Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

One thing I read, that peaked my spidey senses was hearing a pod caster talk about having their magic band (not both he and his wife, just his) scanned when the were going to park hop this past weekend. So while I don't think they are doing this at YC/BC or BW I found it interesting they were doing it at all.

I’ve stayed at Dolphin and Beach Club and never experienced or witnessed any issues with folks riding buses from other resorts...
The difference is now S/D no longer pays for the Disney bus service. But I agree with you.
ps. I plan on taking the boardwalk or YC bus to the MK when we're there. I'll report back if there are issues. I can't imagine. You can take a bus to any resort and have dinner and then get back on the bus .... I don't think it should be a problem.
Thanks, I'm curious how your experience goes for you! Have a blast.

going to be at the Swan on 1/25 - 1/29. so excited. I don't usually go in the winter. I know the pools are heated BUT is it really warm enough to go for a swim???
When we were there over Christmas week, it was very chilly, but we did make it to the pool twice and the hot tub as well. The Swan lap pool is NOT heated - something to keep in mind! Grotto pool was heated well, but no lounge chairs available. Hopefully you will have better luck since it won’t be a holiday when you’re there 😊

I called the direct 407 S&D phone number today and booked a room for spring break. The confirmation number will not link in MDE OR in the Marriott app. I also did not get the email confirmation.

is this normal? Should I call back?

It usually takes 24-48 hours for the Swan or Dolphin confirmation number to be processed into Disney's system. Sometimes, it will go through overnight. So, try again Wednesday morning, to see if you can link the reservation to MDE. If after a couple of days it still does not work, call back to onsite reservations and request that they resend the info to Disney.

From MDE:

It may take up to 72 hours before you're able to link a reservation to your account if staying at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, Walt Disney World Swan Hotel,

My real concern was that it wouldn’t show in the Marriott app, but it is now. :) Thanks!

We’re booked in a King Alcove at the Swan. The phone agent on the direct line said it would work great for our family of five with a king, pullout sofa, and rollaway. I hope so! Our kids are young.

She also said there would be no charge for the rollaway in this type of Swan room. Is that true?

This description of the Swan's King Alcove room is from Marriott's site (https://www.marriott.com/hotels/hotel-rooms/mcodw-walt-disney-world-swan/):

Beds and Bedding
  • Maximum Occupancy: 4
  • 1 King
  • Sofa bed
  • Rollaway beds permitted: 1 at 25.00 USD per night
  • Cribs permitted: 1
  • Maximum cribs/rollaway beds permitted: 1
  • Pillowtop mattress, and Duvet

Are you sure it was not the Dolphin, which will allow capacity of two adults + 3 children? (https://www.marriott.com/hotels/hotel-rooms/mcosi-walt-disney-world-dolphin/)

Beds and Bedding
  • Maximum Occupancy: 5

  • Cribs permitted: 1
  • Maximum cribs/rollaway beds permitted: 2
  • Pillowtop mattress, Featherbed, and Duvet

What time did you call the reservation number? If you called during a time when the onsite reservation line was closed, you would automatically be connected to the Marriott reservation line. Normally, the onsite reservation staff is very good.

If your youngest is under a certain age, perhaps they would not count as an occupant.

Yes, I saw this and find it all confusing. The woman I spoke with was definitely working at S/D with local knowledge. It was around 2:00 in ther afternoon. My youngest is 7, though she didn’t ask.

ETA: definitely the Swan. Deluxe King alcove. I asked for no balcony to save money, but when I pull up the res in Marriott, it says Swan Deluxe King Alcove with balcony, though at the lower price I was promised.

I just booked March at the Dolphin. We already had flights for the DIS Family reunion and so when they moved it to September I figured why not just come down anyway! I am sure I will need a good dose of sunshine after this cold and snowy winter.

Value Days calendar now shows dates into March 2021. Almost all of January and much of February are classified as Value Days for both the Swan and Dolphin. Only Sundays are shown as Value Days in March.

(I wish the DIS would fix the glitch for attaching links!)

UPDATE: The calendar now has half of March and Sundays in April noted as Value Days.

FYI - Marriott is doing a discount on points bookings. I rebooked my upcoming reservation at the Swan for 144,000 Marriott points (4 nights @ 36k w/ 5th night free). If you have Marriott points and upcoming travel might want to get it booked or check if you can rebook for less!
Do you know, is this for a certain time frame only? I can’t find any details about it.

My comments on the "I Love Credit Cards" thread might shed a little more light - it's part of some of their elite benefits for early 2021. Sounds like you need to book by Feb 21, 2021 - but it MIGHT apply to stays further out if you book before then.

Some Marriott News:

Comment 22 here on Flyertalk also has some info:

Hope is on the horizon, travel lovers. We’re elevating your earning in 2021 with more benefits and rewards — on top of what members received last June — to help make up for a challenging 2020. Here’s what’s coming your way.

Get a head start toward your 2021 Elite status. This February, we’re depositing into your account 50% of the Elite Night Credits (ENCs) based on your 2020 Elite status. You’ll be halfway toward achieving your goals. That’s in addition to the ENCs awarded to Marriott Bonvoy™ Credit Card Members.

Plus, we’re reducing the $20,000 spend threshold for attaining Ambassador Elite status to just $14,000 for 2021.

You can also earn rewards faster with our Better Two-gether promotion. Get double points and double ENCs for stays of two nights or more between February 16 and April 27, 2021. Keep an eye out — registration starts soon.

One more exciting benefit: We're reducing redemption rates at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy. Save up to 40% when you redeem points for Free Night Awards by February 21, 2021. Rates start at just 4,500 points per night. It can take a little time for our new rates to distribute through all our systems, so the new redemption rates are now bookable, but may not show up in the online booking experience for the next few hours.

So whenever the time is right to rediscover the world, we’ll be there to welcome you with more rewarding stays.

Where do you hope to travel next? Share in the comments below!

Want to be the first to get breaking program news? The Marriott Bonvoy Insiders Facebook Group gives you access to the latest news, offers and tips to get the most out of the program.

As always, please note that a “stay” is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/checkout activity, on any points-eligible rate.
OK - I finally read the Marriott email and understand this ridiculous marketing pitch...
One more exciting benefit: Save up to 40% on standard redemption pricing by booking Off-Peak rates by February 21, 2021.

So it's up to 40% off of the "Standard" points required. I should've figured this out earlier... So this is truly just a 10% off of off-peak promotion... but MAYBE every night is now considered off peak??

Somebody REALLY took liberties with the marketing speak there to make this sound amazing. I mean, I did save the equivalent of $80-$100 in Marriott points by rebooking my Swan stay though so I can't complain 😂😂

Oh and by the way, it seems like this might be active now AND it's really easy to rebook your Marriott reservation and the points get credited back instantly. I'm not sure if you can book these for future stays, and if so, how far out... but it might be worth locking in some potential future trips if that's of interest to you (if it works that way).

I love that thread. I recently (today) received my Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card. Taking advantage of the big signup bonus they offered. Plus the resort credit and access to priority club...it was a no brainer. I have the Bonvoy Boundless Visa already but should have gotten this AmEx card a long time ago.

Side note...You are from South Fayette? I am from Bethel Park. Small world.

Happens to me every time I’ve stayed here even when I have a confirmation number. I book through Amex travel with points. To get it linked I’ve had to call the hotel along with mde tech support. Normally I never cared until park reservations became a thing.

Yeah, I had a December stay and I had to call the MDE tech number to get the Swan added. Hotel showed up on MDE 3 or so days after I called.

It actually now has linked with the Marriott app and the MDE app. MDE even shows 2ad/3ch, which is accurate.

I’m still curious why the phone agent at s/d told me the deluxe king alcove at the Swan sleeps 5 and that I could have a rollaway for free, when none of that seems true on the website. Bizarre.

Yes this is part of the new Park Hopping process. The CMs are just scanning MBs to make sure there is availability in the Park you are hopping to and you have an active ParkHopper feature active on your ticket media.
