Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

We usually stay at the Swan and have our driver stop at Speedway to get a case.
This is for my ds who is going tomm. I don’t know what transportation he’s getting but maybe he can ask them for a quick stop at Speedway. He drinks a lot of water.

Hello kind people!
I apologize for asking newbie questions rather than research.
My mom has been admitted to hospice in Ohio(I’m in PA) and I am trying to deal with a reservation before turning my attention to family matters.
Here’s what I want to do: book a room for 1 night on Nov 11, in hopes of snagging Jollywood tickets for that night.

The party is over at 12:30, and we will leave the next day after breakfast for the autotrain. This will be an add on of one night after 2 weeks at the Vistana.

I’ve never stayed at Swolphin. I have an AP voucher, AAA membership, and will be 65 on the trip. I need to have it booked and added to MDE by June 28.

Which one would you pick?
How would you reserve it?
Any general wisdom on best price from my options?
Again, sorry for not learning it myself! This thread has 1042 pages!

Hi @erinch - I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. What a terrible time for you.

As far as what to book - truly, I usually go for price, especially if only for 1 night.

That said, how many people will you have with you? If a few, I recommend either the Swan or the Swan Reserve for the size of bed. The Dolphin has doubles not queens in double rooms. The Swan Reserve has mostly queen rooms with a few double rooms so be careful. Swan has all queens.

I would price out based on the AP rate (QWH), the AAA rate and the senior rate to see which is best! I just tried to price it out with discounts and didn't see any - likely because that is the weekend of the Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic so it's a VERY busy weekend at the Swolphin.

Regular rates are available - with a small discount if you pre-pay.

It is going to be very hard as that is Veterans Day weekend, Jersey Week (a very popular time to visit WDW), near the end of Epcot Wine & Food, and finally the Swan & Dolphin Food and Wine Classic as @champagne&disney posted above.

Dave is right. Prices for November 11 start at $439 right now (this is the Queen, no view, Passholder rate at the moment).

Weird...guess I will try and see. Just a quick solo trip, didn't see king rooms on offer that weekend at either half with the discount so I'm probably going with Swan for the queens. Will be my first time there, I've only ever stayed at the Dolphin.
I don't think I've ever seen a king room offered when booking an AP or AAA discount.

Also, I agree with the comment that deposits are very inconsistent. I booked an AP discount for marathon weekend a month ago and haven't yet been charged a deposit. I've had them charged at time of booking and just days before arrival. No rhyme or reason for when it happens.

I've booked king rooms at the Dolphin before on the govt discount, I think the inventory is just extremely limited for those categories at the special rates.

Is AAA generally the best price for Swan & Dolphin?
We have been comparing rates and the Swan is about $120 less than the Boardwalk Inn or Beach Club for our Nov dates.
I was hoping to save a little more than that. 🙁

Rates change frequently. I was able to get a lower rate for my upcoming stays there this coming September and a November. I’m older and use the senior rates.

I have gotten better pricing with Senior and AP discounts. Pricing at Swan/Dolphin is often very good, sometimes okay, and occasionally outrageous. Keep checking.

Can someone explain to me why the rate changes on the Bonvoy app when I click on a particular day? Searching with flexible dates for July/august and some days are quoting $209 but then when I click on it it will say $300+ for tor night depending on which room you pick. There’s nothing for the original $209

I think it’s that the flexible rate page doesn’t include the $40/night resort fee or any taxes.

If I click on a $209 night, at the bottom it changes to $280 and says taxes and fees included.

Going to next screen, choosing a resort view room bumps to $309 (with include taxes and fees button selected on that page).

Hope that helps.

Right you are. They’ve recently modified the rates that appear elsewhere to include the $40/day resort fee EXCEPT on the flexible date option matrix. Hopefully they’ll change that soon too.

We usually do pool after the parks if we’re back in time, worth venturing to the swan/dolphin or is the reserve pool good enough.
The S/D Grotto Pool complex is amazing. So much to do. Well worth the short walk across the street.
Does anyone know if the Swan/Dolphin buses run from MK after the Halloween parties?

Yes, they will run up until 1 hour after the party ends. So if the party ends at midnight, the last bus will leave at 1am.
The 1 hour is correct, but remember, Disney will never leave you stranded at a park.
First time poster so I hope I’m doing this right.

5yo son/wife/I booked Swan for early September. His first visit to Disney; our first stay at Swan. Excited. But also seeing that loud balcony work right now. I went back a few posts and saw similar work occurred at the Dolphin in the fall (I think).

Any idea how long this work might go? I called and got a wishy washy answer that included advising to call back in August.

Thanks in advance.
Welcome to the S/D thread, @U2D2. With a little over 2 months to your trip, that advice is probably decent, check back. Have you tried the text feature on the app?
I’m quoting myself but can anyone verify if you can buy a case of water in the Dolphin gift shop.
TIA
He should be able to get all the water he wants from housekeeping, lmp, They are very good about that. If he wants, he could order an Instacart or similar also.

I'm very sorry to hear this, @erinch. Blessings for mom, you and your family.

Above advice is good.
