Walmart Price Match Question

I know Walmart has a good policy about price matching, and it says the customer is NOT required to have the competitor's ad, but how do they verify the price? :confused3

Toys R Us has the Fisher Price iXL games for 25% off, but no stores close by have it in stock. The website lists them as $18.xx, but I don't have a TRU flyer. If I go to Walmart, can I show them the price on my phone or can I print it out and bring it?

Thanks!

I had WalMart price match an item from Toys R Us on Saturday. They didn't ask to see anything. I just told them the price and the cashier matched adjusted it.

if you do get a flyer and it says 25% off without an actual price on the item some walmarts wont price match because they dont match % off deals.

This.

TRU had B1G1 video games deal the other week. Target has a great matching policy, too, but they don't match % off. I even printed out the fact that TRU's prices on the games I was going to buy were the same as Target's but they would not match.

Could you get a raincheck from TRU showing the dollar value after the discount and maybe take the raincheck and the ad to Walmart? Hmmmm, I wonder if that would work.

no Wal-Mart should match a % off ad - to me this policy makes total sense (some people whine about it - not saying you are!).

If Wal-Mart is selling an item for $10 and TRU is selling for $20 you're still getting a better deal at WM even without the 25% off. WM would be shooting itself in the foot if it took % off like the stores that do a bigger markup do.

Not sure what the print ad says, but the website has the item clearly listed with "our price: $18.74". So I guess my question is - will it be enough to just show them the item and price on my phone to get the price match?

Thanks again!

Give it a try. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Maybe they'll do it, maybe they won't. Target wouldn't when I tried showing them a printout of the online page (game #1 = $40; game #2 = $40 with a line through the price and $19.99 underneath). :confused3 Maybe you'll get someone who will find that to be acceptable.

LOL, very insightful! ;)

Seriously though, I'm not at all surprised about Target being sticklers when it comes to their policies abot having the actual ad to get a price match. On the other hand, Walmart prides themselves on their easy price match policy.

I'm not trying to make my own rules here or get away with something shady - Walmart's policy states you don't have to have the competitor's ad, so I'm just wondering how exactly they verify price, that's all.

They don't verify the price if it is something that is reasonable. If you said someplace had a $100 item for $5, they wouldn't do it, but a $24.99 item for $18.74 is pretty reasonable. Just tell them the price, not that it is 25% off.

Ours actually required me to bring in the ad before they would price match. It wasn't worth the trouble to go home and get it (no smartphone here!), so I just didn't get the item. And they said they won't price match % off or other deals where you buy one thing, get _____.

I thought Wal-Mart only matches competitors advertised prices--NOT online prices.

Not sure about WalMart but most stores with a price match policy won't generally match if the competitor doesn't have the merchandise in stock. I've seen a TrU person actually call and ask if the item was in stock.

FYI... Walmart will not match ads that give a free gift card with a purchase either:confused3. ....such as a recent 3DS at Best Buy with a $50 gift card....selling it for the same base price of $169.....go figure

Happy Holidays!

Nah, that one's easy. The gift card wasn't a sale price, it was a special offer. Best Buy would have given you a Best Buy gift card. WalMart has no reason or incentive to give you a Best Buy GC, and the BB offer didn't provide for a Walmart GC.

walmart will only MATCH PRINT ADS, that being said, most are very liberal, and wil match prices (if they arent crazy low) that are online, or even if you just tell them.

I just price matched today with no problems. I didn't have an ad, and it was by trust, as it was an online price.

I price matched a Walmart.com price of $10.00 instead of paying the store price of $12.97. The cashier did it with no problem. The money I saved paid for my windshield de-icer that I needed.

This is the first time I have ever tried to price match. It was easy peasy, and while I won't go all out to attempt to pay less, in this instance it worked out great. All I needed was puppy pads, and I needed them today.
