Walt What Happened!!!!!

Unfortunately that is pretty much the reason Roy DID leave the company...you can only do so much and he was slowly being pushed out anyway since he DID try to get things changed and taken care of.

Agreed and the sad thing now is with all the publicity of Roy's campaign against Eisner I think some of the CM's are just to the point they don't care anymore.

The problem is I don't know who to complain to anymore. I don't think the board cares since they will support a CEO that so many stockholders were against. It is a sad situation.

I agree. If the CEO of the company is so apathetic, his managers and executives are going to react in the same manner. I guess all we can do is give Roy and Stanley our full support and keep prodding the boad as stockholders and guests to do something about the state of management and the trickle down effect that is affecting guests.

I still don't understand what Eisner has over that board that makes them so unwilling to get rid of him. A temporary shake-up would be less detrimental to stock price than this continued and well-documented acrimony within the "happiest company on earth."

This is really upsetting to read. We haven't been to Disney for five years and are heading back in August. The wonderful employees were always a high point of our previous trips. We would always comment when we ended our past trips at Universal Studios "the rides are great here, but these sure aren't Disney employees!" I hate to think we'll be spending all that money to be treated poorly. Hasn't anyone who's visited recently had a different, more pleasant experience???

I'm only referring to the new corporate culture. After we stopped staying at the GF (moved to the BWI in December), we've only encountered wonderful CMs. We had a marvelous trip in December, as well as in July of 2003, as long as we were away from the GF. We did have a few nice CMs at the GF, but on the whole...

The CMs we came in contact were the same as ever. I was only responding to a few of the other posters who have had poor experiences. Don't worry - you'll still have a magical trip!

:D

I am truly sorry your trip wasn't magical.

eljojo, the wonderful CMs we have encountered have far out weighed the bad. There were probably 3 CMs in our past 11 trips we have encountered that were not very pleasant. The rest were amazing! I just found out about the WWWD pins. If we purchased one for every CM that deserved it, meaning service above and beyond and/or making our trip magical, we could never afford to go to WDW again. I am sure your August trip will be wonderful!!!

First of all we all know how we can be. A bad start can ruin the whole trip. We all do this unintentionally, but we still do it. If there is a bad start, we need to try to let it go. (I know, I'm so bad at this) I heard some advice one time that really made me think. Do we think getting all mad is going to ruin their day? Usually not. (For example: Someone cuts you off in traffic. It makes you mad and puts you in a bad mood all day. That person probably didn't think twice about it, while we're still huffing and puffing about it hours later)

That being said, there is no excuse for everyone you encounter to be so unfriendly. (Maybe it was the weather-you know, when it's cloudy outside, we tend to get crabby) There are a lot of people at Disney that are wonderful people, but there are also a lot of people who are just not nice. I think sometimes a problem is that they bring in people that don't speak clear English, or can't understand you completely.
BUT we have to remember, AS NICE AS WE ALL ARE to the CM's, there are those mean, mean people, just being mean all the time that can ruin the CM's day. We need to try to be sympathetic, but the CM's need to do their job and try to bring the "magic" to everyone.

And that $7 dollar thing is rediculous. Almost every single person in the world feels they are not making enough money. If we all had a poor attitude about it, then EVERYWHERE you went EVERYONE would be jerks. They choose to work there. If they can't have a positive attutude about it, then they shouldn't be working there. We all have our bad days, but there is no excuse for eveyone you meet to be rude. (Thank GOD that last time I was there it wasn't like that, but I've been places like that and it's miserable) I do think though, that if they paid their employees more money, it would attract a whole new class of people that would respect their job more.

As far as the places needing to be clean, I agree with that, but during certain times, things can get unnoticed. I think we may be too tough on them. Just like at home, our house can get a little messy during peak hours, the same is at WDW. If everywhere you go it is like that, then yes, there is a problem, but a few places here and there shouldn't be a problem. We need to be more understanding.
:D

I think they should have an incentive program for employees that do a good job. (Maybe they do have this) Is there a place that you can report good employees? I would LOVE to keep names and report them that they are doing a spectacular job!

By the way....the reason the unemployment rate in Orlando is one of the lowest in the nation is because Disney World employs about 60,000 people.

I just recently returned from a trip. My feelings are this (since they are fresh I will give them) most of the workers in WDW are nice people and do a great job, however, you may run across that one bad apple (kind of like Cindy's Suprise Celebration). Ok, enough of the humor. That one bad Cast Member may ruin or throw a kink in your vacation. Even some of the really good Cast Members can have a bad day. I mean, there are 365 days in a year and everyone is bound to have a bad day at least once or twice. That can carry over into the Cast Member's job. Cast Members are human, they are not animatronic machines. Even if you pay more for your vacation you are bound to run across one or two bad Cast Members. With 60,000 employees the odds are that there will be a bad one or even two in the mix.

During my recent trip I thought about all of the services, entertainment, maintenance, etc that goes on during a day at WDW. I must say it is incredible. all the shows, the amount of food, clean-up, ride maintenance, etc. My Goodness! Walt Disney World is like a vacation city instead of a vacation spot. They do this every day of every year. I am not saying this is an excuse for poor service and bad Cast Members, but just think about the engine Walt Disney World is. Incredible!!!

Nope, I totally disagree. All the rude CM's I've encountered speak very well english I remember exactly what they've said in plain english. JMO.

Where do you get the WWWD pins?

When I go to WDW I tend to go with rose colored glasses, which is not usually in my nature. I try to leave all cynicism at home and enjoy a great time with my family at a fantastic place to escape reality for a week. I go looking for the good and if there is something that isn't quite what I had hoped I don't let it get to me. I'm not going to let a negative outweigh all the positives. If you go looking for something wrong you are going to find it, but remember where you are and why you go there in the first place. I don't go expecting a CM to make my trip wonderful, I go expecting to have a wonderful time with my family. My two cents...

this is a good idea....I think Hampton Inn does somethign like that...and we always tend to have enjoyable stays at them

As the years go by i think the guests are getting more rude and selfish and more expectant...i dont really believe that the CMs are just deciding that their job isnt worth it anymore...and not doing it as well as they did in the years before....every where you go now a days people just throw their trash on the ground....spit their gum places wear many people walk ...just very inconsiderate....CMs really have to deal with more....and im not saying its just the guests i agree with everyone who said the CMs are human beings just like you and me and have bad days not that they should take them out on guests but it sometimes happens...just walk around and see the people with strollers flying through running people over...people not saying thankyou to the CMs who really are trying to help....maybe if you start with an awesome attitude and they are having a bad day and just smile maybe they will forget about what has happend to them earlier that day and smile and joyfully help out other guests!JMO
im leaving in less than a week and didnt even think twice about dealing with rude CMs i just try not to let them get to me...as for the foul language...eh...thats no good...no Disney CM should ever be heard saying any language of the sort i think thats just rude seeing its the happiest place on earth for kids...nevermind in fantasy land!! thats all little kids!...that should def. be brought ot the attention of Disney otherwise....they might not see it or hear it...and therefor wont do anything to fix it!

amen to everything you said!!! As for cussing on stage, that is means for termination.

We too went to Disney on our last trip with 3 wwwd mickey and 3wwwd minnnie pins and only gave one minnie out and came home with the rest.

Wonder what is goin on or
is the wonderful GONE!

This is an amazing subject.

We recently spend two weeks at WDW and had a wonderful experience.

I can't recall one incident where I didn't think the CM was doing the best they could.

It also seemed to me that the parks were cleaner then they hadn't been in the last couple of years since 9/11. I thought it might be due to the increase in travel and Disney adding back staff.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I tend to look for the good and overlook the bad, if possible. Maybe that is why we really enjoy our trips to WDW.

I have noticed in my recent vacations that the guests seem to be rudier. They will run you over without so much as an "excuse me". Maybe they think since the vacation costs so much, they are entitled to be rude. I just smile and remember I am not working!

I agree about the guests things. The CMs are usually pretty nice, it's the guest that are jerks. It's like they think their family is the only family there and their kids are the only kids that want to go on that ride. They just barricade through like a pack of wild gorillas with their strollers. It makes me quite angry!!

This has me Laughing-out-loud.

Some of you go to WDW with pins to "reward" good behavior in Cast members? OMG! Sounds like Grammar School.LOL!

  :p :bitelip: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I haven't done this yet, but I think it's a good idea. Just like you want to be praised when you do an outstanding job at work, it's the same thing there. If they are doing a real good job, then someone should take notice of it and tell them about it.
