Walmart ponchos - sold out

I looked for ponchos at my local Wal-mart. I was going to get one because they are cheaper than the ponchos sold at Disney World.

They were completely sold out! You could see the space on the shelves where they were supposed to be, different models at different prices, but they were all gone. I asked an employee, who checked and said that their supplier has none available, so who knows when they will be restocked.

If you were planning to purchase ponchos there, and you see them, you might want to get them while you can.

I was in the camping gear area at Wal-Mart. When the shelves were bare, I found an employee a few rows over and asked him if I had been looking in the wrong place, but he took me back to the camping gear aisle where I had been.

It happens. One year I went and they were sold out at Walmart and Target. I also believe the associate said there was a recall on the poncho so they did not know when they would be restocked.

I'm in Canada and they were sold out at mine when I was picking up camping supplies last month. I think they're a really popular camping item.

There are sometimes some near the umbrella display.

Check dollar stores, too.

They are definitely placed in two locations at my local WalMart: sporting goods, and near the ladies accessories (purses, hats, etc...)

If you have an IKEA nearby, I've gotten nice ponchos there before.
Dollar Store, another local discount store (Kmart) or sporting goods store?
Otherwise, there is always Amazon. They sell multi-packs.

Walmart has them by sporting goods and by the purse dept. Target has them too in their camping section.

My local Dollar Tree sells them. I've also seen them at grocery stores where umbrellas are sold (but not really a deal there). The last time we went to Disney, I got ours on Amazon. I think a pack of 10, not very expensive. I have leftovers for the next trip.

Just buy the Disney poncho. It's heavier and sturdier than those Walmart plastic drycleaner bags they call ponchos. If the Disney poncho gets wet and you want to take it off, turn the wet side to the inside and fold it up. Tuck it in your belt/waist band or put it in a small Ziploc bag. When you get back to your room, just unpack it and let it dry in the bathroom. Then fold it up and reuse it. Plus if it tears on the trip that you bought it, they will usually replace it for free (show your receipt). We have Disney ponchos that we have used for twenty years.

Plus you aren't just tossing out more plastic, right?

I tried two Dollar Tree stores. Both were sold out of ponchos.

I tried another Wal-Mart store. They had two of the "Adult Emergency Poncho," one size fits all, 44" wide x 40" long, 3.2 ounce. The package says that it is recyclable. The cost was $4.97. They also had two youth size, and about ten of the $0.99 ponchos which I assume are thinner than a trash bag. This was in the camping department. They had nothing near the umbrellas.

I completely agree with this. The Disney ones are only like $10. We have had ours for 9 years so far. They last forever! We just roll them up (wet) when we take them off and then open them up and drape them over a chair in the room overnight. Roll back up and secure with a rubber band, good to go for the next day.

One of mine actually ripped 2 years ago and I went into a store in Epcot to buy a new one and the cashier gave it to me for free when I told her my old one had ripped down the middle suddenly. It was 7 years old at the time and I obviously didn't have a receipt.

Those cheap ponchos blow all over the place when the winds pick up during the storms in summer. We saw so many people using them and getting SOAKED while our ponchos stayed down and kept us dry.

After 10+ Disney trips using the cheap ponchos I finally bought a Disney one this past March when we got caught in a rainstorm. Why didn’t I buy it sooner?? They’re bigger and way better quality than the Walmart ones!

I have a Disneyland Paris kids poncho that fits me (5'3") and it is way stronger than the walmart one I bought DH. If it rips Disney will replace it.

We've had both the Disney ones and the disposable ones. My preference is the disposable. They are lighter to carry around and don't take up as much space in the bag and are easy to pitch at the end of the day if you don't want to mess with drying it out and such.

We prefer the Disney ones too. Main reason? For our first 3 trips, we needed them. Bought them and they worked fine for us. Last two trips? We had rain, but for various reasons we didn't need them. Whether we were taking a break in the room when it hit, or were in a show, or whatever reason, we just avoided being drenched and needing a poncho If it's not needed, why carry it around
