Walt Disney World is in a Deep Freeze

Compare to Ariel
- on the princess float during day time parade
- a float and supporting characters for night time parade
- a ride with her name on it...
- at the character meal in the castle
- at her very own grotto
- segment in philharmonic, singing...

Ariel:
Her own show
On princess float during fantasmic

Really good point (plus AoA which someone mentioned).

Mermaid overload! :)

Not really.

AK has nothing Frozen.
Epcot has very little (until this).
Even MK will end up having very little of it other than the parade and the M&G.
I think the only park that got taken over a bit was DHS but I think adding anything new there is a good thing. We enjoyed the singalong. The parade and the ice skating..eh.

I think by the time they finish the ride in Epcot, the only other things left will be the parade, the M&G and possibly the singalong in DHS.

:thumbsup2

I agree with this. (Well, we didn't do the Ice Skating, but everything else...) We did the Frozen Premium Package, and even then, it wasn't a lot. We chose to see the parade which was short and cute, we did the singalong and then the dessert party, with our favourite fireworks of the week. They've done a good job.

Interestingly, my husband who is one of the most cynical people I know and was determined that WDW would be a once and only trip told me on the way home "I'd like to wait to go back until they have another big hit like Frozen. That stuff was some of the best we saw". He's seen the film once. He thought it was cute, but wasn't blown away by it... and he thought the Frozen offerings at DHS were some of the best things in all the parks at WDW, and was enough to make him consider going back...

The Beauty and the Beast influence is even stronger. None of us are allowed to leave the property. :duck:

lol!

How neat. I think there is a lot of excitement about Frozen (obviously!) and it really came through at the Frozen Summer Fun.

I will not miss the Maelstrom ride, I never experienced it. I never caught my interest even a little bit.

Two locations for A&E M&G is not over kill for me. As mentioned earlier lots of characters have numerous M&G locations throughout WDW.

I welcome a new ride and experience at EPCOT. :cool1:

Personally I wish they would drop a bomb on Tomorrowland Speedway and build something else in it's place. :thumbsup2

However I fully agree with your point. We want more rides (Especially in Epcot and DHS) not the same inadequate amount.

Ok. I'll give you that one. I have seen people advocate replacing the speedway with something else. And perhaps Stitch, too.

Because it costs a whole lot more not just to build a new attraction from scratch but to operate and maintain versus a swap as they are with a ride that by no means a popular ride amongst the masses of visitors.

I understand the sentiment...as a patron I agree! But I understand the business side and believe they have made a wise decision replacing maelstrom with Frozen.

Exactly. Rather than investing in expansion and adding state of the art attractions (which they can certainly afford to do), just put lipstick on a pig. As long as they add Elsa to the ride, it doesn't have to be a great attraction because everyone will flock to it anyway to get their Frozen fix. :lmao:

I'm gonna get a lot of mileage out of this one.

Replacing Tomorrowland Speedway is not the same calculation as replacing smaller attractions like Maelstrom. Speedway takes up an enormous amount of space in relatively small MK. There could be multiple attractions put in place in that space, thereby adding to the net total of attractions to eat guests (after they've been boiled in a pot of course). In this space, they could have a Frozen attraction and maybe other stuff. Given that it's adjacent to Fantasyland, putting something for Frozen here would make plenty of sense (in addition to other attractions in the space).

Mmmm - children in pot. Must stop thinking...:stir::rotfl:

OK, that over, as much as I love dear speedway, it could be Frozened. Personally, I'd love the S-u-g-a-r Rush it instead. But there is acres and acres of land in the backlot of HS. It should go there. It's just the fact that 1. Frozen (aka: The Snow Queen) doesn't take place in Norway. The real story is from Finland written by a Demark guy. So, really. And it doesn't belong in an area that specializes in accurate representations of countries.

Note: I do wish that Rapunzel had a little more than a pretty bathroom. I would have loved it if they had built a Snuggly Duckling qs place back there. The dh and I love the Duckling and the ceramic unicorns!

I knew this would be a popular attraction here. Disney may have to license some characters from Loony Tunes.

Given that the speedway footprint is situated essentially IN BETWEEN the circus area of NFL and Tomorrowland, they could move the Tomorrowland "property line" closer to SM and use that area for an entirely NEW LAND that would be LEGEND (wait for it) DARY! Introducing MK's newest land... ARRENDELLE! Complete with Anna and Elsa M&G, Frozen ride, Elsa's Cool Zone Ice Castle, Olaf's Snow Cones, etc.

Just to clarify what "too much" Frozen is.
A float in a parade
Characters appearing in the welcome show.
A single M&G location.
A stageshow theatre attraction
A retheme of an.old ride.
Lots of Merchandise.

Now think about how popular Frozen is and how much money it's making. Compare to the number of attractions for Toy Story, Cinderella, Beauty & The Beast or Aladdin. All these movies have an equal or bigger footprint in the park despite being relatively less popular.
(the word there is relatively, don't start ranting about how these movies are also popular)

Snow cones! Yes, more (pardon the pun) frozen drinks and treats. Would really hit the spot in July and August. (And no I am not being sarcastic- I really love snow cones ; ) )

I didn't get to see Frozen in the theatre when it came out. I finally got it a few weeks ago and watched it. Meh. I suppose for me, it didn't live up to all the hype. :confused3 I was pretty disappointed. I tried to ignore all the Frozen stuff while I was planning my trip this summer, because I figured it would be gone by the time I went down in October for my trip. They seem to keep extending the dead line. Closing Maelstrom is the last straw for me. I had no interest in meeting A&E, or participating in any of the Frozen stuff at HS, now I really don't. Maybe see the fireworks if it's after Fantasmic! but I won't be going out of my way to see them.

Me neither. I didn't see Frozen. But I don't think we are the audience that this is for.

How long can Frozen maintain this momentum? There are lots of factors that are involved. We shall see. There is a point where some things reach overexposure.

If Disney is not careful they could do that.

Special fireworks show
Skating rink
Build a snowman
Elsa taking over castle lighting ceremony for holidays

As long as we keep making those. Disney vacation plans, Disney can throw as much Frozen at us as they want. People are still going dispite they frozen overload.

I don't know if it will be lipstick on a pig. I'll reserve judgment after a rendering.

but I will say it appears there are serious capital investments at Animal Kingdom and rumored (so hope it is true) coming at Hollywood Studios. So looking at the grand scheme of there strategy I wouldn't say they aren't investing (maybe not how everyone wants...)

Oh, I realize that I'm not the target audience for Disney movies, really, although I do see a lot of them, I do not have kids or grandchildren. I do however have the money to go on Disney vacations, on property for a week or more, and I know there are plenty of people just like me, that go every year that they can. :goodvibes

I sure don't know how long the Frozen mania will last, that is for sure. I am shocked at it's popularity. I thought Tangled was better, and all that got was a little tower with some restrooms next to it. :rotfl:

I think from now on I will keep it to myself about attraction that I feel needs updating, Disney might make it Frozen.:rolleyes1

Hey Stitch in Tomorrowland, watch your back you might feel a slight chill. :scared1:
