Walt's Grave

I LOVE cemeteries. I don't think they are creepy at all... they are a link to our past! Full of history! I particularly like old cemeteries... however, Forest Lawn intriuges me. I think I have heard of it, but had not really given it much thought. The next time we are in the area... I would love to visit! Thanks for posting this:)

Right nearby is a little statue of The Little Mermaid, one of Walt's fav stories.

Do they call that a mermaid? It looks like she's got legs.

Call me "Dumbo". Who is Robert Brown?:confused3 :tink:

The first man Walt's daughter, Sharon, married.

My friends and I used to go to Forest Lawn back when I was in High School. We used to put flowers on graves that looked long forgotten. Call us weird, but it just seemed like a nice thing to do.

Not weird at all! Whenever I go to visit my dad, I stop at other graves, and fix their flowers, or get leaves off their headstones, etc. It feels like the right thing to do....:goodvibes

I think it is great Walt gets constant visitors at his resting spot from all over the world. Walt has given us all so much. Can you imagine a parallel universe where there was no Mickey Mouse, no Disneyland? It would be hell!

OHHHHH WHO LIVES IN A PINEAPPLE UNDER THE SEA...........?

SPONGEBOB SQUARE PANTS :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

it would not be pretty

I would love to Visit "Uncle" Walts final resting place...Im sure he would love to know that his dream has been taken farther than he thought of taking it (If thats possiable) and that it just keeps going. I of course I always stop by the firehouse to pay tribute to his spirit...

I wrote about visiting the cemetaries to see stars in my Hollywood Trip guide. Some think its weird and creepy some think its interesting. I enjoy cemetaries, because there is such an interesting history to them and they are beautiful.

If you want to see what Stars besides Walts you can find at Forest Lawn check out this link

Also while at Forest Lawn check out the museum of "Pop Art" on display. Including Disney theme Artwork

My husband and I went to forest lawn about 8 years ago. We went originally to see Lucille ball's grave. We found it eventually with help from a caretaker. Were glad we did since they moved her ashes to newyork a couple of years ago.

We didn't even know walt disney was burried there, but there are tons of stars there. Marilyn Monroe, Liberache, Betty Davis, Hugh Hefner has purchased the plot (well actually wall space) next to marilyn monroe in case no one knew this. There were more too.

The place is huge, would reccomend doing research on who's grave you want to see before going, we didn't and it was quite a hike.

Another great cemetary in the LA area is the Hollywood Forever Cemetary. We did that one the same day. Tyrone Power is burried there along with TONS of old stars. The cemetary is really old, so the grave sites and tombstones are really interesting.

Lucy and Walt are burried in different parks. (well were until Lucy was moved to NY) Walt is in Glendale, (see link I sent in above post) Lucy was at a different Forest Lawn property until they moved her.

Leofoenget- Now try the link I posted its much more helpful now that it is complete hahahah!!

It tells you all the stars buried there 1005 (from Famous to WHO???), a bit about the person and a "address" (the street and plot number), you also can see a map of the property. This way you can figure out who you would like to visit before you head over.

There are two Forest Lawns, Glendale and Los Angeles, both have lots of stars here is the link for who is buried at the Los Angeles cemetary

I also love Hollywood Forever it backs up to Paramont Studios (literally). They also do an interesting fund raiser to keep up the cemetary and the older plots. During the summer they show movies on Saturdays and Sundays. I try to go a couple times a year. While it sounds dark and creepy its actually a beautiful night out, seeing fun old movies.

Thanks for posting the picture of Walt's gravesite. I don't think I'll ever visit and I appreciated seeing it and seeing the little trinkets left by fans.

Walt died just days before I was born. I can only imagine how sad the world was.

I agree with Brenda, I don't think I will ever get to the cemetery, but it was very nice to see the pictures.

I think Walt would be so happy to know that we all appreciate and love  him so much to visit his gravesite.
