Hi. We like Walterboro as the stopover point of our trip, but we had a HORRIFIC experience at the Quality Inn & Suites. I'm researching and seemed to have narrowed down to the Holiday Inn Express or Microtel Inn & Suites for the February trip. We want a sitting area or suite style room, so that eliminates a few of the others in the area.

Does anyone have an opinion to share on either one of them?? I've read lots of reviews online and they both seem to be pretty good. Holiday Inn apparently has a good breakfast, which our family does use, so that could move it in HI's favor. But Microtel has a really good price.

Any help??

My family stayed at the Microtel Inn & Suites in Walterboro on 10/27 in a non-smoking room with 2 queen beds. It was clean, plenty of hot water, beds were comfortable, air conditioner worked great. They had a continental breakfast in the morning with bagels, muffins, milk, dry cereal, a waffle maker, etc. I booked the room on the Howard Johnson's website and got it for $52.39 including tax. I would stay there again and probably will on our trip next year. I did stay at the Holiday Inn on the Santee SC exit in April. That room was little over $100.00 (but it was during Easter week) and it was very nice. I hope this helps!

We almost stayed at the Microtel in Walterboro. We were running ahead of schedule and would have arrived around 11 AM. We cancelled and rebooked at a Microtel in Brunswick GA. Both times we have stayed at a Microtel, once in GA and once in NY we have had no problems. The rooms are clean no complaints.

Microtel. I've never been to South Carolina, but I have stayed at both a Microtel and Holiday Inns. Microtel. But only if you can't get a Marriott-family hotel at a comparable price :)
