walmart?

well honestly, if i were you i wouldn`t go at all today. unless you want to risk being trampled... but do what you want.

I do BF every year and show up at Target a couple of hours ahead of time then have to wait in line an hour or so. No way no how would I go to Walmart just because a large number of the people who go there are NUTS (SIL works there I hear stories :duck: ). But based upon the number of people who line up every year I'd say plan to arrive about 10 hours ahead of time if you absolutely positively have to have that item. 2 to 3 hours if you only kind of want the item.

Honestly there is nothing at ANY store that would make me actually go shopping tomorrow.

All the sales are as good or better in the coming weeks.

Sent DH to Walmart tonight for an iPad. He got the10 min before the 1 hour deal and walked out with the iPad by 10:50. He said it was crowded but organized.

Just got back from Walmart. Picked up 2 Ipads. 30 minutes in the store tops. No big rush, Got there at 9:40 for the 10 pm sale. Check out was long but stood around and talked to friends.
DH is hitting Staples at 5 am tomorrow for a laptop. They had lots of TV's and laptops left at our Walmart. Everyone was after the 32" Emerson TV and most got them.

We went to a movie tonight, and passed Walmart on our way home.

The police had been called due to line-skippers.

And - cars were parked for a good 1/2 mile both north and south of the Walmart. I WAS SHOCKED to see 3 smaller kids cross a busy road IN THE DARK to get to the parking lot...where were the parents????

I know it is too late for answer.

I got there at 9:00 for the 10:00 deal for the 32" TV. I was the first person in line to not get a TV and get a voucher. I really hope it comes in and they don't decide to cancel the deal.

How was your Wal Mart? Mine was crazyyy! There were a ton of police and a huge fight broke out, but I couldn't see because of the people. (I hid in the bra department in case of gunshots). I heard an employee walking by and their walkie had somebody frantically saying "We need a cop at register 25!!!!" :rotfl:

I can honestly say that I will never again go to Walmart on Black Friday. I've shopped Black Friday for years, and Walmart is usually one of my last stops, but last night it was the first because all I needed were some cheap DVDs and I wanted the $38 Blu Ray player. Some old lady was trampled over $1.96 DVDs, a huge fight broke out over something (not sure what), and there were lots of nasty people yelling at each other. So much for the holiday spirit! Every other place I've been to (both in the past and last night), things were crowded, but civilized. No pushing, shoving, fighting or yelling other than in Walmart. I won't go back there again.

I really dislike Wal-Mart ( and actually swore off of it several months ago ) however, dh and I want to get the boys a tv for their playroom and the Emerson 32 in tv was such a great deal, I caved.

We arrived at 8 pm because there was a toy I wanted for ds(3) and I wanted some of the $1.96 movies. I have NEVER seen a parking lot so full.

It was very busy inside but there were a ton of employees and it was orderly.

Mom and I got in line for the tv about 9:40. The store said they had over 500, so everyone that was in line got one.

The lines took FOREVER because there was a glitch in the registers that everytime a tv was purchased (almost everyone checking out) a CSM had to come and manually finish the transaction.

I did not see one person get upset. In fact, I was shocked at how nice every single person was the entire evening. I was back home about 11:15.

This was the first time I have ever done a "door buster," and I was pleasently surprised.

I went to Walmart around 10pm. I will never go again. It was just so disorganized. None of the employees knew where the items were, the map was not legible at all, and the lady manning the register lines had NO idea what she was doing. 3 lines were wrapped around the store, and there was no line feeding system. The lines in front of the clothing department had like 4 people in them, so we went that route. It was just a joke.

I did not see a single unruly, mean, obnoxious, or loud person though. Nor did I see anyone get trampled. Everyone was civil in all of the stores I went to!

Same here!!

I've done Walmart in the past. Ours is open 24 hours do you can go in and shop for non- sale before they unpackaged the deals. The only crazy thing I saw is that everyone camps out by the toy deals and about 20 minutes before the sale goes live, people started ripping open the plastic and grabbing the stuff even though the employees told them not to. One year, the registers crashed and luckily I had cash.

You couldn't pay me to go to Wal Mart right now. Nothing they have is that important to me. :rotfl2:

By the time I got done scouring the websites and deals and checking my lists etc yesterday I was stressed and thankful to be done. I can not even imagine going into Walmart on Black Friday. In fact.. I tend to avoid it on weekends as it is. I only go if there is something I really really need. It's busy enough for me on a regular day.

Went to Walmart, not once but twice last night/this morning. My shopping list included items from both the 10 PM sale and the 5 AM sale.

First time, got to Walmart about 9:30. My must-have item wasn't a huge item; it was the set of cordless phones for $40. But I couldn't find some of the others, even with their so-called map. I did hinge my bet earlier in the day by buying an external hard drive through Best Buy Online. I never found WM hard drive. I eventually found the 16G memory on an endcap. I also snatched the last Candyland, and some Rubbermaid storage. Was out by about 10:45. It was crowded, but organized. I actually got a cart. Last year, I couldn't even get a cart. I think the carts were from those who left immediately after the 8 PM sale.

Second time, got there about 4 AM (no sleep, shopped all night). My must-have item was the $70 jewelry making kit for $20. No one else wanted it, so I bought a few other items. Three pairs of the $4.50 character pajamas that I think were part of the 8 PM sale (Hello Kitty, Cinderella and Tink). Not crowded at all. I was out by 5:15, and it took that long, only because I went for milk after getting the kit, an my DD, who also went, bought a lot of Christmas decorations.

I guess the problems depend on where you are. There were no problems where I was.

Looking forward to next year.
