicken breast with mashed potatoes with olive oil and pine nuts, preserved lemon sauce"

I was wondering if anyone had had this, and if they have a picture or two of it? I was also curious about the nuts, as I don't like nuts... and what the lemon sauce was like?

I'd just like to get out of the habit of only doing a few places each evening, I did look at Annetes, but unfortunately my company isn't keen on burgers/hot dogs for evening meals!...

I would have gone for the burger here, but I will not eat Fois Gras:

Walt's Gourmet Burger
Pan-fried foie gras, burger, roasted peppers, red onions, salad, waffle potatoes and grain bread

As the parks are open till 11, we were planning on having food then heading back into the park, but we're thinking this would be a possible choice and we keep hearing how good walts is, so wouldn't mind being able to try it!

You can request the burger without the foie gras, many people do :)

We're doing inventions for the first time this trip and i've a feeling i'm going to think it's not worth the money too. I've been put off booking in the past because of this...but after reading others positive reviews thought i'd give it a try....

I'd be interested in knowing what your thoughts on it were. I have 3 really fussy eaters and i'm thinking they'll probably hardly touch a thing

Deifinitely give it a go if you can, it's our favourite place to eat at dlp. As carrie said you can ask for the burger without anything, also remember french standards of 'medium/welldone' cooking, dd nearly cried once at the state of her burger ;)

I would dare say you'll probably feel you won't get value for money if you're looking at just the food, unless you can eat your body weight in cakes like me :rolleyes1 My dd ate well last time but she was eating from the kids area so spaghetti and meatballs, pizza etc so if you're looking at value for money based on food that's not it.

It's a popular choice here, we enjoyed our second time there but think I would only do the Sunday Brunch again, the food imho isn't that good but as I say each time I discuss this I am not a buffet kind of person.

We loved the setting, and had a fantastic castle view. However, we were not impressed with the "Main" choices, half of it was fish.. (which is great if you like fish, of course) but we don't, we actually also felt like we got much more character interaction and more of an atmosphere at Cafe mickey.

All-together it was about 120 euros for the three of us, and we felt it was only worth 80 max.

Honestly, in my opinion if you have fussy eaters I would save your money and go elsewhere, we have said we'll go into the Disney Hotel bar for a drink as a treat as it's fantastic next time (well, minus the people walking around in dressing gowns :rotfl2:).

Thanks for the heads up on Walts guys, I'll hopefully be able to get us in for 3 weeks time (we're booking our meals this evening).

Do you need to ask for the burger to be done a certain way too? :scared1: I knew you had to ask for your steak but didn't know about your burger too! This the same for Annettes etc?

Thinking about it I don't think i've checked the couple of burgers we have had at disney before.......i've probably just stuck it in my mouth without looking! :scared1:

Nah.... i'm pretty sure I would have noticed if it had looked pink :rotfl:

I usually do say how I'd like burgers done in restaurants as otherwise I find you get some pink which I can't stand.

:lmao: I've only come across this in Walt's but can't remember if anyone of us has had a burger anywhere else, I'm a veggie so no problem for me but it's something to remember even with the kids meals :goodvibes

Any decent restaurant will always ask you how you want your meat cooked even if it's a burger.

Annette's burgers are supposed to be à point without you asking but that's often too "raw" for a lot of people :)

Eeek. Thanks for the burger warning.

I thought minced beef should never be left rare?

Guess you don't eat Steak Tartare ;)

As long as it's kept in hygenic conditions etc there is no more risk than eating cooked meat.

All burgers are normally not served well done or even medium well in restaurants. We even found that last time in London when we tried GBK that they served them very pink

They eat lamb pink here too

I've no doubt i personally will get my money's worth - I eat most things and I wont be leaving until I feel sick ... seriously :lmao: My husband & kids are the fussy ones and will only pick at things...so I can't see us getting our money's worth with them four. My kids are not that into desserts either...so it's not like they will be getting stuck into the cakes and stuff like that. If we still go ahead with it I think i'll need to eat for the four of them!

I like fish but my hubby and kids are not into fish at all....

I have Inventions booked for the Thursday but after reading this I think i'm going to pop into Inventions a few days before and just ask if I can see what the buffet looks like first. That way I can see whats what and if I don't think it's a good idea i'll change our reservation for somewhere else instead. I'm not really bothered about the characters because we'll be seeing them at Cafe Mickey on the Tuesday anyway...so it is really more about the food for us here.

Thanks both for your input...much appreciated :thumbsup2

We used to sit outside Cafe Fantasia every night with a drink when we stayed at the DLH and we were always amazed at how many people we seen walking past in their gowns :rotfl: I couldn't ever imagine waltzing around the DHL in a gown myself! Hmmm I do not think so! :rotfl2:

I've never been asked about my burger ever. I wouldn't have thought of mentioning it either! I'm glad I now know this before going though...think i'd freak if i was presented with a pink burger :scared1:

Eeek. Thanks for the burger warning.

Yeah I thought that too. I personally wouldn't risk eating a pink burger...
I'd be paranoid I was going to puke or something after! :rotfl:

Depends on the quality of the meat - supermarket value mince, no way I'd serve that pink. Decent steak minced by a proper butcher? Personally I wouldn't hesitate to serve that rare but then I like my steak on the bloody side!

That's how my OH eats his meat

Burgers are cooked like this

and if he is eating a steak - it's a back and forth in the pan and that's it

:rotfl:

I'm not a great meat eater, raw fish no pb, raw meat no :goodvibes

No way. Never. You'd never catch me eating any of them. I think I eat quite a bit...but when it comes to eating rare food - puke! Seriously not a chance! :scared1: :rotfl:

All booked! :)

We've gone for:

Saturday - Rainforest
Sunday - Cafe Mickey (7.30pm, possibly back in the park after).
Monday - Rainforest (Open slots, can't book these).
Tuesday - Walts @ 8.15pm (We plan on not doing the park again after this and enjoying it)..
Wednesday - Cafe Mickey (7.30pm again, same as Sunday as it's our last night).

It'll be nice to have a change in there ! :lmao:
