Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Thats what I'm debating between. The prepaid rate is about $300 cheaper for the stay but wondering when that rate will go away - when does it become too late to prepay
No one can say. It could change at any time. The only thing is if you do a prepaid rate if the rate drops later it's not possible to change it. Have you explored all your options? AAA, recipe club anything else you might qualify for?

I have AAA is the same as the other rates and recipe club hasn't had a code in a while. I plan to be patient with this one

Where can we buy coffee pods (or whatever they are called) for the coffee makers at the Dolphin? My wife HATES Starbucks coffee and want's to take along something she will drink.

I recall being told we should use Senseo pods. But I couldn't find any in a flavor we like, so we didn't try them. We carried an Aeropress and loose coffee. I'm super picky.

We loved the newly renovated room in August. Actually we stayed in 2 rooms because we moved after the first night. Our first stay so we have nothing to compare it to. No moldy smell. My husband loved the tv, LOL. The furniture looked new as did the bedding. Loved the variety of pillows!! We will try again on using point.

I don't know if this pertains to the new rooms as the doors are probably the same. The doors are heavy and appear to shut behind you but double check. Ours didn't close enough to lock without a good pull. Once we came back realizing anyone could have just pushed open the door to enter our room. We have stayed at 75% of the hotels on site and never had this happen. No big deal but want to mention it.

Thank you Amyy for your response. Glad to hear you liked the renovated Dolphin room. Going Oct 9th and paid the extra money to secure one. If you don't mind me asking, what floor and view did you have? Room number?

Woo hoo! Booked a great rate of $155 at the Dolphin for Labor Day (this weekend) through Orbitz and got everything linked up with no problems. Already got my request sent in for a renovated room. I will be sure to check back in after our stay. Can't wait to return to this gorgeous resort! Many thanks to @Dan Murphy for all the good info here. We're also going on the Keys to the Kingdom tour for the first time this weekend so I appreciate the help on that thread too.

Anyone know when the renovations are due to be completed at the Dolphin?

Thanks!

All this talk of moldy smelling rooms I thought I would share one of my travel tips. I travel a lot for work and always pack a ziplock bag with dryer sheets in it. Crumple up 2 or 3 and shove them into the AC vent. Whenever it turns on it will blow dryer sheet smell. When you come back to your room it will smell great! Hope it helps!

Booked our room at Dolphin with SPG Starpoints. Can I still make requests & what kind of room upgrades are available?
This will be our first time at the Dolphin. Looking forward to walking to EPCOT.

Sure, you always can make requests, subject to availability. Use the concierge link to make your requests. And also at check in.

Thanks. We rarely make room requests but our stay at Universal's RPR last year left a bad taste--ground floor next to elevator kept us awake all night.
Would "renovated room away from elevator" be a reasonable request? Are free upgrades offered for SPG frequently?

I think that it may depend upon your SPG status. I am a lowly member with zero status, so, although we have stayed at The Swan or Dolphin frequently over the years, we have never once been offered an upgrade.

'Renovated room away from the elevator' sounds like a reasonable request to me! We have almost always been granted our requests at the Dolphin, FWIW.

Good luck!

Sorry I am just responding. Our first night we had a room on the 18th floor with a king bed and no balcony. We can't remember the room number but it was the last one down a hall so it was super quiet. It overlooked the entrance.

We switched to the 5th floor (#5125) for a room with a balcony which is what I paid for. I also paid for a king bed but this room ended up having 2 double beds :( We liked the view as we could see a partial view of the Star Wars fireworks.

I don't think I paid for a special view such as theme park etc.

Enjoy your stay and I hope you like your renovated room. I will post pictures this weekend.

We just booked at the Swan through Costco for this October. We had a reservation through Disney for the Cabins, but couldn't get the discount when we wanted to add another night then joined Costco this weekend and saw their flyer about S/D packages. Price is very close either way and we love the location of the Swan. We will have a rental car and so will pay parking but still thrilled with this option. On the S/D website out dates weren't available. I've read through the first few pages and last 12 or so, but what is the Resort View? The only options were traditional room or resort view and the traditional wasn't available.
