Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Arrrggg Not so horrible in the scheme of life but asking for advice.... I had to wait to book our last night at the Dolphin,(SPG points)in retrospect,I should have booked this one FIRST as it's the weekend before T.Giving, so I didn't take into acct. the crowds increasing that Saturday...there is no availability! Ack! I called SPG to check too.... what do you think are the odds something will open up before then? (hoping hoping,I dislike switching hotels) any hope at all? If nothing does I have a backup plan.... but..... arrggg:badpc: just looking for advice....;)

Magic Bands can be bought in the gift shop at the Swan and Dolphin both. They have the same colors as you can get anywhere else in the parks. You can get them actavated at the gift shop. However I would suggest going to the park to get it linked. It took forever in the Daisy's Garden and didn't work for our son when we hit the MK. We had to go to Guest Relations to get it fixed.

We bought ours on arrival day at HS in the big gift shop, was a quick and smooth process.

 I am SO GLAD I booked Dolphin 5 months out for Food & Wine at Epcot

Just was checking the rates and NO Availability for the Sunday night al all!!!
(we go Sun-Fri)

mmm it's popular I guess..... anyone think I will have any luck? I am checking daily.....

Has anyone stayed in the executive suites at the dolphin? I'm wondering how big the fridges are. Thanks.

They're the same mini-fridges as in the guest rooms. If they've got the fridge out on the wet bar counter rather than enclosed in a cabinet, though, it tends to run colder.

Two quick question:
1) I know it is here somewhere, but searching on the app is tough-- does someone have the page # or a link to the directions for linking your S/D ressie to MDE?

2) please tell me this is incorrect: Someone told me that ALL Epcot area resorts share 1 bus?!?!

Tia

As of last month, S/D shared with Boardwalk and that was it. Unfortunately it is Dolphin last on, last off, making it the most crowded and longest ride home.

They did at one time, back when I went in 2003 it was all 5 resorts on the same loop.. so the person who told you probably stayed there at a time when they did.

When I went in 2012, it was just Dolphin, Swan, & BW sharing a loop.

I was there in May this year, the only time I experienced that all resorts shared a bus was for DTN Disney and TL. Otherwise it was BW and S/D. We found the buses to work well. And we only used them for MK, AK and TL because you can walk or have the boat to Epcot and HS :thumbsup2 All was way better than our one stay at CSR which was lovely BUT all the busing got old quickly during the week.

Just took a quick mother/daughter trip this past week and stayed at POFQ. We ALWAYS stay at the Dolphin and will be returning again in January, but since it was just the two of us, I didn't want to deal with airport transportation. That bring said, do you think the Swan/Dolphin will ever offer Magical Express? Even for a fee? It was SO hassle free. I don't "need" to open my door or charge to my room with my magic band, but boy would I love someone else dealing with luggage and check in! Lol

Don't worry though, it's not a deal breaker! We had a lovely time, but I still prefer my beloved Dolphin!! :-)

Wouldn't that be great?! :cloud9: DME is so convenient -- not to have to wait at baggage claim would be a huge plus for us!!! (Don't even get me started about trying to check my luggage at MCO for the flight home - lines are usually ridiculous! :headache:)

POFQ is one of my favorite Disney-owned resorts! We haven't stayed there in several years since discounts were so hard to find. I snagged a $119/night bounceback rate for late August! That's when we're moving our DD down for the College Program!

My Sept reservation will have me back at the Dolphin! Christmas at the Swan! :woohoo:

What about the driver holding the sign/tablet with you name on it, you don't get that with ME? :scratchin :rolleyes1:laughing:

Oh I know, Dan!!! Guilt as charged!!! :-)

But what a thrill to drop off my luggage & the CM tell me "Here are your boarding passes - when you get to the airport just go directly to security. I will take care of the rest!" Since our flight was 9:25 pm, we had the while day to play! ;-)

However, my heart still belongs to the Dolphin !

We just booked a last minute trip: 3 nights at Cabana Bay (to see HP stuff), and then 4 nights at the Dolphin.

I will be on the rollaway bed (the kids are bigger). How uncomfortable will I be? At $25/night, I could stop at Walmart and buy a cot instead, if the rollaways are awful.

Also, I'm not sure how many park days we will do. Probably 1-2. Can I make Fastpass+ reservations before I buy park tickets? (Haven't been to WDW since 2006, so not versed in new system.)

Happy day! Booked our trip for December. No problems linking reservation to MDE. So excited to be coming back again. I am curious to see how the Swan renovations are coming along.

Welcome to the dis, july.

I have heard the rollaways are quite comfortable, though I have no personal experience. You do need tickets or voucher numbers to book faspasses. This thread may be of help.
