Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

When I booked my room today on the phone the agent told me that a nine digit confirmation code would come on my confirmation email...and I would need this to link to MDE. All that appears on my confirmation email is a 7 digit confirmation code....What is my next step?
Thanks :)

I think you might need to call the Swan or Dolphin.

We returned Friday from an eight day stay at Dolphin. While the weather wasn't picture perfect, we had a lovely time at Disney as always. There were several bumps in the road during the trip and while check-in at the Dolphin left a lot to be desired--we still had a great time and dreaded our return to reality. Looking forward to a return in May if the price is right. :thumbsup2
Welcome home, Tess.

Looks great!! Thanks, Lexi.
Thanks for the photos, Lexi! I do love blue. :)
Beautiful photos!! Finally, getting rid of that hideous furniture unit and updating the color pallet and feel of the rooms. That shower looks awesome. I have always wanted to stay at the Swalphin but could not get past the decor. I am very pleased to see the changes and look forward to seeing more extensive pics :cheer2:
Now the question is how to score a renovated room for an Oct. ressie (already booked for standard room) staying on SPG points?

Happy to be able to help. I was so excited to find these photos!

This morning, when I was double-checking to see if my room rates for December have changed, I stumbled upon some additional information re: the renovated rooms. Turns out they've created a new booking category for these rooms: Grand Deluxe Guest Rooms. Here's the description on the S/D website (link to page here).

BRAND NEW: Grand Deluxe guest rooms are now available at the Walt Disney World Swan as the resort is undertaking the largest renovation in its 25-year history. This fabulous new room design is inspired by the resort’s water-themed architecture to create a serene and sophisticated atmosphere.

Experience our newly designed guest room completely renovated with upgraded furniture, chrome fixtures and all of the latest technology including large HD TVs. Additional power outlets provide corporate executives and family travelers more options for use of personal electronics.

The Grand Deluxe guest room blends a beautiful combination of whites, blues and grays creating a tasteful ambiance that appeals to adults while abstract artwork playfully delights children as well.

The centerpiece of the room is the famous Westin Heavenly Bed with its all-white custom-designed pillow-top mattress set, cozy down blanket, a trio of crisp sheets, goose down comforter and four over-stuffed pillows.
The design continues into the completely new bathroom where guests may enjoy two separate vanities and a back-lit mirror mounted on iridescent glass tiles.

Most rooms feature a wonderful view of the beautifully landscaped resort grounds, but you may also choose to upgrade to a Grand Deluxe room with a balcony to further enhance your view of the pools, lake or Disney’s BoardWalk entertainment complex.

*NOTE: Not all rooms have balconies

I called the hotel and was told that the only way to secure a renovated room is to book this new category, which (not surprisingly) lists for a higher rate than a traditional guest room. By way of comparison, my December rate for a traditional room (no balcony or resort view) was $210/night (plus the usual taxes and fees)...the Deluxe room rate for the same period is $237/night. I decided it was worth the extra $$ and switched over my reservation.

Should be interesting to see if this room category is dropped after the entire resort has been renovated.

Hope this information is helpful.

PS: :thumbsup2 to additional power outlets!

Interesting find, Lexi. :thumbsup2 I would agree that the separate category would end when all are complete, but that the higher price will not end.

Yes, I'm pretty sure the higher prices are here to stay...gotta cover those renovation costs!

Does the Swan/Dolphin wait until Disney releases their discounts before they adjust their rates? We are looking at a late January stay and the rooms at the Dolphin are in the low $300's. I remember looking a year or two ago and they could be had for under $200.

I was hoping to see some responses to this person's question. I'm going from April 11 - 16 and find that there are few if any discounts off rates above $300 at the Dolphin. Will they come down as we get closer?

I'll be interested to see how many points these go for.

I'm booked in one for next March - Grand Deluxe room (with balcony) resort view. It was for very little extra points. For the week, instead of 60,000 points it was 6,600 points. To have a guaranteed renovated room with a balcony also that was well worth it!

I had to call to book it; it wasn't available to book online.

Thanks VICB. Just found your response; I appreciate it and hope mine works out the same!

Has this been answered?

I have been looking at rates for June; and yes, they have been higher ($300s)than I am used to seeing. And, right now, both the Swan and Dolphin are showing no availability for the week in June we are planning to be there. It seems a little odd to me, truthfully.

VICB kindly replied to my question on Dolphin discounts in August...

No definitive answer but.... when I booked Dophin for the first week in May this year I don't think any discount rates were available for those dates until about Nov or Dec. I booked with a AAA discount and resort credit of $50 per room. Between the initial booking and my trip that rate dropped several times. Then I would just call and ask to have the current discount rate applied to my reservation. We were lucky that the week we were going was not terribly busy at the hotel so we got a really great rate, even dropped within the last three weeks so you have to be really dedicated about checking on line. Also I started out booking standard rooms and was able ultimately to upgrade to resort view at a much lower rate than the standard started out. Good luck.

Folks here might not see me for a number of days. On my way this morning for a knee replacement, 3 days in hospital, up to 2 weeks in rehab nursing home. Then outpatient PT for a couple months. Maybe won't have to rely on scooter in future trips. :cool1: I'm sure I will be checking in here now and then, just less for some time in the near future.
