Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Finally...found some photos on-line of renovated Swan rooms! (No payment necessary :rotfl:)

Some are from Hotels-dot-com, some from Trip Advisor. The 2nd and 3rd photos are from a renovated suite.

I love the changes, and can't wait for my December trip!

Beautiful photos!! Finally, getting rid of that hideous furniture unit and updating the color pallet and feel of the rooms. That shower looks awesome. I have always wanted to stay at the Swalphin but could not get past the decor. I am very pleased to see the changes and look forward to seeing more extensive pics :cheer2:

Now the question is how to score a renovated room for an Oct. ressie (already booked for standard room) staying on SPG points?

Does anyone have a rough number of how many of the rooms at the Swan have been renovated up to this point?

I think someone previously posted that you could add points to guarantee getting a renovated room. Check back a few pages...

So this is my first post but I am a long time viewer of this forum. My wife and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary, my 30th birthday, and her 32nd birthday (a couple weeks ahead) on our trip out to Disney World early next year. Were taking a couple days before hand and staying at Universal's Royal Pacific before heading to the Swan for five days. I had saved up rewards points and booked five days for one of the Deluxe Alcoves. Reading through some of the posts I had a couple questions I figured could be answered here -

1. Does anyone know if the Deluxe Alcove rooms have been renovated? Also could an Epcot view be requested when we arrive (I assume it can but that its not at all guaranteed).

2. Are magic bands required for extra hours or can a linked card be used? Are the magic bands worth it or is it (I suppose this could be subjective)?

Once again thank you for any help, and please feel free to provide any suggestions. Its been 16 years since I've been to Disney World and nearly 20 since my wife has been.

Welcome to the dis, bobby, and the S/D thread.

Not sure about the renovations, but yes, you can request a certain view, but as you said, certainly not guaranteed. You might put it in the concierge request ahead of time.

A linked card will work just fine. The bands won;t do anything additional except if you have Memory Maker, then some benefits there for on-ride photos/videos.

And a Happy Anniversary and Birthdays to both of you. Sounds like a nice way to celebrate all of that. And make sure it is noted on your reservation and the concierge form that are celebrating, and let them know when you check in.

Dan thank you very much for the information.

Do you have any recommendations for breakfast in the morning?

Boardwalk Bakery is also a favorite of ours. If we are looking for a leisurely breakfast, FRESH at the Dolphin is terrific!

Fresh at the Dolphin is great, as is the buffet at the Garden Grove in the Swan. For a quick but tasty breakfast, the Boardwalk Bakery mentioned above it good. Lastly, The Captain's Grill at the Yacht Club or Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club, both good spots.

When I booked my room today on the phone the agent told me that a nine digit confirmation code would come on my confirmation email...and I would need this to link to MDE. All that appears on my confirmation email is a 7 digit confirmation code....What is my next step?
Thanks :)

I think we'll have time to try both, and thanks everyone for the suggestions. We have reservations on Saturday for the Crystal Ball, but otherwise do not have any in park reservations for breakfast. I think unless we've adjusted to the time zone shift we'll probably be getting up at 9-10 am anyways.

We returned Friday from an eight day stay at Dolphin. While the weather wasn't picture perfect, we had a lovely time at Disney as always. There were several bumps in the road during the trip and while check-in at the Dolphin left a lot to be desired--we still had a great time and dreaded our return to reality. Looking forward to a return in May if the price is right. :thumbsup2
