Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

We would like to stay at the Swan or Dolphin for 8 nights....5 nights on points and 3 nights cash. Why is it not possible to book this on the website? If I call will they do this?

Are you on the mobile site or app? They are the worst! But the full site is much better.

Because it's two different rate plans you have to book it as 2 back to back reservations. Book the reservation on points then book at a paid rate. I would recommend checking the price of the first 3 nights then the last 3. There might be a difference in price. Book the paid nights for the cheapest nights and points for the rest. The 5 nights on points must be consecutive to get one night free. But you could pay for any 3 nights you want. Even book one night paid, five nights points, and 2 nights paid if it works out to be cheaper. Back to back reservations are treated as one stay. You could even call spg if you need help and find the idea of booking by yourself overwhelming.

Thank you so much for the reply. Is there a gaurentee they will merge the reservations so we don't have to change rooms....that is my biggest concern.

Also, we planning April 2017 and some of our nights are blocked. I looked through the flexible calendar and notice lots of nights blocked, even during weeks that would not be considered the busiest weeks. Do they hold back rooms for a while? There are several nights each month from Feb 2017 through July 2017 unbookable.

For it to be that many nights it sounds like the rate just haven't been loaded yet. I would keep checking. As for having to change rooms I know they're going to try their best to keep you in the same room but I hesitate from saying guaranteed because what is really guaranteed in life? What I know is that they do a deeper clean and launder linens between guests so if they move you not only will it inconvenience you but it also costs the hotel additional money in labor and water and electricity so it's cheaper for them to keep you where you are. For all these reasons I think it's unlikely you would change rooms.

Do we have to purchase Magic Bands or can we have ones from a previous trip activated? I know we could just use the paper tickets too. thanks!

You can either purchase them or reuse your old ones. If you choose not to use magic bands you can use your ticket. There is a little chip in each one which you can use to enter the park or to utilize fastpass plus.

Thanks. Do we have them activated right at the hotel or do we need to do that at a park where you purchase tickets? Thanks again for your help.

I haven't done it personally but I believe that you can link your magic bands to your park tickets under my Disney experience before you even leave home

I will try that out later. Thanks for your help.

We will be staying at the Swan early December. We have always stayed at the Dolphin and have enjoyed the bustling lobby and have had great views. We chose the Swan this time to ensure a renovated room and no construction. For those of you who prefer the Swan, can you tell me why? Thanks!

Smaller, more intimate, quieter. Also, the quick service lobby food location is better.

And I know most of the bell service people.

Swan - queen beds
First bus stop
More quiet
Less walking to room
Garden Grove buffet breakfast - love this place
In December - smelling chocolate santa by the java bar

Does anyone know when construction at Dolphin is scheduled to be finished? I'm looking to book June of 2017 and was going to choose Dolphin for the cheaper points, but I don't want to be surrounded by construction noise on vacation.

Right now I am thinking The Fountain for our arrival night. I think we will get in around 7 or 8 and might walk around the Boardwalk too. Where do you eat for breakfast? Dolphin/Swan or someplace else We have been to Disney several times, stayed on the Boardwalk and love the Captain's Grille but want to try something new that is in the area of the hotel. We like France for a quick breakfast too. Picabu seems like a good value and I think it was the Garden Grove that had a good menu. We might hit rope drop 1x throughout our trip. And if you return for lunch where do you like to eat? thanks
