Walt Disney World Parking Fee now $9 dollars

That comment alone proves that you have either never been to AK, or are just impossible to please. I (nor anyone else I have every heard) would never call AK a second rate zoo. As for saying the park does not have a single new concept that is so misinformed it is ridiculous. I would hardly say Ak's attendance (higher than both IOA and US) shows that people dislike it. And don't even start with your park hopping excuse.
So unless I agree with you I’m lying or irrational?

That hardly makes for a pleasant discussion.

No – there is not a single new concept at Animal Kingdom. There is not a single element in the park that had not already been created – and done better – somewhere else on the day Animal Kingdom opened.

The safari ride. I took one of those through Lion Country Safari in California back in the 1970s. It was better because a lion actually walked over and climbed up on the hood of our brand new car. THAT’s getting close to the animals – and there was no rush to leave for some trite, phony, made-up story about ‘Little Red’ and her AK-47 wielding rescuer. Today you can visit a dozen parks and go out on the same safari and feed the animals by hand. There’s no 15 second stop by the hippo pool before the next phony tour bus shows up. And in some places you can even camp out overnight with the animals just like you can in Africa – those creatures aren’t put away like the props at Animal Kingdom.

The animal exhibits at Animal Kingdom are small, uninformative and uninteresting compared to what other zoo offer. Spend an hour watching the Animal Planet channel and you'll see.

What else – a 3D movie, a thrill ride in a jeep, a parade that doesn’t move anymore, a couple more show, and a raft ride. Unique?

So please – read up before you start writing about “misinformation”.

If you don't then don't go there.
Considering the attendance at Magic Kingdom & Epcot and those people that make the short efficient bus ride to Animal Kingdom – I’d say millions and millions of people seem to agree that AK isn’t even worth the effort of park hopping. They’ve already paid for the place – and they still don’t go.

That’s a rather amazing accomplishment for a business, isn’t it.

The SD Zoo opened in the early 1920's. That means that it is over 80 years old while AK is not even 8. Hardly comparable by any standards.
You’re right. It means that a billion dollars, one of the world’s largest companies and a century of advances in science and technology – and Disney produced a place less interesting than what my grandfather saw when he was a boy.

I said when they became world class. Which was in the 60s/70s

And, the San Diego Zoo has free parking.

Animal park is I think $6 I think cause they're paying off the purchase.

It took Disneyland what a day to go from bad reviews to greatest thing ever? a month or 2 two be world class. Epcot was hot from day 1. And don't claim it wasn't, we've been down that path before and it's simply fact that Epcot was packing em in.

Oh and as far as the SDZoo is concerned. It took them maybe a year or two from the time they switched to using the DL model till the time they lived up to their tagline. Previous to that, they really weren't anything special as far as Zoos are concerned.

Why compare AK to the San Diego Zoo? Why not compare it to its competitor just down the road a piece in Tampa? When AK opened I was quite disappointed...I thought Busch Gardens was better. Now I haven't been to BG in years...and I have been to AK off and on because its part of my hopper. I happen to like Primevil Hurl but other than that...I wouldn't go to this park if it wasn't included. BG I probably will pay to go back to someday when vacationing over by Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater.

I don't know, I think Busch Gardens is in essence the same park it was opening day. New rollercoasters not withstanding.

You got any information outlining how the place has improved?

YoHo, BGT opened as a tropical garden and bird display next door to the brewery. It has slowly grown year after year since. They even knocked down the brewery and built a big wooden roller coaster on the space it vacated.

I am not a huge fan of BGT. It's a fun park and the animal exhibits are pretty good but it really stops there. The attractions are mostly carnival rides with a few upgrades. The two water flumes are unthemed aqua-marine trenches that you glide through waiting for the big drop at the end. The new coasters are pretty good (especially the above mentioned Gwazi wooden coaster, but the two older ones (Scorpion and Python) are the briefest roller coasters I've ridden. They've made no attempt at an e-ticket attraction other than the coasters which are basically unthemed outdoor rides. It's wide open and the landscaping in most places is weak. And, when you are along any of the outer parts of the park, you can hear the cars going by outside the wall. Even the most noble attempt an a headliner attraction (Rhino Rally) is quite disappointing.

Even though BGW has vitually the same attractions as BGT (with a few expceptions that are upgrades like Curse of DarKastle - which makes use of Spider-man at IOA technology, Corkscrew Hill - which is a big screen simulator attraction that throws in 3-D as a bonus, and Escape from Pomeii - a water flume attraction with a brief but decent indoor portion), it is an absolutely gorgeous park in an incredible setting. It's a park where you can spend a day and not ride a single attraction and still really enjoy yourself.

If BGW were to have made an attempt as some more headliner attractions, it would be an absolutely fantastic park.

Of course, you can still get free beer right inside BGT, which isn't something to sneeze at.

I agree, just find out how much you make on parking ,and add it to the ticket prices. For a family of 4 that would be $2.25 a day. If your going to get in my pocket, get in and get out. Don't keep coming back for more.

I agree, the best option would be to add the cost of parking to the ticket prices.

It’s frustrating that the parking lots near Downtown Disney’s Marketplace are always crowded. During the evenings, I have to park near Cirque du Soleil just to shop at the Marketplace.

However if Disney must have parking fees then it would be nice if they had preferred parking at Downtown Disney - Free parking for the lots near Pleasure Island and the West Side and the paid parking rule just like the parks for the lots near the marketplace (excluding cars with handicap parking permits).

So you want to move all the free-loaders over to PI & Cirque area so that when I want to go shop at Virgin, or go to Pleasure Island at night, I can't park close either?

It's a no-win situation.

.

Heck no.

We don't drive a car when we go there so I don't want to pay for parking if I don't have to.

Just an update:

I am told by my friends in Guest Relations that WDW Transportation has been checking for Resort ID's this past week.

Woohoo!

Thats not unusual. They almost always check resort ID's the week between Christmas and New Years.

Since free parking is offered to all onsite guest, I'm assuming that parking fees are already built into the room rates. They would remove the parking expense from the room rates and add it to the ticket.

Yes, I agree that folks (including myself) who want to shop at Virgin or go to Pleasure Island at night might have a longer walk but the lots are larger near the West Side therefore allowing folks to be closer to their final destination.

Universal already charges $9.00 and they have no trams it's all feet power
