I saw this bit of news/rumors on wdwmagic tonight. This comes from a CM (redshoesrock on wdwmagic). Yes take it with a grain of salt of course but it could be interesting if true.

There will not be much of 45th anniversary celebration next year.

Disney is already planning for the 50th though. Complete redo of Tomorrowland and Frontierland in Facades and new attractions. No specifics on what this will entail yet. Yes of course this could change and likely will. But this shows Disney knows the 50th is approaching and they are planning for it.

Also mention that the MK will get a new night parade eventually most likely paint the night but not yet. MSEP was supposed to be canned 3-4 years ago but we all know what happened to spectromagic.

I would also like to leave this thread open for speculation as to what else could be coming for the 50th. Like star wars land perhaps (rumored 2021 opening in DHS).

I hope Walt Disney World might have some new character meet and greets for it's 50th Anniversary. I can already picture Toulouse,Berlioz, and Duchess becoming new characters to be meetable in the France Pavilion along with Edgar from The Aristocats. Maybe Lafou might finally become a new meet and greet character along with Gaston.

Sounds reasonable. God knows MSEP is old and ready to retire.

As for Tomorrowland and Frontierland, both BTMRR and Space Mountain could get the DL treatment that is probably going to be installed in Paris as well. The only question is... Are they willing to close an E-Ticket for an entire year at WDW?

They really don't make a big deal of numbers in Florida...

I know I keep
Saying it...but it keeps coming up...

Pink castle...millenium...100 years of confusion...

And...it's 2015.

I understand but even if its little I think they will do something for the 50th

Remember WDW's 15h Anniversary when it gained alot of media attention?

Maybe a new castle show and a fireworks show? I seriously think "Dream Along With Mickey" has got to go, it's been there since 2006 when the "Year Of A Million Dreams" campaign was around. Also maybe a 50th Anniversary parade would be nice. Remember when WDW and Disneyland made parades when ever their parks reached a certain milestone? I wonder if we might get new character meet and greets including some that haven't debuted in the west. Such as Toulouse and Berlioz (Currently found in Paris and Tokyo) and Duchess and Edgar can be new.

Spirit has been saying for a while that a Wishes replacement is in the works.

I can see a Wishes replacement happening. A lot of what's been going on at MK in recent years has been crowd control related. If the Disneyland Forever experiment to spread crowds works at DL, it will probably be applied at MK in a foreseeable future.

I'm always intrigued by the thought of new attractions, but I wonder if that would include closing some of the current ones? In TL, maybe they replace Stitch with something? Just spitballing here...

Make this happen Disney!

My grandmother won a light-up visor at the 15th with her ticket entry. There were lots of other "trinket" giveaways, but I dont recall anything big. I remember the national commercial got me pumped for the trip though. I dont remember any other Disney BDAY commercials though, including this year's DL celebration.

My speculation is the 50th at WDW will be be more entertainment-based upgrades than rides. And more DVC, of course, but I could see another hotel in the works too. It will be lame city if they hold off any of the rumoured upgrades at DHS until 2021, but I expect they will because they can.

Yes, the 15th anniversary was one of the better ones. I believe they gave a car away every day. Everyone that went through the turnstiles won some type of prize. I won several free passes to River Country. That's the year they had large inflatable characters at the MK parade. It was themed to the different carnivals, Mardi Gras, etc. There was also a daytime show at Epcot that included boats pulling kites on the lagoon and also fireworks.

I just hope they do not bring back the Pepito-Bismol castle. I don't think I could stomach that again!

It will be exciting to see what's in store as the time approaches. Love all the speculation

Did not remember the car! The turnstile prizes were random though, not for everyone who ran through the turnstiles.

They could do something pretty cool with magic band prizes along that line - all-access fast pass for the day, free meal/snack, surprise waiting for you when you get back to your room, stay in the castle for the night. Since they have your information, it could be well customized. Off-site folks could get most of the same.

After I posted this info, I realized that the MK parade with the inflatable characters was for the 20th anniversary, not 15th.

I expect the 50th anniversary to be big. I predict they will do something similar to the "Remember the Magic" theme of the 25th anniversary where they are encouraging guests to recall the important role disney parks have played in our lives over the past 50 years. We will be there!!

The 15th anniversary year was my first visit. At 17, I was mesmerized by the dancing blondes in the afternoon show and parade. There is not one thing I don't remember about that visit. Yes, they gave a car away a day. But not everyone got something coming through the turnstiles. I got absolutely nothing except a magical memory that will be with me forever.

I would love to go back to the park the next time they have this type of celebration.

I would hope each park would get a little something each (sans animal kingdom which is getting TLC as we speak) but realistically the MK redos would be nice but a focus on Epcot and/or HS is a must for me
