Hi all,

I am new to the Disneyland Board. We live in New Zealand and have recently returned from our 2nd visit to WDW which was just amazing. We haven't been to DL since 1996! I'm in the process of planning a return visit to DL and have so many questions about Hotels etc but will spend time reading through these threads before asking.

One question I do have though is...... coming from New Zealand one fo the things we love to buy when visiting USA is cosmetics! Yep, make up!! It is so expensive here. One example is the mascara I use here in New Zealand is around $20 and I picked it up in Walmart in Orlando in January for $3.97!

So my question is, are there any Walmarts, Targets etc. near DL? We won't have transport so would need to get a cab there from our hotel. Thanks for any feedback you are able to give.

If you really like fun makeup go play at Sephora at DTD!! That will get you into a lot of trouble ;) You can test everything, get make overs and so much more. They also carry from high end to lower end but all quality stuff!!!

BTW I know there is a Target nearby but I know some one will be able to give you more exact information on that.

Target is down Harbor about a mile or two on the left. Wal-mart is across the freeway, not sure which exit. Target is closer.

Hi Kiwitinkerbell! I would love to know this too!!! We are from Australia and have visited wdw 4 times and Disneyland twice. We are planning another Disneyland trip this year and we really really want to go to a Target or Walmart this time (we keep meaning to go!!) I have heard the makeup is really cheap and also I'm a theatre nurse and have heard you can get scrubs for cheap in these stores also. When we went to Disneyland last year I remember on the bus on the way out of DL there was a Target or Walmart really quite close by...not sure if you can use the ART transport system to get there or if you need a cab?

Yeah if you wanna do some excellent shopping then I would suggest going to the Anaheim Plaza. They have a great Walmart, Ross, Sears and loads more great stores. It's about a 5-10 minute cab ride down the road. I always look forward to going there once a trip.

Thanks so much for the replies! It sounds like it won't be a problem getting in some good shopping! :thumbsup2

The target is across the way from Anaheim Marriot Suites and Crowne Plaza in garden grove. If your ride the ART shuttle (not sure which one) to either of those hotels then you can just walk across, make your purchases and then ride the ART shuttle back to DL and then catch the one to your hotel. Hope this helps.

we went to the walmart thats listed above..... it was abot $10-$15 cab from the best western stollvos..... it was great i wish we had gone eairly in the trip instead of at the end!!! u can get great snacks and drinks and everything while in the park!!!!

Oh wow - that sounds cool. Please excuse my ignorance, but.... what is the ART shuttle? (is it disney transport like at WDW?)

ART (Ananehim resort transportation) are shuttle buses that transport people from the nearest bus stop near their hotel and take them to the park, and from the park back to the hotel. You have to pay to use the service as it is a local bus system. But the good part about the ART is that the bus loop they drop you off at is right at the main gate to Disneyland. Each bus has a number on the window of the bus which corrisponds to the numbered post the bus has to stop at in the bus loop, so you always know which bus post to stand at.

Its convenient but kinda lousy. If you can stay at a hotel that is a walking distance to Disneyland (Hojo, Carousel, Tropicana, Park Vue) Etc. then I would recommend it. Saves you money, and loads of time, and you can go back to your hotel at any time to nap or change and you dont have to wait for a ride. Also another benifit of not having to take it, is that the ART system stops running for about an hour during the afternoon for lunch making you wait longer to catch it, and it also stops running an hour after park closing. So you basically have no time to go to DTD and leisurely walk around after closing.

I actually e-mailed ART to ask them about this....they said from Disneyland you take Route 1 on the ART and get off at the second stop (Marriot Suites).
