Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

As someone who had a Swan stay go very wrong I hear you on questioning ever returning. It looks like when things go wrong with Swolphin, they go really wrong.

I won’t touch Swan again, though I did a night at SR last month and enjoyed it. But- nothing went badly wrong.

I totally get that. I used to love Port Orleans Riverside. Until they messed up badly. It was a long time before I even considered booking there again.

We drove to AK late this afternoon and returned around 8pm to have the parking attendant tell us that self parking had no spaces available and that we could either valet (at the usual cost) or park at the Swan Reserve for free. We decided to drive to the Swan Reserve, where the attendant told us that parking is never free there and he had no idea why the attendant at the Dolphin would have told us that.

I would have driven back to Dolphin's entrance, parked with the flashers, and gone inside to the front desk, and then allowed a member of management to figure it out with the parking staff while I went to my room. If they chose to treat me like hot garbage for their room rates, there is no chance I'd return. I'm not a jerk, and I know that in the service industry, a big party can throw stuff off, and they may have had to grab some new, inexperienced staff, and perhaps the SR peeps didn't get the memo about parking - all that is understandable, and I've dealt with similar, but smaller issues first hand as a customer, and as an employee. If they have service issues like that because of the party, I don't believe I have to suffer for it, and have time wasted for that amount of money. Nope. Hard no for me. Even MY blood is boiling for you on this one.

BTW - huge fan of Swan/Dolphin here. I've never had any sort of bad issues. For the most part, I've been extremely happy there, and it's the first place I'd try to book when going to Wallyworld.

Gonna make your day- Swan gives away bottled water free! (Technically it’s included in the resort fee)
Is this still happening? The language on the Marriott site has changed to 'bottled water, for a fee.' Of course it also says high-speed internet, for a fee.

We stayed and had 2 bottles of water in our room the one night we were there. We are Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elites

I haven't tried for a virtual queue from Swan. Any issues on cellular/Verizon?
Was there in October... no issues with Verizon cellular at Swan.

And had plenty of water bottles for two of us.

Have noticed that Marriott has brought back their non-refundable rates... in doing so they seemed to have tweaked some of their other rates up. Like Annual Passholder and Florida Resident Rates. Rates in general have been tracking upwards for the last year... as travel has been coming back. Those non-refundable rates are pretty impressive.... but in these times I'm not ready to commit that far out.

I understand that there may (or may not) be 2-4 bottles in the room. That's not enough for me! Can i buy a case there? Or maybe at the Boardwalk. hmmm :)
