Walt Disney rolling over in his grave

If they are banning liquor from the parks, strollers better be next. It's not really used to haul children around. It's used to haul the crap that people buy around while plowing down innocent people in front of them or trying to tap the back of ankles to make them go faster for the stroller.

YES!!!!! :thumbsup2

Now if one has a nice glass of chardonnay or a margarita is that action also dirty, smelly and common or do we move up the snooty ladder for having a classier drink?

Maybe they could just sell martinis.

I'm sure this will open a can of worms, but part of the reason my DH and I love Disney is that it's a multi-generational place. There's things for kids to enjoy as well as adults. Part of what we love about EPCOT is trying the different restaurants and different types of alcohol they serve. If Disney started removing alcohol from all the parks and made everything entirely kid friendly (I know no one has said this, it's just a hypothetical) less people will go there. I'm not saying that alcohol is that important persay, but if you start removing things adults will enjoy, less will come.

FTR, I'm not a big drinker. Whether or not alcohol is served will not determine how I spend my vacation dollars. Whether or not there are things we will enjoy as adults, will. We were disappointed that the Norway restaurant is now Character dining and that the Nemo ride now takes over most of what used to be a really cool aquarium. I fully understand that there was a demand for more Character dining, but it still was disappointing to see.

I agree. But i don't believe they should remove alcohol from the parks....just the TO-GO cups.

And the majority of the posters don't care if you don't like beer.

I like beer.

I drink responsibly and have NEVER spilled beer on anybody.

Me neither, except for at pro baseball games.

However, I did have a waiter at one of the more upscale restaurants in WDW spill an entire tray of wine glasses on me.

Red or White? Screw Cap or Cork?.....or was it just the glasses?

Perhaps we should ban the waiters at WDW as they are so "common".

Only the ones in wife beater shirts.

I have had more than one sticky, drippy Mickey Bar stuck to me. And I have had my fair share of sticky sodas spilled on me.

Definitely we need to limit the selling of sodas, lemonades, ice cream bars to sit down restaurants as they might be spilled on somebody if you try to walk around with them.

One day old lemondade would cancel out the smell of the one sodas. But I agree that it ought to be a law that you need to finish $4 mickey bars down to the stick.

& One day old beer smells almost as bad as Aqua Velva. (whups...wrong post)

BAN THE MICKEY BARS

Walking around with cups of alcohol isn't the same as walking around with a mickey bar. (Except that they're both overpriced.)

In my opinion, perfume should be banned from the parks. You only need perfume if you don't bathe, and it bothers my asthma too. And they should definately close the shop in the France pavillion that sells it. My mothers uncles cousins sister best friend said that Walt did not care for perfume. He thought it was common. And as it offends me as well, and my happiness is the only thing that is important, I say we ban perfume!

What? You say Walt wore Aqua Velva? I don't believe it!

Seriously though. I don't understand people who let the littlest thing bother them so much. It is not like you are being forced to drink. People drink alcohol. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that everyone else should have to abstain from drinking. If every single thing was banned that annoyed someone, we would have a big, empty park.

The "littlest" thing was a bunch of folks piling on the OP for having an opinion.

I don't have an opinion on perfume.

Nor do i have an opinion if people drink. (i drink.)

I never suggested banning anything. (that's 2 mis statements)

A big empty park sounds good though. :thumbsup2

And your sarcasm is noted. (all seven exagerated examples. But to paraphase your question....why get all worked up over someone's little opinion?)

No one suggested banning liquor.

The OP also used the words dirty and smelly. Most people are going to "assume" that if the action is dirty, smelly and common then the people doing it are the same. That is what was getting everyone up in arms.

Now if one has a nice glass of chardonnay or a margarita is that action also dirty, smelly and common or do we move up the snooty ladder for having a classier drink?:rotfl2:

Fair enough & good point. (re - your first paragraph....but i'm not ready to apologize yet for folks assuming stuff.)

I thought she was referring to the day old alcohol being dirty & smelly (not the people).

And regarding the snooty ladder.....walking around with a bottle of Krystal would still be "common"...since it's the "walking around with booze", not the actual overpriced Disney liquor... that makes it plebian. :snooty:

;)

'common' 'plebian'
thank you for taking name calling back to the 1800's :rotfl2:

I don't get this part :confused3 How is it different for someone to have an alcoholic beverage on a bench or at an outside table (like at American Adventure) or walking from Mexico to Norway? They are still outside, having a drink. One is mobile (probably burning off the alcohol faster ;) ) and one is sitting. What is the big deal?

Because supposedly people that are walking are spilling it all over stinking up the place.

Rats... when SSB read the title of the thread, I thought that it meant that you could finally drink beer at the Magic Kingdom! :)

You're not alone.

The majority of posters don't see the difference in sitting nice restaurant or outside bar area.....vrs. buying a beer to go (or pooring a beer in a TO-GO cup) & strolling around the park.

& it's not a big deal.

The OP & I think the strolling part (at WDW) is bad form. Alot of posters have a real problem with our opinion.

Questions:

- Do folks walk around DTD with beer cups? (i've never been there)

- What about the malls (that 80% of you probably have been to this week :scared: ) near your home. Are families allowed to walk thru a shopping mall with Mom & Dad each holding cup of beer?

If i was building a mall (or amusement park) today, I wouldn't allow it. But I'd hope to have nice pubs & restaurants there where a drink could be enjoyed. & possibly Walt would think similarly (based on his management at DL & the comments that the OP referenced).

But again.... it's NOT a big deal.

(Only reason I stepped into this thread was i felt folks mis-stated what the OP said & were piling on.)

So you would have them remove the Wine part of the Food and Wine Festival? Because that is a big part of it, strolling around with a little sample of adrink in your hand. And realistically, it won't happen. Disney makes way too much money charging $6 for a little 3oz pour.

And I wasn't all worked up in my prior post. I was trying to point out how silly it would be for Disney to do away with something just because a few people don't like it. I wasn't referencing any one particular post.

Number of people at Food and Wine carrying a drink being forced to sit = every square inch of World Showcase packed with chairs and tables for 2 months.

Would people who wanted to have a beer and listen to Off Kilter or British Invasion be able to carry it over to the seating area? In glasses?

I get a margarita each trip (pretty much the only alcoholic beverages I drink ever). I don't wander with the thing for hours. Same with DH and a beer. He finishes it rather quickly. It gets so warm, you have to. :confused3

And I honestly don't see what the difference is between seeing people walking with the blue paper soda cups or a plastic beer cup, if the visual aesthetics are the problem? If everyone poured the beer into the blue cups, would that be more appealing to you? :confused3 And what about the frozen cokes? A frozen red nonalcoholic drink and a strawberry margarita look the same to me.

As far as kids seeing it, my younger kids don't know the difference between someone with a soda cup and someone with a beer unless we tell them what is in the cup. The older ones don't seem to care what other people are drinking.
