Walt What Happened!!!!!

I just realized that I needed to make something clear. My CM problems were at WDW travel not at WDW. I personally did not run into any bad CM's at the World.

I have to say I think the OP was a victim of her own bad attitude! If you start out thinking anyone anywhere should kiss your feet because of how much money you spend you are due for a wake up call. I have seen it time and again, 99% of the CM's give back the attitude that you give them. When my family and I are at the World we are overjoyed to be there and meeting a CM with a BA is so rare I can only remember one or two over 14 trips. For any CM's out there: the Hart family loves you for what you do!

I think the problems atWDW are due to the customers, not the staff. People on this board are expecting their feet to be kissed, to have a "magical" time (exactly what is that?) to have superior service 24/7. It is time to start being realistic. No one should or will kiss your feet. IMO, a magical time is what you make of it. Enjoying the people you are traveling with and your surroundings, having fun! What ever happened to kindness. If you are considerate and friendly, then you will probably receive the same in return. As for messy restrooms, when you enter a dirty one, don't add to it. You throwing in paper towels into an overflowing one does what? Go tell a CM about the problem.

I just returned from a great 8 day trip. The CMs were all very helpful. That is all I wanted from them. I didn't expect free things, or upgrades (I did receive a room upgrade, I didn't ask for it). I treated the people I came in contact with please and thank you and I got the same. I received towel animals. I left a tip each day and my room neat and orderly - I don't abuse maid service. At Whispering Canyon Cafe, Steve, our waiter spent so much time joking around with us and my kids because we were kind and didn't abuse him. He even gave my 7 year old son his handkerchief holder from around his neck.

I beleive that people are going to WDW with very high expectations. Especially when you read on these boards how something nice happened to someone, you go expecting it to happen to you too. The word "magic" is used constantly and everyone's definition of it is different. I'm in a place where I feel safe, we are having fun and are together, then that is magic.

People bash Disney at every turn. Especially transportation. I think they do a great job moving as many people as they do each day. Of course you are going to have to wait. Wouldn't it be nice if you could walk to your stop and have a bus there waiting? I understand that after a long hot day in the park and your kids are crying or asleep in your arms the wait seems to take forever, but if you calm down and look at it logically, a 10 minute isn't horrible.

Give Disney a break and look at yourself. Hey, it's only my opinion!

You were there? Why would you judge this person or this situation when you know so very little about it? I think that we all should be able to share the good and the bad of WDW without people accusing us of having a bad attitude.

This is just something I've noticed on these boards that really bugs me. You can tell about how you didn't have the same experience. You can talk about your extra magical gathering. You can talk about how you've never encountered an un pixie dusted CM (most of the ones maybe 98% have been wonderful but I for one have met that stinky 2%), but you can't say that someone elses's experience is wrong.

PS when I spend that kind of money I like my feet kissed just a little bit!::yes::

Beautifully expressed! ::yes:: I too, believe in the same kind of "MAGIC." I also believe, you receive what you "PUT~OUT" there...so use caution. If you are rude and abrupt with people, they will (more than likely), respond accordingly. The same goes for the opposite (thankfully). There are a great many people in this world...whom believe it is up to OTHERS to entertain them, each day of their lives. So many times, I have heard someone say, "Oh, He/She MAKES me so happy." No one can TRULY "make" you happy...you are responsible for this emotion. 100%. :teeth: What a terrible burden to place on someone! I've been married to the most wonderful man, for 18 years. From the moment I met him, I've never even "seen" another man. But, he does not MAKE me happy, nor does he have to die trying! He "enhances" my OWN personal HAPPINESS! I am happy, by nature/choice. I awake in this mood, and fall asleep the same. No one on this earth should have to spend their days TRYING to MAKE someone else happy. It should not be such a TASK. The poor souls at WDW (CM's) work tirelessly to MAKE the GUESTS happy. When they succeed, it's because the guest was intrinsically & inherently "HAPPY" to begin with! When they Fail, (to MAKE a guest happy) it's due to the opposite reason. Some people, are not happy--period. They simply never will be. Some even derive a sense of pleasure/happiness from BEING UNHAPPY (as perplexing as this may seem). When a person is unhappy with themselves...they are unhappy with the world, and vice-versa. To each...his/her own. I just prefer...to avoid these sour malcontents, as they only tend to DRAG YOU DOWN.
Enjoy the "MAGIC"...whatever your interpretation! ;)

I'm so glad to read of a positive experience someone had at Disney recently!! I was really getting worried that everything had changed since we had been to WDW last in 1999. I realize that someone can have a bad episode, but hopefully, that's a rarity. I do agree with a post poster that it seems like a lot of people are after free upgrades, free passes, free conceriege service, etc. that maybe some of the CM's are starting to be suspicious of customers. Thanks for relieving me of my worries, rileyroosmom!

Couldn't have said it better!!! I wish everyone realized this!!

I love when people get all upset at the bus stop after waiting 5 minutes and go get a taxi. If they cannot wait for a bus, how are they going to wait in a line for attractions. I have always wondered that.

Sorry to the OP because of their bad experiences with the CM's. There are good and bad employees in every industry everywhere. Disney has so "blown their own horn" that people do expect more and Disney is well aware of that. I watched that special on WDW on the travel channel and the management expressed that they knew this was a common expectation. I do believe if you go looking for good you will find it but unfortunately sometimes you can also find "the bad" too. I also think that sometimes views are affected depending on how hot and crowded the parks are, etc.

I think it is unfortunate that it is a common theme on this board that as soon as someone says something negative they are bashed or the problem is said to be solely theirs. No I don't expect anyone to kiss my feet but I expect to be treated nicely as I treat others. If someone doesn't like their job then simply quit. There are plenty of people that work for low wages and are just happy to have a job. We have had some bad experiences as well. Do they outweigh the good experiences or leave me disliking WDW? No. We wouldn't be going back so many times this year. I think some of us that frequent often forget that for some this is a once in a lifetime trip that they have been sacrificing for and then when disappointed it is a double sting. I continue to love WDW and will go back. However as with everything, things change sometimes for the good and sometimes for the not so good. It is all in someone's perspective but not for anyone else to judge what their experiences were or were not. Have a good day.:D

HEAT...is what Florida supplies & CROWDS...are what WDW provides! If people do not wish to subject themselves to these elements...they should STAY AWAY from the HEAT/CROWDS~! Simple...enough. :teeth: The heat, and rain, and crowds never affect my mood. It is on the perpetual "BLISS" mode...because I am WITH my loved ones, away from the GRIND! Time is merely too valuable and priceless to waste being frustrated or angry with others. You can only "find" what you are looking for...good/bad.

I never "expect" a certain treatment from others. I have NO CONTROL over such emotions/reactions....nor a DESIRE to exact anything from anyone. I "do unto others as I would "LIKE/PREFER/WISH/HOPE..." they will do unto me." BUT...I never expect or demand such treatment. If they do not, so be it. When in WDW, I'm on vacation. I do not sweat such things, and just keep moving forward...smiling. I refuse to permit someone elses negativity...from RUINING my precious TIME! I also have a tendency to "empathize" with others exhibiting less than favorable attitudes, or having a bad time. Part of the "human condition."

*My DS is a RN...NICU. She deals with sadness, long hours on her feet (12+...days on end!), and still maintains a positive perspective. It's all a matter of personal choice. Everyone makes a distinct premeditated "choice" to be any of a number of emotions (ie: Happy, elated, excited, OR sad, depressed, angry, etc).

Like some beautiful lyrics of one of my FAV Dis songs reflects:

*You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew you never knew

The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never ends

As I wrote earlier, I appreciate the OP's post...and hope they enjoy a better time on their next visit. Enjoy LIFE...and continue to truly LIVE each & every blessed MOMENT..to the FULLEST, as if it were your last. Someday...it will be. :goodvibes

The best way to do Grand Gatherings is to have everyone make their own reservations and then link them together with a gathering number.

This aleviates the problem of one credit card for the entire group.

As for bad aditudes by both CM and Guests. Everybody has bad days, try to overlook that and don't take everything too seriously.

I am a CM at WDTC and I try to keep a positive attitude. I once had a guest tell me that one of the things wrong with WDW was that there were too many kids there.

To me the best one is to complain about the long walk down a hall. My goodness you are inside and it's air conditioned and you gripe about a room at the end of the hall.

Of course if you put them near the elevator they will complain about the noise. :)
