Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

And honestly, I don't understand the mistreatment of people using points. It isn't as if the points magically appear in anyone's account (beyond a single one-night 50,000 award if you have a Bonvoy Am Ex).
Simple they don't have a normal reservation agent process to move "Reward" stays. It is a manual process and as several previous posters have indicated above. You need someone from the Swan & Dolphin in-house or call the specific phone number in the email you receive.

The issue with the points is the main Marriott system adjusts the number of points required based on the date of the new booking/modification. That's why it is showing 60K or 50K vs 40K when guests booked very early.

As I mentioned earlier pre-paid or deposit only reservations are easy to move to the Swan or Dolphin since the reservation agent(s) all are trained since it a normal "workflow" process. Moving Rewards is a "special" process and the agent has to be trained on the special process due to the delay in the Swan Reserve opening.

If it looks months away from opening as stated above I guess we will be out of luck. I've never had so many problems planning a WDW trip as I have this year. I do have reservations at AoA and Hilton Signia. I was able to get an employee rate at Signia for $55 a night however I'd rather stay at the Swan. I guess time will tell.

What is the current situation with housekeeping? We arrive at the Swan on the 30th, and I'm trying to figure out tip money. Or is the service so low now that I don't need to bother?

They tell you when you check in that there will be none. I was there in April in a standard room and a week ago in a sort of suite, both times around day 3, they came and made the bed, took the dirty towels and replaced them and water and coffee.

As I said, I am not an expert at ALL - just a personal observation driving by several times during the 2 weeks I was at Disney at the end of August.

What about looking at the regular Swan and Dolphin for your dates? If you have an Annual Pass the code is QWH. And availability is popping up here and there even when it wasn't available before.

I watched much bigger buildings go from “there’s no way that will ever be done” to “woa, people live there now” very fast, especially at the end.

But this still makes me nervous cause I don’t see availability anywhere else for my week

Thank you. Guess I don't have to plan on a daily tip.

I have the Swan for the beginning of our trip. I work for a man who owns both Marriott and Hilton properties so I'm able to get and employee rate at either. I rotate my days so that I can get both. The HIlton Bonnet Creek is $55.00 a night and the Swan Reserve is $104.00. The Reserve has 5 nights in a row at the employee rate so I grabbed it. I kept the Hilton Singia in case we choose not to spend the $500 a night a AoA. We don't spend a lot of time at the resort anymore so I hate to spend hundreds more a night for a bed and AoA is far from deluxe. Thanks for your help.

Does Phins at the Dolphin still serve those huge Bloody Mary drinks on Sundays from 10a-2p?

And if so, do you need any kind of reservation for that?

Does it tend to get crowded for this, or what?

Just got moved from the swan reserve to the dolphin. Oct9th- 11th. We had a Jr suite booked at the reserve they moved us to a alcove room at the dolphin. It ends up being about 200$ cheaper and I am assuming the savings will just go into the last payment. Has anyone stayed in the alcove rooms? we got a king + sofa.

I almost feel like they held back rooms the first week or so of September as it seemed like *most* folks got moved a little more easily. But management seems WAY behind the curve in getting people informed and accommodated. . I was at the Dolphin right before Labor Day and in person, the building looked months away from completion.

It isn't as if the points magically appear in anyone's account (beyond a single one-night 50,000 award if you have a Bonvoy Am Ex). Folks using points are usually long-time loyal Marriot people that have spent a lot of time and money with Marriot. They are still getting their (absorbent) resort fee. And I'm sure folks spend at least a little $$ on food.
The point thing absolutely could have been solved by Marriott Corporate working with Swolphin as Marriott administers the program… Bonvoy!

I was in a King Alcove room at the Dolphin in May - I shared photos of the room in this post on this thread:

While I'm at it, I'll also ask... does Kimono's in the Swan require reservations?

Or can you at least get on a waiting list on a Thurs night?

I was able to link my SR reservation but now can’t do a magic band order. Is that because it’s not a Disney resort?

@CBMom01 you should be able purchase them but at S/D there are no complimentary ones since its not a Disney resort.

@Seabean - You can check hours for both Phins & Kimono's via the Swan Dolphin Mobile App they keep it up to date with the days and hours of the restaurants - just click on the I'm on Property then Restaurants. It is a good idea to get reservations for Kimonos if you know you want to go in advance but you're probably fine if you don't. Phins doesn't take/need reservtaions, they open at 3:30. Looking at the menu I'm not seeing a Bloody Mary though :( also not one at the Cabana either. Could be they have one and it's not listed.

So, MDE glitch. Got it. I’ll add it to the list :)
You will need to purchase through the normal Retail channel. There is no options for Discounted MBs with a Swan, Dolphin or Swan Reserve reservation linked to MDE. You can use Shop Disney online or even purchase them in the Disney store in the Swan & Dolphin.

Note: Even Disney guests don't get Free MBs after Jan. 1, 2021 for new new reservations. They do get the option to purchase discounted MBs with a Disney resort stay.
