Walmart Savings Center

How do I enter a receipt that doesn't have a code to enter? Does it have to be a certain total amt. to have the code?

I haven't tried this yet, but I intend to when I get the chance. I know it sounds like a pretty cool idea next time I shop at Walmart. As much stuff as I buy usually, it just might help out a bit.

Interesting. I buy all my Publix bogos at Walmart to get the lower price. I've got time to bring the Publix ad to Walmart but not to compare every single item. Sometimes later I notice the item would have been a bit cheaper at Publix, but I'm not always able to shop while Publix is open. So this would catch the little differences. Very cool.
More pennies for Mickey!

If there isn't a tc number maybe it hasn't been rolled out in your area??

I'm up to $3.38. I'm guessing I'll save $50-100/year.

Just saved $5.89 on an additional receipt. My savings are now up to $17.25 on the last 2 receipts that I entered. Two more receipts are still waiting.

Yes. I go to WalMart a lot. I have 4 boys with 2 being teenagers. lol They eat quite a bit. ;)

What's to stop someone from hanging out at the trashcan at Walmart and entering all the discarded receipts? Is there a limit on how many you can enter a day? Seems like an awfully easy system to take advantage of.

I think it tracks who you are, unless you pay cash all the time. I'd bet it wouldn't let you add a receipt from another person if it was paid from a different credit or debit card, although I haven't tried that.

I just got my results back from my first receipt.... I got nothing. I feel like Charlie Brown trick or treating...... "I got a rock". :rotfl:

I don't think so.

I doubt that. I mean, how would it know that two different credit cards don't both belong to me? Since I'm the one that with the app, I'll be entering all of the receipts for my family. And between my husband and I, we have four different credit cards and two different ATM cards, so I can't see how this would be the case. Lots of people have multiples. I entered two receipts the day I got the app, and I'm fairly certain they were both from different credit cards.

I do think that it's possible that the software might be programmed so that it will (after the first time I use it) associate my credit card A and Debit card B with my Walmart Savings Center account and maybe with a capital M MAYBE it will know that the receipt from Credit Card A shouldn't get scanned to someone else's Walmart Savings Center account, but I don't really think so.

So yeah, I think you probably COULD grab receipts out of the trash and scan them, that's probably why there is a limit of 7 receipts a week and a total savings back of $599.99 a year.

I earned .98 off airborne chewables

Wal-Mart $10.97
Wal-Greens $9.99

Earned .98

I'm waiting on another receipt. Is there a website or app that compares all ads? or somewhere we can all compare whats on sale-lol!

Do they email you when they're done comparing or do you have to keep checking the app? I entered the receipt from buying school supplies on Monday and I'm still waiting. I'm impatient! :)

They send an email saying if you saved anything and if so how much.

My last two have taken over 72 hours.

I just tried this for the first time and I think it is all a gimick. I got credit for things that were supposedly on sale at Walgreens that are not on sale there and the same item different kind that would have also been on sale were not credited. Then they claimed to be comparing to a store that we don't even have in my area but not Target that is and would have given me more off had they compared to there. I got a whole .72 cents on a reciept for $285.

Not sure if there's another thread on this. Just wondering if others have tried it out and what their thoughts are. It's basically a website/app where you enter your receipt information (takes 30 seconds) and they see if there are lower prices at other local stores. I just got an email that they are now including produce and some general merchandise items. I've put in three small receipts. On one they didn't find any lower prices and they found 1 ($1 cheaper) on another. Still waiting on the third receipt--it takes a few days. All in all it sames like an easy way to save a little bit of money.

I honestly think this is a desperate move by Walmart to hang on to business that may be dropping. Don't get me wrong, I am the thriftiest person around (even only buy second hand clothes) But I feel like it's Walmart's way of hanging on to those who can't afford that extra dollar here and there. Big corp, imports from China, low pay for employees, and at least my local Walmart is always half stocked and understaffed. Walmart is 2 minutes from home. It is so tempting, but I have resolved to support local/regional grocery stores (employee owned). Shop for non food items mostly second hand or other regional chains (Boscov's)

Smart move though by Walmart. Who doesn't like to get money back? Although it's just gonna go back into Walmart's pocket eventually.

Just found out about this savings catcher this week. I've entered my receipt and will see how far it gets. Reading the fine print makes me laugh a little, noting that it doesn't include many things, and that they don't guarantee which stores will be included in the "geographic region".

Here's a quote from the terms of service: "◦The Walmart Savings Catcher compares prices for identical items against print and digital ads from Local Competitor Retailers. “Local Competitor Retailers” means the top retail stores based on sales in the competitive trade area of the Walmart store where the transaction took place. The competitive trade area is determined by The Nielsen Company based on a number of factors, including the number of stores and people in the area. Local Competitor Retailers may change from time to time without notice to the user."

The rest of the terms are included here and lists all the items that will not be compared: https://savingscatcher.walmart.com/terms
